Haaland going to Man City has nothing to do with image rights and everything to do with the Madrid situation. When haaland decided to move, Real were pursuing Mbappe completely and already had an in form world class ballon d’or winner in Benzema playing in that role. Haaland would have gained absolutely nothing by joining Madrid at that point in time. Although it might be a whole different story a year or two later from now
He has a 4 year contract with City so whoever wants him would have to use the release clause which is probably like $200 or so something even Madrid would be hesitant to pay in lump sum. That said, Haaland said he wants to prove himself in every top league, so whenever he goes to La Liga he'll still probably end up in Madrid by simple virtue of there being no one else who can really pay for his wages.
I think the biggest reason why Haaland did not go to Madrid is the same why a lot of English stars dont. Haaland was born in Leeds and is a huge Man City and Leeds fan it makes more sense from his perspective to try to win with his boyhood club than at Madrid.
Btw the only reason why Madrid stepped away from signing Galácticos is because Perez soon understood that there is no way anyone can compete against oil money. And at the same time the oil and foreign investment money was creating a huge bubble in football transfers making every player hyper expensive. Hence they switched formulas and since 2015 , they decided to invest in young players. And this strategy worked amazing for them. They won last champions league with a goal scored by Vini jr (bought when he was 16) and assisted by fede Valverde (bought when he was 18). There is a Tifo football video explaining this. You can say whatever you want but Perez is a genius.
@@Ubergejl both parties were interested in each other. Understand Hazard was linked to Real Madrid more than a year before he actually joined. He was supposed to fill Ronaldo's shoes, but it was too big a task for him, being riddled with injuries.
Okay, nobody seems to mention this, so here we go. PSG pays Mbappe €636 million gross without bonuses over 3 years + he reportedly has a say in how the club is run. Also, PSG's entire YEARLY revenue in 2020-2021 was less than this: €556. They forecast around €700 million in revenue for 2022-2023. In contrast, Real Madrid's highest-paid player is Eden Hazard atm, earning about €160 over 5 years. Real forecast a €769.6 million revenue for the 2022-2023 season and constantly ranked in the top 3 football clubs with the highest revenue in the last 10 years. Like this year, around 30% of PSG's revenue is Mbappe's salary. Insane. I will leave it up to you all to decide how big a part this played in him not signing for Real Madrid. (Sources: Transfermarkt, Le Parisien, Statista, Capology, Real Madrid)

@@jaingarvit2621 "Real also just doesn't respect it's legends"tell me you know nothing about the club without telling me you know nothing about the club.
Kinda disagree on this one. It is widely reported Mbappe was granted full control of his image rights by Madrid, but PSG offered him a much higher salary and control over the club’s transfer policy. On the other hand, Haaland did not sign with Madrid because he wasn’t given a guarantee to start over Benzema. Haaland was also not pursued as a priority target, Florentino was obsessed with signing Mbappe and devoted all of the club’s resources and attention into his signing.
Full control is incorrect, Madrid most reliable Journalists (Cortegana, Arrancha , Sanchez) said that Madrid offered 70% max which is their club record for example even Ronaldo and Beckham did retained that much
Contract offers were the same, psg just made sure that mbappe was his own manager at the club and the French president had a talk with him to convince him to stay.
50/50 split but 300% more offers so players would earn way more by giving their money... Its like having a fast food chain and paying to be in a delivery app which will cost you half of your current revenue but actually increase your earnings by 300/400%
The main reason of rejection by Mbappe and Haaland is being the main man. The way RMA were trying to bring in both Haaland and Mbappe, all while having Benzema, it would result in a clash. Resulting in less game time and exposure for all. They did the perfect job not to join RMA as now we can see them being the main man at their respective clubs rather than one being benched to make room for other. We can't have another Benzema or Bale who'll just prefer being in shadow while having the ability to be the main man.
@@tareklegrand7747 Only if you've seen the matches before commenting. PSG is built around Mbappe. And no one's gonna deny this fact. At psg it's more about Mbappe rather than Messi or Ney. He's their prospect for future.

