AMEN! Just absolutely a GIFT to us all. I watched these during the pandemic but who knew what was to come?! I just cherish these intimate interludes. My first concert was in 1978 and he has always been with me! THANK YOU for sharing your dad with us.
Jimmy’s reaction at the end is so touching. He’s remembering his good friend who has passed on and he’s choked up about it and you just never saw Jimmy in this kind of light in a setting like a concert with 20,000 screaming fans. So personal and so insightful to the real soul of the man and I wonder if he knows that a whole nation of his followers is now choked up in exactly the same way thinking about Jimmy himself. Delaney, you really gave the world a precious and enduring gift when you talked your Dad into doing these videos. To me, (and to many) these are the most valuable remembrances that we now have of your great Dad. Thank You. 😢
I woke up to texts from friends this morning bearing the news of Jimmy’s death last night. I can think of times when celebrities passed away and the news was disappointing, but this is a gut punch for me. A few days ago, a friend made a less than complimentary comment about Jimmy’s party songs - the ones most people know - and I had to explain the other side of Jimmy. She asked what my favorite Buffett song was and I played her “The Night I Painted the Sky”. Immediately, she had a new-found respect and admiration for this man and that made me happy. I wake up with a heavy heart today but I know Jimmy greets the new day with his Mom and Dad, and grandfather and Groovy and John Prine and a host of so many others. They’ll swap stories for eternity because that’s how long it’ll take to tell the tale. And they’ll paint the sky.
I enjoyed these very much when they first came out but I think everyone can gain a greater appreciation for them now. This whole series of videos by Delaney are absolutely the essence of who he was. A musician, a gifted storyteller, a father and a friend. Rest easy Jimmy and thank you for all you’ve given this world.
This was one of my fav video of Jimmy, so raw and pure just like Jimmy alway is. It brings me to tears to see Jimmy get emotional, as I feel the same now. RIP Jimmy! You don't know everyone of your fans, but your like an distant uncle to me that had many positive impacts in my life. Thank you Delaney.
We saw him in Phoenix, at makeup concert in March 2023. He played there one last time since his 2022 tour had been cut due to his illness that we now know about ❤️I had a premonition that it would be the last time I would see Jimmy after so many live concerts starting in Portland Oregon in 1979 with his Volcano tour…right before our very own Mt, St. Helens blew up in our backyard! My husband woke me up on that September morning in 2023 with the words “ Jimmy died” .
This made me tear up, just wish I could hug him right now and say to him personally "Thank you for all the joy you brought into our lives and for leaving us with your gift of song." Jimmy will be so greatly missed. I love these little snippets of interview, memories, and song. Thank you Delaney for recording all of this so he is never forgotten. Bless all of you so very much, I know too well how hard it is to lose a parent, I losr mine within 17 months of one another very unexpectedly in 2019 and 2020 and sat with my Mom through her cancer battle to the last breath. I wish I had recorded some of her stories. 💔
Delaney, I can’t thank you enough for sharing these videos with the world. You dad seemed to be a wonderful, caring man and his music will live on for eternity as will the joy that it brings those who listen.
As obviously sad as we all are over the loss of Jimmy Buffett the things shared by the family are treasures that I sincerely appreciate. Thank you for bringing us into the family just a bit. We are all sad and I would imagine the family even more so. Thank you Delaney and Jane for allowing us a window into the life you shared with this iconic man.
Delaney, Your dad’s music got me through many days of jobs I hated and some relationships I never should’ve been in. He wasn’t just a musician I went to see every summer…he was my therapist and my “life coach” even though we never met. This video series is a gift to me after his passing and I thank you for making them.
To me, the era of Fruitcakes, Banana Wind, and Barometer Soup is stunning and classic. Jimmy at that time was up there with Dylan, Beatles, Springsteen. But funnier, wittier, more relatable, more mischievous, and somebody I would prefer to have a drink with. On a beach or a boat.
