I love this theme study! Seeing how building walls of protection is symptomatic of “doing what is good in man’s own eyes” enabled me to reflect on what walls I’ve built around myself to ensure my own emotional preservation from others rather than trusting in God’s seal of the holy spirit

This is a truly fascinating series! ... but ... a bit of constructive feedback: I really appreciate the input of both hosts, but it would be good if Jon would allow Tim to finish his thoughts so that listeners can benefit from the totality of Tim's insight ... I appreciate Jon's perspectives and excellent questions, but it's frustrating for me when I'm looking forward to hearing Tim expound only to hear Jon cutting in on him or finishing his sentences for him ... but ... all in all I am really enjoying this series and am looking forward to continue working through all of the videos ... and then some ... many thanks to the whole team for a job really, really well done!
I'm one of those who think 'sons of Elohim' refers to humans. Here's why. The verses are: Genesis 6: Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive[a] with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” 4 There were [b]giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown. 5 Then [c]the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent[d] of the thoughts of his heart was only evil [e]continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 So the Lord said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” Verse 1: talks about men and daughters born to them. 2: talks about these daughters marrying these 'sons' of God' 3. There is no mention of angels or of punishment of angels. Since God is just, he does not punish men for the sins of angels. Therefore, 'sons of Elohim' are men. This is in addition to Jesus saying angels in heaven do not marry, nor is there any revelation that angels can reproduce with each other or with men.

God does not condone humans killing each other ...so how could He possibly kill them all (or some)? bloodshed causes further bloodshed / violence produces violence (Hosea 4:2) ... God is way beyond this ... His greatest power is agape unconditional love
I would think that Cain learned how to build cities from his father Adam. Also, this with me that the original intention of cities and expansion of the kingdom was initially a good thing and a divine command to take dominion, subduing multiply.
49:40 you say God promises to never do a cosmos de-creation thing again... But there's a very important qualifier... He said He won't do it "with water." In Revelation, He destroys the cosmos with fire.
Not quite. He makes a new heavens and a new Earth in Revelation 21. I assume it comes from the old universe of Earth and heaven. So it's a recreation, not destruction. But 2 Peter 3 does speak of the heavens and earth being consumed with fire. So for me, the math is Earth+heavens+fire=new heavens and new Earth.

Just as a discussion... sort of thinking outloudish... I wonder if the inlaws were part of that genetic carry over; but look at Noah and his son, maybe there is just a corrupt gene, too, from the beginning. Maybe we are missing something from the beginning... the fruit corrupted our genes? It does seem that some people have no choice about who they are from birth. Right from the start, every intent is evil. They seem incapable of comprehending good from God's perspective, only what they perceive is good for making them richer, bigger, and stronger in order to be the top most powerful. They seem lacking in true compassion... only if it makes them look good. It is horrifying. And there are those who are never smart or wealthy, but street rats who have no conscience, either. Not all street rats are rats, but brats who do have redeemable qualities. But, it is curious to me how people, born of those who do love the Lord are from the start are so evil. What happened? There are people born of horrid parentage who become wonderfully kind people and people who serve the Lord. How does that happen? You cannot just blame or extol family. I guess there are all sorts of anomalies when cells inutero are dividing, or a mom ingests something toxic to a fetus. It is just a curious thing. We think we are so great, and our bodies are remarkable, no doubt, but yet, we are so fragile, that a single incident like a single chemical or nothing at all that we can change, can so upset our genetics. Bottom line, only God knows and decides for His reasons. My greatest desire was for my children to follow Christ, and they have no regard for Him at all. They have an entitled attitude. They were so loved and cared for. I can only pray that maybe a descendant will find Him and serve Him. I keep praying and reaching out. They are still breathing. I have an adopted child, a victim of a genetic anomaly, but the sweetest, kindest, and most God-loving person. He is such an incredible joy and education every day. Go figure...🙌 😄
Those that continued weren't Nephalim. They were Rephaim and Anakim. Bible doesn't say the Giborim or the Nephalim survived. Even then, the conquest of Cannan was to exterminate that bloodline. As I am listening to you discuss Lamech and his choice to take the life of another human being and to take two wives for himself, and then connecting it to the sons of God mimicking what Lamech did... well it really makes sense as to why God was sorry he had made human beings. I would think in the story of the sons of God who rebelled and left their boundaries to take human wives that God would have said that He was sorry he made elohim. But he doesn't say that. Instead God says he was sorry for making human beings. So is it fair to say that God was sorry for making human beings because the angels actually followed their sinful ways instead of the other way around?

I don't believe God tried x method and saw that it didn't work and now will try y method. Like Saul and David, he lets us see our way and the result, then he shows us a better way and the result. He knows the future, and wants to teach us that our instincts and our values, as they currently are, lead to bad outcomes. If we trust God it leads to a better and eventually an ideal outcome. My it be our security, our prosperity, or even having enough food on the Sabbath, we are to trust God.

I have a few questions. 1st: If the sons of Elohim (which interestingly is a plural like Malajim) are the seed of Cain (seed of the serpent) wouldn't that imply that the serpent "knew" Java in some way? 2nd: Noah's birthday was marked by many signs. In the Apocrypha it said that he was born with pink porcelain skin, with white hair and that he pronounced the name of God when he got out of his mother's womb. What would this mean? Would this be related with the scared name of God יתרת (sorry if I misspelled it) and the correct pronunciation?
Where can I find that Lamech is Cain spelled backwards? Commentary after commentary and search after search on the web revealed nothing like that. I thought it might be the same letters rearranged or in reverse order but no, not that either. Can someone please back this up?

35 min in, you mention Enosh, where the Adam-to-Noah genealogy states was the point when men began to "call on" the name of the Lord. I've heard that this is actually a mistranslation, and should read this is when men began to *profane* the name of the Lord. The suggestion here is that this is the catalyst for the downward spiral that started here led to where it is noted in Genesis 6 that every thought of man was only wicked continually. Perhaps the mention of the sons of Elohim & the daughters of men is a symptom of people profaning the name of the Lord & thereby allowing demonic influence/intrusion into society?
