Another method of this trick that I like to use is to flip the card at the bottom of the deck so it looks like the top, so the spectator puts their card into the pile upside down compared to all the other cards (besides the one I just barely flipped of course) portraying the same effect, with less effort.
OK, so in the "performance", you let them lose the card into a spread out deck, essentially ACTUALLY losing the card, so there would be no way to "control the card to the top", as suggested in the "tutorial." Clarity needed please ;)

Hey I notice that in the tutorial, he taught about controlling the selected card, he put the selected card in the middle of the deck and put it back on top. But in the first part of the trick, (non-tutorial) it's a bit different.

I don't think you needed to explain it first, just do the double lift and say "oh, this would be easy" and hide the card. But really, nice execution. Edit: I suppose the initial display to serve to show that nothing is packed in the deck beforehand.

Your first second deal was obvious to me. The deal itself was okay, but there was no justification to put the face-down card on top of the deck and then deal it off the deck face down. I thought, 'Why not just put it down on the table?' That told me you probably switched the card with a second deal. I guessed the method for the trick, but I've been doing magic for over 50 years. You did it so well I wasn't sure that's what you did though. I was just lucky. Well done.
