Moments such as Jof having to press the button with his bad finger, moving himself to the Dr, by moving the point anddrawing the door, the tribal chants by the doctors crazy assistants, and the doctor giving Jof "Playcat" and trying to kill him, brought me back to the 90's and my childhood. The fact that that doctor is still in business despite the fact that he is willing to harm and torture innocent patients proves how mean spirited, villainous and antagonistic he is.
I. LOVED. THIS. CARTOON. It's really a one hit wonder really; the music, the characterizations and the lack of dialogue all go together so well. And the fact that I'm laughing now as much as I did when I was like, 5 years old shows that this really stood the test of time.
Why does the hospital door buzzer sound like a school bell? I thought hospitals were generally supposed to be QUIET places. But then again, with that crazy doctor and his assistants, it's probably quite noisy there frequently!
The music from timestamp 1:16 to 1:23 with the finger drawn hospital signs in this cartoon looks like the intro music of Twin Peaks, composed by Angelo Badalamenti.
I've gotta echo everyone else's comments, I'm so happy someone finally uploaded this. I don't think I admitted it when I was a kid, but this was probably one of the best "What A Cartoon"'s that they had. A childhood masterpiece.
A good example in how to make a short that's virtually dialogue-free and still very entertaining. I love the tribal chants of the orderlies, and the underlying plot in that you can have a simple problem, but some people make it much more difficult than necessary!
This was made in Europe by veteran Italian animator Bruno Bozzetto, exclusively for Hanna-Barbera in 1995. Prior to this stint, Bozzetto was renowned...and still is to this day...for making vignettes for the European telly & cinema screens.

I think the whole "Tribal Yelling" when the doctors were summoned was to show how the common person doesn't understand medical speach, (there's the name doctors use for everything, then there's the simplified word that everyone else uses.) But, "Help" being the only clear word in the cartoon, for some reason always made me feel like this one needed to be in "Oh Canada" for some reason. Thanks for upload.

God this makes me feel really old. I loved this when i was younger. I forget how old i was though when i first saw this. I'm 18 now. Makes you realise that cartoons these days can't even hold a candle to cartoons from the 90's. This was really clever and funny.
