👏 Back in the day it was all about quality genetics. "Hold Back Quality" was how single genes got better. With morph saturation levels what the are no one cares about quality anymore just a race to the next new trend. Great video, hope more people see how quality counts!
It's definitely a technique to consider. I see so many ball pythons labeled "axanthic" that look terrible. I'll seriously think about this in my axanthic project.
I got into the Ball Python game already having knowledge on breeding. I've been breeding dog's since i was 12. And I've had some really knowledgeable breeders that I've learned from. So the first thing i did was ask a Bally Python breeder i buy animals from that has years of experience is are there lines that are known for particular morphs. The Barnhart line of Black Pastel being 1 that i ran across myself that is an extremely good example of line breeding in Ball Pythons. Of course Ozzy with the OD as well. I didn't know of any but Calico was one that i wanted to find a really good high white strain of in which case i lucked up and did. Although the guy i asked about the different lines wasn't into that he has still taught me a lot about the hobby. But im still very much into line breeding. One of the first things i was taught about breeding was consistency is everything. And to get consistency you have to line breed.
Chocolate and Blackhead to line breed for sure! Especially with the varieties of expression, would be beneficial having consistent quality to move forward into different projects. 🎉
Snake breeders are only finding about linebreeding now? Basic genetics if you are planning to become a breeder of any animal. Look up Outcrossing and inbreeding to.
This is 100% of the reason why I purchased a lot of my own ingredients to build my own projects out.
That truly is the best way to do it

Absolutely!!! And the thing is that many breeders don't even know how to recognize quality with how many genes there are

No, it’s been going on since the beginning.
Barnhart black pastel is one example, from what I've heard they have less issues than the standard cinny/black pastels do
