Oh this is cool! A third version! SO LEMME STOP ANY CONFUSION RIGHT NOW! shed some light was featured on shinedowns second album, "Us and Them". There was a previously unreleased studio version of the song featuring Lzzy Hale doing back up vocals and singing the second verse alongside dueting the chorus. Now this seems to be a cover, with the roles reversed. Lzzy singing the main vocals, brent doing backings. Simple as!
Coming back to these videos existing since the late 2000s and early 2010s. Maybe the last great era of rock music. Still remembering the thrill of discovering new bands on TH-cam after watching MVs on TV. Miss the thrill of those times.
+MT Michelle 84 As much as I agree, about Amy Lee being the best female rock singer, I don't really think she can be compared to Lzzy Hale. They're both phenomenal, but have totally different styles. That's just my opinion though!
Total horse shit ! Amy can't do half of the rock vocalizations that Lzzy does effortlessly! Her screams , rasp , power wale , & even her range is bigger than Amy's. All Amy has is a great tone to her voice. Nothing truly rock about her voice . It's simply EV behind her that even constitutes her as a rock vocalist. Listen to Lzzy sing Crazy on you by Heart & then ask yourself if Amy could half ass pull that off . If you think so, you have NO clue about vocalists at all so therefore your opinions are simply shit anyway.
Its not horse shit at all. I am a vocalist. Rasp and screaming is not singing. I can sing Heart better than Lzzy hale. Its not hard. Yes Lzzy can sing but she is not the best singer out there. Sorry dude. Amy Lee has amazing range and can definitely sing any Heart song thrown her way. Ann Wilson was the one who started it all for woman in rock, she's a pioneer. Lacey Sturm is better than Lzzy Hale.
These are my 2 favorite bands. I've heard ALL of there songs..................................YET IM JUST NOW FINDING THIS?!!?!? SO AWESOME!!!! BTW.............i ship it XD
This is amazing! Shinedown is my favorite, and I love this song. I also love Halestorm and have since I first heard them 4 or 5 years ago. Amazing! Thanks for posting this! I swear I've watched/listened to this 70 times since I found it 2 days ago. Lol.
There are three versions of this song, just Shinedown, Shinedown with Lzzy Hale doing some of the vocals, and Halestorm with Brent Smith doing some of the vocals. Not that complicated.
I'm falling apart again And I can't find a way to make amends And I'm looking in both directions But it's make believe, it's all pretend So, Shed some light on me And hold me up in disbelief And shed some light on me And tell me something that I'll believe in It's innocence within the maze But I have chosen the wrong way I'm still getting over who I was There's no sense of trust, there's no definition of love So, Shed some light on me And hold me up in disbelief And shed some light on me And tell me something that I'll believe in I know now, it's not who you are It's who you know And I see clearly now, which way to go I remember the way I fell from above And I recall the way I was So, Shed some light on me And hold me up in disbelief And shed some light on me And tell me something that I'll believe in Shed some ling on me And hold me up in disbelief And shed some light on me And tell me something that I'll believe Tell me something that I'll, Tell me something that I'll believe Tell me something that I'll believe Something I'll believe
hey hey hey this is shinedown feat izzy this is her covering his song i think they should do it more because together they rock seperate they are great but together is awsome
@RunningWithin I know. But this version is performed by Halestorm and features Brent Smith as guest vocals, which can cause confusion since he wrote the song. ;)
Except it isn't. This version is actually Halestorm (the whole band) covering a Shinedown song and having Brent Smith on guest vocals. As stated in the description, it was part of a Halestorm special survey, not a Shinedown survey.