I think Florentino will find another way. This time with bringing in younger players who want to play for the club. Vini, Camavinga & Touchameni. Madrids latest success comes from players loving the club. Florentino will keep it this way.
He's already found. The new Bernabéu concept. A multipurpose megapavillion in the middle of Madrid, connected to the rest of the city by metro, train and buses and also, through the train stations and the airport, to the rest of the country and the whole world. A venue that, instead of being used exclusively for some 60 football matches a year, will be able to be exploited for congresses, fairs, shows and other sports almost every day. I have read many researchers and articles studying Cristiano's impact on modern football. Damn. There is a massive impact to Real madrid as they had experienced lowest ticket sale in their history and Juventus earning top level.
The reason Haaland didn't come to Madrid was because Real Madrid prioritised Mbappe's transfer over him...if Real Madrid seriously went in for Haaland he'd be a Real Madrid player today....and as for Mbappe's case... the pressure that was put on him by the President of fucking France calling him to stay and then being offered the biggest contract in sports sounds like a good enough reason to stay
I mean, this is certainly a well-made video, especially the historic bit, but I feel like some of it is a little overstated. There was no room for Haaland on this squad with Benzema playing himself to a BdO award. Meanwhile Mbappe's rights certainly played a role but even reduced rights at Madrid have a bigger sway than at PSG. He just had insane national pressure to stay and an even bigger upfront salary, highly doubt it's any kind of long-term indictment of Madrid as they'll always have top level draw power for players.
There’s one thing that is important to say, the social media (especially instagram) gave the players the power to control their own sponsors and partners, something that wasn’t possible before. I think that contributed to this movement of not signing 50/50 contract.
Marcus Rashford is a good example. He cultivated his image more as an individual, through charity work, social awareness and his football, than as a Manchester United player. Surely, being a United player helped boost his image but not as much as it helped players in the past.
Nah no one would know who he is if he didn’t play for the biggest club in England, if he was even at a club like Chelsea he wouldn’t get the same attention. United is a monster of a club and it has always gotten more media attention than the rest of the big 6/7 combined

