The rules say that if a foreign object is present in the cage and hurt a fighter. The referee has to stop the fight momentarily and remove the object (and call a medic if necessary). Goddard ego and temper did not allow him to take all information necessary to make the right call. He has a Hubris syndrome impacting his judgment as referee.

You don't know where this is coming from, it can also come from Doumbe Corner, no one has any clue. Doumbe doesn't get the point about Jones, it's not about "how you got it" but about "how you handle it" If you can win a fight, without saying anything with broken feet, you can win a fight with a tiny wood splinter in your toe. You want to be the best, you claim to be the best? Then, shows it the world, that is the whole point.
@@sebastienammirati8161 I am serious. This rule is there for a reason. For instance if someone broke glasses in the ring (whatever where it comes from), the referee has to stop the fight and remove that out the ring. It’s not a street fight. (For the mosquitoes nothing the referee can do about it and both fighters are affected by it 😅). They were fights where the fighters blooded too much on the ring that the referee stopped momentarily the fight to clean it and insure the fighter safety.
Doumbé mistake was to complain a second time when Baki tried to talk to Goddard. He knew that Goddard will not fulfill is request as he is very rigid and did not understand the situation. He would have been able to continue the fight and go over the pain in his foot.
Goddard mistake was to let his ego and temper don’t let him take all information necessary to make the right call and communicate well with the fighters.
However, the main cause of all this drama is the unprofessionalism of the PFL.

He didn’t really got cut or removed by UFC.
He was planed to have a fight in a Paris UFC event. They did medical imaging on him before the event and found out he has a kind of injury (nothing very serious). The UFC got overprotective and canceled his fight. Further, he started to negotiate with UFC to fight in their new events. The UFC proposed him something like $10k per fight (rookie contract, not considering his background as Glory Kick Boxing champion). Then, PFL proposed him 100k per fight. He chose the PFL as they were offering more money and respecting his Kick Boxing experience.
He was supposed to knock out the young 22-year-old Baki in the first round.
We are still waiting...
Instead, Baki was slamming Doumbé on the ground during the entire 1sr round 🤣🤣🤣
Lol he didn't slam him once. Got two takedowns and couldn't control him for 20 seconds. Baki barely won the first round and Doumbé won the second and was on his way to win the 3rd one.

The ability to stand up count a lot if not as much as taking down someone today, so yeah he won the first round but he didn’t crush him or anything like that. Couldn’t control him at all, Baki was avoiding striking and basically in round 2 couldn’t take him down anymore as Doumbe had understood his timing. It is obvious baki was about to lose that fight. You could argue that in round 3 Baki knew that the referee would stop the fight if He talks to the referee a second time. Anyway the night was robbed for all the fans.

Marc Goddard is a terrible ref and has been for several years. He needs to be replaced.

If he had just not complained and try to not abuse his star power mid fight than he would of won. He initiated it all. Maybe don’t complain to the official if the risk is greater than the reward?
His first complain was legit as he was hurt by a foreign object that should be not present in the ring (and not by a blow from the fight).
His mistake was to complain a second time when Baki tried to talk to Goddard for helping him. He knew at that time that Goddard will have not fulfilled is request (as he is very rigid).
So what happens if that foreign substance causes an infection in his foot and he falls ill?

@@TheDilan123 You mean Cédric? Well, for one thing, what he says in the interview isn't true. He says that Baki spoke to him first, but that's not at all what we see in the video at that moment. It's Doumbé talking to Baki and then Baki talking back. What's more, the referee wasn't even looking at Baki. He was only looking at Doumbé. When Doumbé looked at the referee a second time, that's when he decided to stop the fight. Baki didn't have much influence on stopping the fight in the end.
Secondly, he said for weeks that he was going to knock Baki out in the first round. He'd done the same thing in his fight with Jordan Zebo (whom he actually knocked out in the first round). And now that the fight's over, he's starting to say that it was all a strategy and that he didn't want to knock him out in the first round, but in the third. But we all know that if Cedric had knocked Baki out in the first round, he'd be telling everyone "I told you I was going to knock him out in the first round". Just like he did with Jordan Zebo.