@Melanieshaman Nahh, Hes lip syncing, in a live breaking inside video, Brent "sings" the wrong lyric, but the song says something different. Myles may not sound exactly on par with the album, but whats the point if they sound EXACTLY the same, its just not a "live" experience. Kennedy is touring and making an album with Slash, and has done work with former Zeppelin members(Page, etc). Somethings working for him.
@silhouettes88 Which is a good explanation, cause it is possible to write music and not preform it. I wont claim to know the history of this song (or Breaking Inside) but Brent could've written this FOR Lzzy so they could preform it as a duet with her band, they way she did for him.
You know after hearing her sing with Shinedown on "Breaking Inside" I think it was, I thought this would be a disappointment. I actually really like this :)
They both did a version of the song, obv. Brent originally wrote it but gave Halestorm permission to record their own version. Lzzy and Brent are friends, so I don't see how there would be an issue and why everyone on TH-cam is making a big deal when they aren't even batting an eyelash at the fact. Grow up people. Its a good song anyway, just enjoy it.
That would be an incredible album. Lzzy has an amazing voice BUT Brent has such strength in his voice that she doesn't 'bully' him out of the song. I'd love to hear a collaboration album between Smith and Hale.
Even though it's a little soft for my liking, I think Halestorm and Shinedown should start working together more often. They could make a badass combination!
@finallu65 the sounds are similar, but i feel Halestorm puts much more life into their songs. besides, both bands are good, why bother hatin' cuz they have similar sound?
@Melanieshaman That's because he was sick when he performed, for someone to perform to that kind of level when they're sick is astonishing to me, both Brent and Myles are my favourite singers but imo they're too different to compare
@opusdei7777 - huge overstatement dude..he's good no doubt..but best?!? with myles kennedy, corey taylor, adam gontier, chad kroeger around?! nah..i dont think so..
listentoyoutube - (be sure to click the actual conversion links, not the advertisement buttons) - will convert this video into an MP3 file for your listening pleasure! :)
@machoboy99 as you said, it's opinion. I think it's generational as well. you can have all the range in the world, but if the listener can't "feel" it, it's pointless. As for the lip syncing thing.... gimme proof, i have seen him live and he doesn't use lip syncing or a back track. Without "much" studio help is still studio help.
Brent smith and Lzzy are like the male and female versions of eachother as vocalists. This is nuts.
its true
maybe i'm rushing it ... but brent has the best rock voice i ever heard. simply amazing!
I just checked... yep still true today!
Scott Stapp, Axl Rose, and then Brent. He's in 3rd. But 3rd is high 😎
12 years later and I think you was on to something. Lol.
12 years have passed and you still right
Checking in from the future: you weren't wrong. He's one of the best rock singer of this generation. Actually, they both are.
Two of the best voices in music not just Rock music either
+Dan Dennis REbecca Black and Justin Bieber
+Dan Dennis REbecca Black and Justin Bieber
Hell no
+Levi Ackerman That's not even rock, bro. Not even close.
+CounterSkil LOL. They just want attention.
This is such a fantastic duo! Love how their voices compliment each others!
You know it's funny but I actually prefer this version over the original. This one was freaking epic!!!!
The 2 most powerful voices in rock finally together. Awesome
Oh this is cool! A third version!
SO LEMME STOP ANY CONFUSION RIGHT NOW!
shed some light was featured on shinedowns second album, "Us and Them".

