Having the sound effects always be in key with the music is a nice touch.
It gives it a Rez effect.
I remember that hack!Sonic 1, despite being much more limited than 2, has a lot of potential for great hacks (now I wish Sonic 3&K was easier to mod/hack)
It's kind of an older one, but it's an awesome hack.