Delaney, I dearly love your dad telling you about How The Night He Painted the sky. He was reliving every moment with Groovy. You were so fortunate to get to do all those chips with him. Bless you for that time together ❤
The ending wrecked me. "Oh Daddy".... Delaney, Savannah and Marley - I'm so sorry for your family's lost. We loved him as an entertainer, but we forget he was a loving father, husband and brother. God bless you Delaney for taking the time to capture your father's memories and creatively sharing these songs with us, one more time.
Truly one of my favorites of his. What a beautiful rendition. Watching him be flooded with memories as he sang, got me good. Life will never be the same without his soul
This perhaps is my favorite song by Jimmy. God Blesses some of us with an immense talent to touch the lives of countless people. I’ve battled a bit of depression the past couple of days and this song just came on and I found myself smiling. May we all keep painting the sky wherever we are.
I worked as a bartender at Lulu's sunset grill in fairhope, Alabama in the early 2000's. Jimmy came to town for his mother's birthday and played at the tiny restaurant his sister owned. Peetes was there and jimmy told the crowd of 200 hundred or so he was only playing the songs his mother loved. All i had ever heard at that time were the radio hits. It was a crazy evening trying to keep up with the bar crowd but i did get to hear deep JB cuts that didn't get radio play. I became a fan that evening, i also made more tips in those two hours than i ever had before! RIP Bubba, i hope Ramos will be okay.
What a beautiful human. You will always be remembered and missed Jimmy. Thank you Delaney for sharing these moments with us. Prayers to you and your family.
It really pains my heart that Jimmy is no longer with us. I’ve always felt a connection to him since we were nearly the same age and grew up in the same area. I wish he was still here!
Thank you Delaney for sharing this moment with your father. Revisiting this song has placed it as one of my favorites. Your Dad brought us togther, creating everlasting friendships and memories and you can't put a price on that.
As I watch this, my mind goes back to the song about Jimmy’s dad. How all the boats in the harbor saluted his birthday. It ends with “a time in the future for Cameron and me”. And I see the years go by in Jimmy’s eyes.
This series has become an invaluable treasure. Each of these interviews paired with the album recording would be amazing. Thankyou Delaney and all who put this together.
These are still so hard for me to watch. Growing up in Mobile, AL I’ve seen your Daddy play more times than I can recall, Delaney. I flew to Paris, France for my first overseas trip because your Daddy “Jimmy BOOFEY” (our boy singer) was playing there ON my 50th birthday. The show was on September 19, 2008. I’m so glad I made the trip. ❤ I miss your Dad. I’m so thankful that you made this series. God bless you. ❤
OK, I did not know we were going there at the end of the song, but this Sunday morning Jimmy (and Delaney) hit me with a left and a right; but I'm gonna be alright. I can't express how blessed I feel to have been Buffetted by the "storm" of emotions brought on by all those songs that hit the right nerve at the right time over all these years. Did Jimmy Buffett save my life? Who really knows for sure. I know he made my life much more interesting and helped give me the nerve to do things I was starting to doubt myself on. We're pushing 48 hours since it was alleged that James William Buffett left his earthly existence. Really? I go back to that bar scene On The Waterfront where Eva Marie Saint's character engages Marlon Brando's character with, "Isn't everybody a part of everybody else?" On it's surface the quasi-mystical rhetorical(?) question/statement is one without measure, but that is the TREASURE that is left (and right) with us all, all who have been under the influence in some large or small way by Jimmy Buffett over all these years. THAT IS WHAT I BELIEVE, and with that belief it is my intention to step out into this Tennessee sunlight and put my best Buffet-Foot forward, not as an impersonator (THERE IS ONLY ONE JIMMY BUFFETT), but as a person that might be a little more kind, and a little more thoughtful about all that is around me. Jimmy's kindness amplified through all those that will continue to put their best Buffet forward ... I believe Jimmy lives😊.
[As a side note] 'Speaking of "Painting the Sky", the two greatest times for Festivals of Lights are December 25th /Jimmy's birthday and July 4th/Eva Marie Saint's birthday.
