Is it any wonder that Tom Warson has won eight major championships? Like Gary Player and Lee Trevino, Watson has more insights into the swing than anyone around today. Certainly, a one word key to trigger an exact rhythm is as important as any aspect of the swing. Even more!! Sam Snead once observed that he believed that Tom Watsons swing was technically even better than Ben Hogan or Jack Nicklaus!! Watson's weakness was being a little too quick at times. Yet, he is still good enough to rank in anyone's all-time top ten. Top five is more like it!! That obviously means his advice is top five as well. Makes sense to me.
That's how competitive it was in jacks era, he had palmer, player,Watson, casper, lee Trevino, sevi, ramon floyd and many others that won more than 2 majors. His era was the most competitive in terms of major winners. That makes his 18 major wins and 19 2nd place finishes extraordinary.
I got to follow Freddy around on practice day here at Pinehurst many, many years ago. His swing looked so smooth and effortless but, if your were close by, you could hear him grunt a little when he was giving one the beans! Got to talk with Freddy for just a few minutes that day and he said, "if I could really swing easy my back wouldn't hurt so much"! He was truly a gentleman!
Great advice Mr. Watson..Thanks I like to take the club back low and slow and then at the top unleash it at the ball so the club head does all the work and still try to stay in balance....
A teaching club pro and good friend of mine always said you have to swing with your tempo. We all have this internal "clock" and if you fight with your clock you'll never be consistent!
Ag358 has a comment that is completely spot on. JACK'S ERA WAS FAR TOUGHER THAN THE ERA OF TIGER WOODS. The number of great players in that era was a fraternity of about a hundred!! That makes Jacks 37 wins and runner ups in majors that much more ludicrous. The tour is deeper now. But not at the apex of the game. There were more players with what Gary Player called "The It Factor" in that era than in any period before or since. Case Closed. That makes the comments of Thomas Sturgis Watson that much more impactful.

Sam Snead is definitely the GOAT in regards to rhythm. I ❤ this channel!
Definitely the sweetest swing I’ve ever seen.

😂 I'm guilty of this.
This has been around for donkey’s years nearly 40years ago it was severiano for your backswing and Ballesteros for your downswing
Load the club and fire the ball!
Arthur Guinness is my rhythm saying.
Nice! Thx for sharing.
Wat about I'm over it
He's crazy as can be Ernie ells has a faster swing rhythm than all of them even Nick price it's a fact
The big easy? You sure?
@@Stantheman848 guaranteed 100% they tested Ernie els against Nick price without question he was faster
@@earlfultz8603 but faster where?
@@Stantheman848 start to finish
@@earlfultz8603 eyes can be deceptive.... ernie does look a lot let rushed.
I’ve been saying “Freddie Couples” since the 80s to stay in rhythm
