Neravar seemed to writhe somewhat in his seat, growing restless for from his perspective Dagoth Ur was giving justification to his maddening plague. “What am i to make of such ramblings Voryn? Am i to believe that you seek to reveal some great truth to the Mer who you torture in their dreams?” Neravar said, his voice a questioning but also frustrated sound that made Dagoth Ur place a hand solemnly over the shining gold like metal of the Dwemer mask he wore. “Neravar oh my friend Neravar, how can you, you! Who have seen the false gods of the tribunal for who they really are, who have died and been resurrected, who have read the works of that snake Vivek, how can you not see the truth?” Dagoth Ur said, a mild desperation in his voice, as if he was to convince Neravar of something dire that he simply couldn’t see but was all the same looming over him… “Enough of this madness Voryn, i am glad to have seen you, to know that you were once the Mer i called friend, but i am still on a mission from Azura herself, either cease your efforts… or let us finally cast aside this nonsense and do battle!” Neravar said, standing for only a moment before Dagoth Ur spoke. “Its all a dream Neravar…” he said, his words echoing off the stone walls of the chamber, his tone was that of a man finally confessing a truth he had previously hid. “What?” Said Neravar, cocking his head to the side and speaking in a baffled tone. “Its all a dream… here, sit, and i will explain,” the Mer who had once been Voryn Dagoth said, putting away the black covered book, before pulling out another, this one’s cover was a mix of all colors that had ever been, and Neravar’s eyes vibrated in his skull when he looked at it for too long. The cover read “The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath” and below that it also said, “Fungi from Yuggoth”
Dagoth's voice for Dagon and Beyond the Wall of Sleep are surprisingly perfect. I had already read Beyond the Wall of Sleep, but it is far more satisfying an experience in Dagoth Ur's voice, for whatever reason.
@@downward7296 he was a product of his time. Racism was an open thing during his time. But he came to mature and realise those beliefs weren't his own but rather the influence of his peers. A sad habit that still persists to this day but nowhere near as much as Lovecrafts time

Strangely there is such a thing as a habitual vacancy of the mountaineer. High mountains are a place hostile and alien to humans. Anyone who habitually goes there is sure to become habitually vacant.

Lovecraft has an air of high self esteem, but Ur's voice makes it seem as though the stories were written for him.