"Rockets in the air and the people everywhere - put away their differences for awhile..." I've played this song often on my guitar and it's impossible for me to sing my way through it without getting an enormous lump in my throat! ...such beautifully crafted lyrics and melody line! Jimmy, you know you're truly a fine song writer when your own lyrics choke you up 20 years after you wrote it! ;)
Thank you Delaney. I remember Jimmy playing this at Alpine Valley with Fireworks going off behind the lawn section. I’m honored to know it was only one of 5 performances. My heart is breaking for you and your family. Thoughts and prayers are with you
Delaney, thank you for these videos. Love your Dad…he meant so much to his fans. You captured so many special moments. Not gonna lie…I started crying when your Dad did. Such a wonderful writer, storyteller, person who grabbed life by the horns and lived. 😢🤗😎❤🎆🎇👩🚒🧯❤
I truly love and admire the storyteller that Jimmy Buffett is. Your sincere love for your craft is a thing rarely seen these days. I thank you for your many years of giving us these gifts. And I thank you and Delaney for sharing these awesome videos. I just saw you in Nashville 7/16/21...Incredible.
What a treasure this is! I’m loving all the stories but especially enjoying the beautiful relationship you & your dad have had! What amazing memories you’ve made. Thank you so much❤️ I’ve enjoyed these songs for many years!
Luv this whole series by Delaney. He seems to have this smile the whole time he is singing that shows this song is special to him for the people/situation at the time. Such a unique individual and luv his whole discography. Truly an American icon.
Delaney, words could never tell you how much I enjoyed you interviewing your dad about his song. It amazed me how he remembered just what year so many things happened. I loved how he told you about Finding A Home. The one I loved most was The Night I Painted the sky. It brought so many memories of the fun he, Groovy and the boys had. He relived every minute and got so emotional. I have listened to all y’all moments so many many times. That is the best thing you could have ever done. You are so fortunate to have that time together. We miss him so much. Always keep the party going for him!🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻❤️❤️
Hey Jimmy, I’m a Pascagoula native that grew up on your music and raised my family in Fairhope (across the Bay lol). Due to my son’s challenges with Autism we moved back to Pascagoula (across from the ‘old Spanish Fort’) a couple of years ago (just in time for hurricane Zeta to flood our house lol). Thank you so much for your music, you’re truly an American Icon & Treasure 😎.
Wow! Great series of "Covid videos". All of them. Excellent interviews by Jimmy's daughter Savanna, and background stories on his songs. Intimate and beautiful.
Such a great inspiration I shared with you on this journey called life. Fly High in Blue Skies🐬 Hugs to you from me. ❤️💕🐬🦜🏝️Thank you for sharing your father. He’s at his Beach House on the Moon 🪙
Nicely done and with so much heart. Memories of old friends will always bring us to tears. Love this so much. God bless. Also, I'm guessing that this is the same "Groovy" from the song "The Coast of Carolina" "Little roadside restaurant we artfully complain Groovy tells the waitress that his chicken died in vain.."
This series hits different in September 2023. What a gift this was from Jimmy to his fans.
To the daughter who was smart enough to make these videos. You had an amazing dad. Thanks for sharing.
AMEN! Just absolutely a GIFT to us all. I watched these during the pandemic but who knew what was to come?!
I just cherish these intimate interludes. My first concert was in 1978 and he has always been with me! THANK YOU for sharing your dad with us.

Absolutely. Thanks and great appreciation to Delaney (the one who *_always_* talks to statues in my mind, whether she remembers doing so or not!)

I don't think that we could appreciate it anymore than today.
I thank you so very, very much.
@@joelail6741TRUE!!! 👍💗
That one brings a tear. He was a special one that gave us a place to go. Like millions of other people I feel like a piece of me died with him. RIP.

We're all crying with you now Jimmy. Your bright soul shines foerever. Life cant die, it just changes forms. We will miss you here on earth.

Thank you Delaney, for keeping your dad alive. I miss him very much, and I bet you do too!

This may be the one good think that came out of the pandemic. I wish more more people knew the depth of this artist.miss you jimmy
One of his undermentioned treasures, a "Little Prince" of a child-like tune. Thank you Mr. Buffett, that was more than just ok👏.
