As someone who played Pokémon my entire childhood but dropped off in high school, I just wanna say Aaron your content has been almost the soul reason I got back into this world all these years later. This podcast is awesome and I wish you two nothing but success! Hoping this blows up for y’all! 🎉
@@mr.goodcat1810 pretty much the best time to return to as well IMO especially if you're dipping your toes into competitive. Tera is such an amazing mechanic/gimmick compared to the previous gens'
i watched the entire Baltimore regional and LOVED ur casting its so fun to watch high level Pokemon with excellent commentary paired alongside. Great work keep it up! Also very much enjoyed the podcast cant wait for topics that will be discussed later on
Watching Baltimore was super fun. I was definitely surprised by the number of unique Pokemon and can't wait to see what we Europeans cook up for Dortmund. Hearing the crowd go wild for Maushold was one of those great VGC moments people are still going to talk about years down the line. Also, i am really glad we in Germany aren't the only people who suffer from terrible train service
Aaron and Rosemary's commentary was super fun! I felt like I learned so much everytime yall were casting, especially as a new vgc watcher! The finals with the counting was awesome. Thanks such informative casts!
You guys are starting off strong! Markus - your reputation has been hyped by always hearing the Wolfe say your name. Great to meet you 😄 Discussion suggestion: I would like to hear what tools the pros use to prepare. I use Serebii mostly but I see Pikalytics and Showdown show up on YT. What other tools do you use?
Thinking this may be the best place to ask. But I find signing up for tournaments overly complicated, and thus have never signed up for one. How, exactly, does one go about signing up for a tournament? It seems like it's different for each level, so I'm extremely confused. Is there a way we could get a segment dedicated specifically on how to go about signing up for different levels of events? I feel like the complexity of signing up for a tournament is the real barrier to entry...
I feel like Rilaboom has a bad matchup into Archaladon as well since Archaladon benefits from the grassy terrain so much if it has defense boosts from stamina and Rilaboom cant do any meaningful damage to it.
Nope, the logic being Clear Amulet prevents stat drop, but Clear Smog and Haze doesn't apply stat drops, it resets stat changes which is why Haze is sometimes used to reset stat drops from ally Draco Meteor and Make it Rain. Clear Amulet prevents (stat -1), (stat -2), etc but Clear Smog and Haze are (stat = 0)
Y'all never actually answered the first question you were asked. The question asked why Porygon 2 is the favored Trick Room setter for Ursaluna teams. You answered why Porygon 2 is a *good* trick setter, but never why it is good specifically for Ursaluna. I'm glad to have learned that it succeeds because it's an offensive trick room setter, but why does every Ursaluna team WANT an offensive trick room setter over a supportive one? How do these qualities synergize with Ursaluna?
P2 is good with ursa bc ursa's vulnerability to intimidate means it often can't finish the game in one trick room, but Ursa is so resilient that it often makes it through that trick room healthy; because p2 can supplement its damage AND take a ton of hits, it's uniquely well suited to not only give ice coverage for ursa's ground, but also be especially good at setting the second trick room for the bear. So... p2 is one of the bulkiest possible tr setters with recover -> can get two trs -> ursa loves having a second tr because of how it's vulnerable to passive play.
@@tolerwebb132 I was just thinking wow this is really in depth analysis from a random youtube comment. Then i realized you were like top 8 at baltimore lol. Thanks for dropping this knowledge!

Tera Blast becoming special after intim drops actually just blew my mind
This podcast scratches the VGC podcast itch perfectly. Thanks y'all!!
Same 😮 while I was watching those games I was wondering how the heck does Paul keep doing so much damage after so many intimidates

Excited about the new Pokémon artifact show-and-tell segment! Great way to learn niche Pokémon history

DEEP CUT WITH THE VIERA BOOK
Flamigo is glass cannon. Amazed people never caught on in reg A. Made so many just forfeit when I killed ghold with 1 cc
I’m in the lounge!
I think we might see more Rotom. Or some other Electric mon. Will be interesting.
Love the Podcasts
You could call the new segment Key Item or something 😆
If Aaron "Cybertron" Zheng is involved, I'm watching it.
Helping Hand is also another move like coaching technically

Does clear amulet prevent clear smog from removing stat boosts?

I’ve only competitively played tcg’s before (specifically MTG)… Are you not allowed to intentionally draw in VGC tournaments?
That's correct, intentional draws are not a thing in VGC (but they are in Pokemon TCG)
Yo I'm first
boost