According to the reports Mbappe and Madrid was in full agreement with the splitting of imagine rights, what the amount was is uncertain. The reality is he used Madrid name to get lucrative deal with PSG and was persuaded to stay by influential people in France. Everyone knows countries like Qatar and Saudi Arabia loves to waste ridiculous money. Therefore that imagine rights deals still exist in Madrid. The irony is he would still earn more money in the long run if he came to Madrid. Not only would he be exposed to largest fanbase in the world and biggest sponsorship deal which Madrid has, but also the amount of bonuses he would be receiving winning major trophies, never mind the sporting legacy. Ronaldo today earns 40 mil annually from his Instagram account alone. His popularity skyrocketed when he came to Madrid, go figure.
@@rishiganguly5586 wrong both Vini and Benzema would accommodate Mbappe. Mbappe had no worry about playing time. He had the French govt, Qatari royal family and Amazon all pressuring him to stay. Qatar threatened to withdraw billions in investment in French energy, hospitality and defence companies if they couldn't convince Mbappe. Amazon threatened Ligue 1 with terminating their broadcasting deal. Macron presidency was weak and needed to get votes from the french African and Arab population and Mbappe was perfect as a Cameroonian and Algerian. Former french president who owns significant real estate in Paris also called him and his mother. The emir of Qatar also personally spoke to him. Let's see how big players move in the following years but at this point, Real's is the current Champions League winner after beating PSG, Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool. All of that without Cristiano and spending much less than main rivals. I think Real Madrid still have good chances to stay on the top of European clubs for a while, with or without Mbappe or Haaland. It's true, that "giving up image rights" isn't the way to attract "already superstars" in modern european football to sign for your club - because the most of the money of these "already superstars" is *already* from their image rights before their transfer to a big UCL Club... This didn't age well... at least regarding Mbappe, who seems to be coming to Real Madrid in a couple of weeks... in spite of the fans not wanting him. We already have the best player: Vinicius.
This is something that makes the Ronaldo vs Messi arguments crazy, they're 2 sides of the same coin. Almost like 2Pac vs Biggie, 1 is immensely talented, the other is a movement, an influencial brand, someone who is a powerful voice with a charm to bring in new fans. When that brand brings in the money, the talent recognizes their value and their price go up aswell, simply because they are the competition, but they need each other imo. Players may follow the same rules in the field but not all are equal in terms of brands, some need to make a crazy amount so the rest could have a voice over their own value. The Beckham bit is true because I never used to watch the sport but knew who he was. If Beckham did it, Christiano did it, and Mbappe will did it.
AI back with a banger in the new year with incredible editing. However, I don't believe that players don't wanna come to Madrid or that it is "the fall" of Real. Real just moved on to an even better strategy - getting very talented players very early and giving them the time to develop. A big problem is that La Liga has become a footballing backwater with 2 enormous clubs and the rest trying to catch up. The TV money isn't shared out so the big clubs - Madrid and Barsa - take most of it, Some clubs in the Spanish 1st Division have problems even paying their players and keeping the club afloat. Big clubs like Valencia and Athletic Club de Bilbao will never get back the power they once had and will find it difficult to attract and keep top players. So games for Madrid tend to be glorified training sessions. It's not quite like the situation in Scotland, but it's getting there, which is why Florentino and the Barsa board are so keen to have a super league.

I think the biggest reason why Haaland did not go to Madrid is the same why a lot of English stars dont. Haaland was born in Leeds and is a huge Man City and Leeds fan it makes more sense from his perspective to try to win with his boyhood club than at Madrid.
hahaha 🤣😂🤣😂 you're hurting

They think this will increase the income from the stadium exploitation at least 250 M € per year.

Florentino has changed strategy. Now he creates his own galacticos
He'll soon have a breeding factory

Also his playing position was uncertain as well with benzema and vinicius both bein in form that also led the deal to fall out .
@@rishiganguly5586 wrong both Vini and Benzema would accommodate Mbappe. Mbappe had no worry about playing time. He had the French govt, Qatari royal family and Amazon all pressuring him to stay.

It's true, that "giving up image rights" isn't the way to attract "already superstars" in modern european football to sign for your club - because the most of the money of these "already superstars" is *already* from their image rights before their transfer to a big UCL Club...
Football is changing as it's played.
But Real Madrid got it: They changed their signing strategy & build there future on teenagers most under 18 I think...
Real Madrid don't sign superstars any more, they try to create them as you can hope for Vinicius, Endrick, Camavinga and so on...

Nice video Athletic Interest.
Can u do a video about new balance.
Secret Base & Athletic Interest : The Real Madrid & Barcelona of sports media.
Perez is a smart guy. He has turned the table right now. He has changed his strategy. As they've already established themselves as the most decorated player in history, he has now given up spending outrageous money in buying players. He has focused on building young talents and that's actually worked. If you look at the team they currently have, it's complete super team of under 25s. The players will stay at the club for a long time for being at the top and by the time Real Madrid will have way more than enough success and money to attract and sign new superstars. Like this, the club will always be reigning in the world.
If you truly want to be the best, you’ll end up at Real Madrid eventually anyway. They are the best, the biggest and the smartest. Mbappe will join them one day
Or you can be Messi 🐐.
@@erickioko5501 yes but Messi could jever end up at Real because he started at Barca lol. So he is the obvious exception
Thanks for this video. Keep up the good work. God bless you.
Thanks, Sophia! 🙌
Players avoid madrid because they know they can't handle the pressure. THAT'S IT🤷♂️