Actually Marc did steal the fight or made a mistake. He shouldn't have stop the fight. He should've warn both fighters to stop stalling and continue fighting.

Marc Goddard didn’t know he had a splinter in his foot. He thought it was an injury caused by a blow during the fight and that’s why he asked to continue the fight.
If Goddard knew it was a splinter he will have stop momentarily the fight and gave Doumbé one second to remove the splinter as the rule says. That clearly a mistake from Goddard. His ego and temper did not let him get all information necessary to make the right call.
Nobody is over the law guy, stop crying, the ref didn't stop the fight, he did!

If yes, Doumbé did follow the rule.
His coach says that he is used to use glue on his foot to have more grip. He olso say that he did this night but PFL said that was illegal so he cleaned it and walked to the cage without shoes.
We cannot affirmed that the splitter hurt him inside.
It will stay a lost game for him however he cried on TV show.
@@toniotonico6884 in the US live we were able to see him clean his feet just before he entered inside the cage. Several guest and spectators entered inside the cage with shoes (to do selfie and interviews) before the fight and PFL didn’t clean the cage at all. The splinter was very probably in the cage before Doumbé entered in it and hurt him at the third round. It is the responsibility of the PFL to maintain the cage clean for safety of the fighters.
Additionally, a part of the splinter was 3 millimeters outside is toe (which indicates he got blessed by it inside the cage in the third round). If he did got hurt by the splinter in the aisle it will have been deeper in his toe (by walking or running on it).

C est de la mauvaise fois de penser qu'il n'aurait pas continué le fight avec cette écharde.. Mais bon j'ai l'impression que certains sont juste satisfait d'avoir validé leur prono plus que de voir la fin de ce combat qui était vraiment intéressant à regarder.
A Disappointing Fight
Round 1: Baki repeatedly takes Doumbé down without doing anything else. How mediocre!
Round 2: Doumbé finally dominates. What an unexpected turnaround!
Start of Round 3: Baki suddenly decides to box with Doumbé. A very risky strategy after being manhandled!
Then the drama unfolds - Doumbé complains about a splinter in his foot. The referee controversially stops the fight, declaring Baki the winner by TKO. What an anticlimactic ending!
Both camps are calling for a rematch. Doumbé downplays Baki's victory. In the meantime, they will continue to insult each other on social media. The media circus is just beginning!
Baki should not gloat too much about this virtual KO against an opponent still capable of beating him. A poor showing for such an anticipated fight.

Ce qui me dérange c'est que dans les compétitions, comme au judo, on apprend aux parents à supporter et encourager leurs enfants sans dire "tue le", les pratiquants sont tenus de respecter le code moral. Je sais que ça n'est pas le même cadre, le trash talking c'est bien pour faire le buzz, mais ça n'est pas un bon exemple. De plus, en combat on n'est pas là pour discuter pas avec l'arbitre. Sinon j'ai de la sympathie pour Doumbé, mais je trouve qu'il exagère peut-être un peu ;) PS : je sais bien que le pfl, les annonceurs, Baki et Doumbé s'y retrouvent. People comparing this to John Jones, broken toe are very wrong splinters don’t trigger adrenaline rush they just don’t. That’s why you feel the pain so much when you get a splinter they don’t trigger an adrenaline response when you have something like that. You feel the pain every time try to move it. In the case of John Jones, his toe injured triggered a huge amount of adrenaline, so he wouldn’t feel the pain.

Marc Goddard did the right thing several refs backed him, Doumbe there is no time outs for splinters Jon Jones fought with a broken toe against Chael Sonnen if he would have pointed at his foot that would have been stopped as well. Doumbe you did stop tour fight your opponent noticed it as well there is no time outs for splinters
Don't forget he was in steroid, and didn't fight for the same amount of money
If it was a fighting injury then this is understood. That glass is a foreign substance that is not allowed in the cage. It could cause an infection that would fall back on the company. Horrible decision for the ego filled goddard
