if you liked sigur ros I think you would like Godspeed you! black emperor. Especially their 1997 album F#A# infinity and their 2000 album Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!
I'm so glad you loved "Another Green World"; discovering Eno was such a formative experience for me. If you liked his more ambient tracks you should check out "Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundscapes"- it has some of his most beautiful work and really captures the feel of the title. If you want to hear more of the glam rock sound check out "Here Come The Warm Jets" or "Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy" as they are both brilliant. Another favorite artist of mine that draws some inspiration Eno is the electronica pioneer Aphex Twin. You could start at the beginning with the chill "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" or something a little harsher like the "Richard D. James Album." He is neck and neck with Eno for me- a really original artist. Keep up the great work, not a lot of people are covering music like this it is nice to see some love for composers that fall outside the major fandoms.
Congrats on 1k subs, just want to give the reccomendation boris at last- feedbacker. This album is truly incredible. although technically considered 1 song its split into 5 parts and each part is pretty distinct, while still feeling like a cohesive progression & journey. There are parts that might put you off or be too extreme, but I think its definetely worth giving a shot if you want to hear something very unique and a little more challenging also if you do get to this album, just know that it starts incredibly slow and it is worth sitting through part 1 as the album picks up a lot more after that. think of part 1 as more of a ambient kinda mood setter before the music begins
I’ve been here since literally the first 2 videos or so, when you’re the next brad taste in music don’t forget me. Love the reaction style and open mindedness. I will say, if you haven’t done a Radiohead discography run-through, you should, but it doesn’t have to be recorded reactions. In my opinion (what a surprise) Radiohead are an essential experience for people who want to be involved in the contemporary music landscape, just because of the groundbreaking influence that their albums had, but also because a few of them are masterpieces. It’s not just that albums like OK Computer were so ahead of their time, or Kid A subverted all expectations, it’s also the fact they had such a huge reach for a more experimental sound. The fact an album like Kid A reached 1 on the billboard still amazes me.
Good list, I would put all the King Crimson albums much higher but agree that Red is the best. You should listen to either Trespass by Genesis or Freak Out! by The Mothers of Invention. Love your videos
Out of all the albums on this list that I've listened to sa far this would be my ranking. (They're all amazing btw) 1. The Glow Pt.2 2. Close to the Edge 3. Spiderland 4. Loveless 5. In The Aeroplane Over the Sea 6. The Velevet Underground & Nico 7. Unknown Pleasures
I only recently came across your album reaction videos since I also recently got hooked on Boards of Canada. You got a dope vibe and a uniquely engaging editing style on music reactions imo. Looking forward to more from you man
spot on with Geogaddi, it genuinely does feel like it transcends music. still highly recommend you get around to their eps/unreleased albums disappointed about Dots and Loops being at 39!!!
Congrats on 1k bro! If you’re looking for recs and you want some more electronic music definitely check out Burial’s Untrue, as it’s for sure an essential album of the genre
Haven't watched this video yet, but I did scroll through your playlist of reactions.... You either have one of the best comment sections for suggestions, or you have a really cool personal checklist. I would love to send you about a million album requests.
Seriously Matte Kudasai is so good! I want to know other songs like it. Hold on by John Lennon and else by built to spill are kinda similar, maybe the weather by pond but that’s pushing it
Has it already been 40 albums?! I remember looking up reactions for any Boards of Canada stuff and finding your videos pretty early on. 1k is nuts this fast! Can't wait to see more album reactions!
Alright, now that I've heard your whole video (and some of your own songs)- I think we're in the same ballpark of taste. Seven Swans by Sufjan Stevens and Speak For Yourself by Imogen Heap have gotta be on your list to check out if you don't know them already. Very different albums than much of what you've heard so far, but those are almost all pretty influential on Sufjan and Imogen. And if course keep following the artists you've already dipped your toes into. Brian Eno, Sigur Rós, Bjork, Velvet Underground, etc all have some really great work throughout their discography, especially Sigur Rós.
Ágætis Byrjun in 9th is definitely a good place for it, after i watched your reaction to it i fell in love with it and i have been listening to Ny Batteri on loop for so long…
Congrats bro! Nice and clear reviews as well. I would say though, you've gotta try a bit more genesis if you feel up for it! I really do recommend albums like Trick of the Tail or Trespass! Love it and keep it up
Yoooo congrats on 1k subs!!!! Everyone’s beat me to the punch but you totally deserve it! I remember first watching your Geogaddi review in my feed after watching some BOC video essays. The amount of music you’ve been listening to and your open-minded, chill embrace of new albums and artists is so refreshing and entertaining. I’m excited to see you, your channel, and your taste in music grow! Awesome content, really great list I agree with a lot! Another Green World, Velvet Underground and Nico, and Souvlaki are top 5 albums for me! So is Remain In Light, which your placement made me wanna throw hands ngl lmao
Great vid man and congrats I was just wondering over what u exactly mean when you say you don’t find yourself returning to a certain album as much, is it because you don’t find the music it in too compelling so you don’t return to it or is it because you’re not always in the mood for that album even if it’s great because it’s too emotionally intense etc And I feel like if the answer is the ladder it shouldn’t take points off the board for that reason and might even be a good reason for why it should be even higher. Anyways keep doing your shit bro
Brian eno is top 3 best producers oat,i did some digging and found out that slowdive sent a letter to Brian eno asking him if he could produce souvlaki but he said no but that he can help produce some songs,he produced “sing”..so that synth work in the beginning is pure eno. He also produced for talking heads, songs like once in a lifetime etc and collaborated with David bowie alot.
But besides that,Enos solo material is otherworldly, like here come the warm jets, taking tiger mountain by strategy, before and after science etc, could definitely see you loving songs like “by this river” “julie with” “on some faraway beach” “Third uncle”. AND his ambient material is a planet of its own.
Love this shit. Love ur channel. Definitely do this every like 100 albums Loll it would get so hard overtime but so much fun to watch man. Either way love ur channel
If you liked The Velvet Underground & Nico, you might also like their album White Light/White Heat. It's an aggressively noisy album from 1968, meant to piss off hippies who liked the softer sound of their debut. It ended up being a massively influential album in the underground, influencing bands like Sonic Youth and Swans. Sister Ray is an experience
I'm yet to watch the whole video but I've skipped to the end to find out what album you put at number 1. Very, very good pick, one of my favourites too, but I have to wonder why your reaction to it is not available on TH-cam? Was it blocked? (Not naming the album so I don't spoil it for anyone else, lol)
Obviously this is a subjective list and that's cool. We all hear the world differently. But just know... you are objectively wrong about Remain in Light ;-) Keep on keeping on.
