You should put the mirror inside the bathroom instead on the outside side of the door so the kids could like check out they’re outfit without being embarrassed
Having a poster in the bathroom is not weird in fact I love it when my teachers put posters in the bathroom.
I've fell down a rabbit hole of teacher prep videos and I'm really enjoying it. Gonna be going into high school soon, I hope my teachers are as thoughtful as you are!

On the bathroom door you could do random bathroom and hygiene facts possibly even how to sign bathroom in asl so if you have quite time and they raise their hand to go they can know how to sign it.

For the lights... by high school teacher did the same thing. She put string lights around her classroom and only had 1 row of ceiling lights on but covered them in a semi-sheer construction paper, just to make it softer. You could get fabric too. Everyone loved it!

Watching you set up your classroom has been so comforting. I haven't been able to get back into my classroom in months and we are starting remotely. Setting up my room always pumped me up for the school year! Watching this made me feel so at peace and calm about the school year for some reason.🌞

You should put the mirror in the bathroom so they can see if they’re outfit is good but if it’s outside than they might get embarrassed
**For the bathroom door** My high school has a like plastic thing (I forgot what it’s called but it’s like a big sheet protector that’s more heavy duty) and every week they put in new different words and there definitions. I think that would be a really nice idea especially since your teaching language arts.
Behind your kidney table you should move the shelf’s to the corner on each wall and your rolling cart where you shelf with 3 shelf’s is right now, and also maybe you could put a lamp in between the 2 bookshelf in the corner!. Just an idea!! Good luck ☺️

For the sticky stuff in your bins that are on top of your book shelves, if you put a bit of hand sanitizer and scratch it with your nail it comes off right away and the bin won’t be sticky.
You should put like a tray or something under your pencil sharpener so it doesn’t get messy.💕

My school is doing A and B groups where in week one, Group A is in person Monday / Wednesday / Friday and Group B is in person Tuesday / Thursday. In week 2, Group A is in person Tuesday / Thursday and Group B is in person Monday / Wednesday/ Friday. Makes sense, right?
For my school it’s group A goes in Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday is a cleaning day and group B goes in Thursday and Friday, and the days were not in school it’s just online, I’m going into high school and I’m group B

just me who loves the look of the classroom the mirror is really thoughtful and i love your library when i was at primary school i literally lived in my school library because i am a little bookworm it was my goal to read every book in there ad i got really far but i suppose the 3 years i put my heart to that was not quite long enough especially as they got more and more books
I am LOVING these! I'm about to apply to transfer from community college to university and have a slow semester with 1 class so I'll be watching teaching videos and window shopping nonstop! Any advice is appreciated! Can't wait to see more of your content!

I’m a little late but for the bottom of the mirror you could put ‘and more’ or something like that in the black from the top, that would be really sweet. I also saw a comment saying you could put it on the inside of the toilet door and I think that would be nice as the kids might feel more comfortable in the private of the loo you know. Your classroom is looking so cute already!!!!
Looks great! I think putting your kidney table between the two windows would be a good choice. Your two shelves and rolly cart could be behind you. The library would be perfect in that nook across the room! Just a thought! Maybe when you get your furniture you can move these around to figure out the best set up. Good luck!
I’m a first year 5th grade teacher too! I just got hired a little less than a week ago 😅 so I feel super overwhelmed with everything that needs to get done ! Our Back to school night is next week and students start August 25th! Trying to navigate the all virtual part is a little tricky but I’m starting to get things done !

You could put a small mirror at the front so you can see the bathroom. You should face the expo markers down so the ink lasts.
I’m not worried about not being able to see the bathroom door! I’m only going to have 9-10 kids at a time. I will only be at my small group table for less than half of the time that we are in class.

I just found your channel/this series & I'm so excited to follow along because I'm starting to set up my own classroom too♡ I'm actually going in today for the 1st time since May & moving into a new classroom so I'm going to post my own journey as well on my channel, hopefully by tomorrow!!~ It's been an intimating task that I've been anxious about all summer because of all the unknowns & changes so hopefully videos like ours can help other fellow teachers out as it's nice to get inspiration & support from people who can relate! It'll be my 2nd year teaching & I teach 3rd grade~ what about you/anyone else?? Other than changing my seating chart to be more socially distanced & getting rid of items that can't be easily sanitized like rugs + pillows & adding distanced line/floor spots throughout my room, what other ideas do you/anyone else have for trying to make a classroom as safe as possible for our kiddos? I've always prioritized making kids FEEL safe, comfortable, & welcomed so it'll hopefully not be too challenging to also focus on making sure they are actually safe this year! Good luck to everyone else♡ Let's all support each other^^ Looking forward to the rest of this series~ feel free to let me know if anyone else is also doing a series like this so I can check it out too!!
I would recommend keeping the doubles and put them in a little bin because sometimes kids like to have a book they read together

I would put the health posters everyone is using on the back of the bathroom door. There are social distancing and handwashing reminders, for example.
For behind the door of the bathroom you should add like a poster that says don’t forget to wash your hands or something like that or a how to wash your hands correctly

I don’t have a closet or any built in storage either 😩 I do have a very tall shelf that is bolted to the wall but that is no where near enough for storing materials and all other stuff! Try to ask your principal if they have extra metal closets. That’s what I plan to do

Heard your comment about the library and kidney table and I had a suggestion. If you but your library in the corner like you said and do two shelves on each side. You should be able to fit your kidney teacher table space I. The front corner where you said that your TV would go. This was your kidney table and library are in that little cove and all your student desks can go from in front of the white board and back to the bathroom. Plus as a bonus if they put that second whiteboard in the fri t you could use part of that for small group instruction. If needed. Just another teachers perspective..I know it so hard doing your room.
You could take that wide shelf and place it in your bathroom as a storage shelf.
You could put up letters that say "Don't forget to be Awesome!" (DFTBA) on the back of the BR door or around the mirror. Tip for the stars: Move around the stars a bit so the same colors aren't so close together! Maybe that will help to make it a bit more varied. :)

18:23 that’s my birthday! I know that this is an old video but I watched this video last year right before 6th grade and now here I am again watching this a year later! I’ll be going into 7th grade now! My school is a little weird, k-3rd is Elementary, 4-6th is middle school and 7th and up is high school. So I’ll be going into high school for the first time! Im a little nervous but still really excited! I like school!

I love watching new teachers set up their rooms, you have such creative ideas! One gentle suggestion: you might want to code your books in your library so that the students know which basket to put it back in. Even 5th graders don’t always put things back where they belong. Also, being able to see all areas of the room is crucial. Kids love little corners and they know when they are out of sight. You probably won’t be at your desk much when the students are there anyway. I’m so jealous that you have your own bathroom!
Our kids aren’t allowed to put the books back since they have to sit out for 3+ days until being used again. I would’ve come up with a better system for putting the books back but since they can’t because of COVID, i’m not worrying about it right now!