Simple as!
Well said. The only people who are not worried about who did what and wrote what are the artists, and they are both awesome.
Coming back to these videos existing since the late 2000s and early 2010s. Maybe the last great era of rock music. Still remembering the thrill of discovering new bands on TH-cam after watching MVs on TV. Miss the thrill of those times.
hands down on the best singers out today!
The Ulfhedinn Amy Lee is the best rock female singer out right now. Brent is good but so is Myles Kennedy.
+MT Michelle 84 Agreed on Amy, disagree with Miles Kennedy. Not a big fan of his
+MT Michelle 84 As much as I agree, about Amy Lee being the best female rock singer, I don't really think she can be compared to Lzzy Hale. They're both phenomenal, but have totally different styles. That's just my opinion though!

This might be my favorite version of this song.
Brent Smith is other worldly badass.
feel this one personally and the message is coming from beautiful voices!
Brent Smith is fucking badass period!
These are my 2 favorite bands. I've heard ALL of there songs..................................YET IM JUST NOW FINDING THIS?!!?!?
SO AWESOME!!!!
BTW.............i ship it XD
love the tune .. way to go Brent Smith, great job with Halestorm..
if u put in ur earbuds and blast it straight onto your eardrums you will find that the quality only improves :)
Im diggin the colaberations between the 2 bands. Really cool to see
This is amazing! Shinedown is my favorite, and I love this song. I also love Halestorm and have since I first heard them 4 or 5 years ago. Amazing! Thanks for posting this! I swear I've watched/listened to this 70 times since I found it 2 days ago. Lol.
He's being featured on his own song?
+Chris Ry. lol yep
I think it's because Halestorm is performing it. they're do a lot of collaboration work. breaking inside is probably my favorite
I guess Brent wrote it for them and they invited him to the recording.
No, its shinedowns song, this is a cover featuring him.
There are three versions of this song, just Shinedown, Shinedown with Lzzy Hale doing some of the vocals, and Halestorm with Brent Smith doing some of the vocals. Not that complicated.
2 amazing vocalists and amazing song
The vibe is amazing
i want these two to have kids, so the messiah of rock can be born... a talent gene pool like that? holy shit
I'm falling apart again
And I can't find a way to make amends
And I'm looking in both directions
But it's make believe, it's all pretend
So,
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in
It's innocence within the maze
But I have chosen the wrong way
I'm still getting over who I was
There's no sense of trust, there's no definition of love
So,
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in
I know now, it's not who you are
It's who you know
And I see clearly now, which way to go
I remember the way I fell from above
And I recall the way I was
So,
Shed some light on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe in
Shed some ling on me
And hold me up in disbelief
And shed some light on me
And tell me something that I'll believe
Tell me something that I'll,
Tell me something that I'll believe
Tell me something that I'll believe
Something I'll believe
Reminds me of “Broken” by Seether feat. Amy Lee, as well as “Warmness on the Soul” by Avenged Sevenfold.
really AMAZING :) Your voices are so great together!!!
I wish this version of the song was available for download on iTunes, Spotify, or Apple Music! Ugh!
Ok so I thought it was just me not able to find this on Spotify.
I can never get enough of their voices. Pure perfection and my idols
Well I know you just misspelled Lzzy Hale, ;o
T-wulf Walruff No, she spelled amazing correctly.
Omg wtf my two fav bands singing my fav song together !!? AWESOME !!
This is awesome. I have recently discovered Halestorm, and I love Shinedown!
This is a different version than the collaboration that I've heard of them before, and this one is much better
they should play together more often. they sound so good
hey hey hey this is shinedown feat izzy this is her covering his song i think they should do it more because together they rock seperate they are great but together is awsome
Both great bands too

@RunningWithin I know. But this version is performed by Halestorm and features Brent Smith as guest vocals, which can cause confusion since he wrote the song. ;)
How can I find high quality version?
simply THE BEST XXX
Except it isn't. This version is actually Halestorm (the whole band) covering a Shinedown song and having Brent Smith on guest vocals.
As stated in the description, it was part of a Halestorm special survey, not a Shinedown survey.
Thank you for this. Just...thank you.

I think that would be an amazing combo!
@morrisdm44 Shinedowns upcoming release "Sound of Madness Deluxe Edition" (nov. 23) includes "Breaking Inside" feat. Lzzy.
Can't wait to hear it :)
This Shed Some Light song by Halestorm feat. Brent Smith is a far from joyful type of song yet still performed in a brilliant way.
Epic
i can't get enough of this & i shared it on my tumblr as well :P
Of all they ears I've been listening to Shine Down, I'm finding this song now ...
I love this version
Was just thinking that. Some people just want the last word. Great song thanks for making vid.
Im absolutely in love...
@silhouettes88 Which is a good explanation, cause it is possible to write music and not preform it. I wont claim to know the history of this song (or Breaking Inside) but Brent could've written this FOR Lzzy so they could preform it as a duet with her band, they way she did for him.
I wish the version was on itunes
You know after hearing her sing with Shinedown on "Breaking Inside" I think it was, I thought this would be a disappointment.
I actually really like this :)
They both did a version of the song, obv.
Brent originally wrote it but gave Halestorm permission to record their own version.
Lzzy and Brent are friends, so I don't see how there would be an issue and why everyone on TH-cam is making a big deal when they aren't even batting an eyelash at the fact. Grow up people. Its a good song anyway, just enjoy it.
They should do an album together
That would be an incredible album. Lzzy has an amazing voice BUT Brent has such strength in his voice that she doesn't 'bully' him out of the song. I'd love to hear a collaboration album between Smith and Hale.
Ii love this guys
No sense of trust , no definition of love
This is my favourite song of all time.. I just don't know how i feel about this cover....
Even though it's a little soft for my liking, I think Halestorm and Shinedown should start working together more often. They could make a badass combination!

@Melanieshaman That's because he was sick when he performed, for someone to perform to that kind of level when they're sick is astonishing to me, both Brent and Myles are my favourite singers but imo they're too different to compare

I much prefer this version of the song!
Brent Smith wrote this song...Lzzy is the "featured" voice...do your research
