      @@fightercanada6468 HOW is that a huge advantage to put the ball in mahomes' hands???? lol The mistake was kicking the FG instead of going for it.
      And I understand Kyle was trusting his D to get the ball back. The game itself contradicts what you're saying. Mahomes had just had a 1:57 game tying drive (that I believe they could've won the game right there if the PAT was not blocked and they needed a TD to win), and he just drove the field in the 6 minutes they had anyway.
      On top of that, there's not just the scenarios of "scoring a FG or a TD". There's the "no scoring" too, like a 3 & out. And by that scenario it also doesn't matter because they're getting the ball back anyway.

    • @segueoyuri
      @segueoyuri 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

      About the stupid mistakes you're partially right. The stupid mistakes were: 1 - penalties in the first 2 drives (not really the Niners mistakes' if you consider there was not a single flag thrown for offensive holding on the chiefs), 2 - a punt hitting a moving guy on the foot (I'm not sure how you could avoid that. Letting your guy be tackled? Also no one knows where a football will bounce. It could've been a Niners recovery just as well) 3 - blocked PAT (I also honestly can't think how's that a mistake. Good play by the chiefs and that's it). There were mistakes but those didn't cost the Niners all that much. I guess conservative play calling cost more than those mistakes. And we didn't had fair officiating.
      The "misunderstanding of new overtime rules" has literally nothing to do with it. By old rules, you win if it's a TD, the other team get the ball if it's a FG. If they score a TD they win. That's exactly what happened yesterday. And there was 6s on the clock when Hardman got into the endzone. What difference does it make? How's this news?? lol

      So when Mahomes and the Chiefs were the #1 seed in the AFC after the 2018 season, and in the AFC Championship game in Kansas City in January of 2019 when the Tom Brady Patriots won the OT coin flip, took the ball, and scored a TD to win 37-31.....no one b*tched about a rule change back then. Never forget that. When it helped the Patriots it wasn't even discussed as a rule change. It's only after the Chiefs did the same thing to Buffalo a couple years later that people p*ssed and moaned.
      I love what Mahomes said to Boomer and Booger in the post game interview. I'm paraphrasing: "They changed the rule because of us, so we used that change to our advantage. I wonder what they're going to change it to now?" LOL. Give 'em both barrels, Patrick!

      They wouldn't have gone for the field goal , they would have gone for the touchdown and if they don't make it, then the defense has a chance to hold them deep in their own territory and make them punt. So yeah, it mattered.
      In overtime, you don't take the 3, you just don't, because Mahomes has shown us that he only needs 13 seconds to get into field goal range for a tie, but being Mahomes you know he's going for the win, not to tie it up !

      Exactly. I don’t understand why them not knowing had anything to do with anything. Even if the miners scored a TD, the Chiefs still came down and scored. There’s no analytics to this. Nonsense. SF scored a FG and nearly won the game. KC had to make a fourth and one just to keep their must-score drive alive. All the credit goes to Mahomes for being clutch. Purdy had a fine game but cannot be trusted to do the same under that same pressure. Much better for Purdy to get the ball first without the pressure of a must-score drive.

    • @proteuswest1084
      @proteuswest1084 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      People keep saying this, but in college, they get the ball on the opponent 25 and coaches still opt to kick the field goal in OT all the time because putting up zero points means that the other team only needs a field goal to win. It's even more pronounced with NFL OT rules, where they have to actually drive down the field about 30-40 yards to get in to field goal range, and preventing a field goal is a legitimate possibility.

      @@proteuswest1084 The SF defense was playing well, especially in the first half. How the hell can you not trust your defense to hold Mahomes to a FG? All credit must go to Mahomes for stepping up in the clutch on a *must-score drive* . No offense to Purdy, but he has never faced that type of pressure. SF made the right decision in electing to receive and not putting Purdy in a must-score position.

    They knew the rules. Shanahan was asked about it, and his reasoning was that if both teams scored a tochdown, the overtime rules would revert back to sudden death on the Niners second possession. He said his analytic guys examined the new overtime rules and determined this was the best strategy. But it only works if you score a touchdown.
