If nothing…the wise sages Josh & Erin have taught us time and time again that blind is best, when it comes to flights and samples. Overlooking hype and price tags, takes you to the essence of the whisk(e)y. I’d love Blind Box since my son is at college and my wife is whiskey adverse😂, so I have no one to routinely devise blind flights for me.
Double blinds teach you so much-about different kinds of whiskey, about value, about personal preference, and more. Plus they’re often surprising and always fun, which is part of why your channel is so enjoyable.
Whiskey Vault ,(Daniel), did a great review on the Monogahela Rye style. He used the A Overholt rye. So it's a style of rye whiskey not the grain. Monogahela is a Pennsylvania river. One of the 3 rivers in Pittsburgh. Pronounced Mo non ga hay la. Great video. Love the blindbarrel vidoes.
Blinds are awesome because you get to taste whiskey from an unbiased point of view. My wife has set up a couple for me and I’m always intrigued by the different tasting notes you get when you don’t know what you’re drinking. Love the channel. Keep drinking great whiskey and having fun!
Thanks for another great video. Doing blinds are the perfect way to remove bias from the tasting experience. Something like Blind barrels provides a cool opportunity to try things one would otherwise never likely try. If I saw the bottles you blinded today on a shelf, I would probably walk right past them without much thought as I would know nothing about them. Having a chance to taste them puts them on the radar.
Blind tasting is a great way to fellowship with friends, to train you palate, and to try new whiskeys in an unbiased manner. I purchased the Fred Minnick Kit for all of my family members which we are going to use together at Christmas. Packaging is awesome!!
I like doing blind flights for this simple fact that it takes all the bias out of it. They have also helped me hone my nosing and tasting notes. this is the first year that I have really gotten into taking notes on the bourbon/whiskey that I am enjoying.
Blind barrels is such a great idea! Definitely something I need to look into buying. Love tasting blind and these would make it so much easier. Love your channel and love watching your videos!
My son-in-law (a firefighter/paramedic and new dad) and I love blind tasting. It's always surprising how our perceptions aren't always what the tasting reveals.
The only reason I haven't signed up for Blind Barrels is the cost. Some months it'd be doable, but most it wouldn't - and it would *seriously* cut into what I buy here. But it sure sounds like fun, and I'm glad y'all have been publicizing it. 🙂 2:49 Either TRIT-i-cale or trit-i-ca-le. I first heard of it on the original *Star Trek* episode "The Trouble With Troubles." It's a hybrid grain - wheat and rye IIRC, but I'm too lazy just now to look it up. 🙂 5:24 Have y'all ever watched *Odd Squad?* Ms. O is addicted to juice boxes. 🙂 7:01 Ages ago I worked with a lady who lived in Lewisville, and sometimes I'd carry her to the house after work. That Unbendt rye has a fascinating mash bill.
@stuffandwhiskey *Odd Squad* is a kids show my granddaughter turned me on to years ago. Unlike most of those shows it doesn't talk down to kids, and it's hilarious. In the Christmas episode Santa Claus tells Ms. O that she's on the naughty list because she sometimes raises her voice - and she screams, "WHEN HAVE I EVER RAISED MY VOICE???!??" 😂
The Axe Hole from Paso Robles is only about 1.5 hours from me. I’m stopping there next time through! I’ve heard about Unbendt from another TH-camr and they have some nice offerings. I’ve also seen a few videos on the Doc Holiday and it’s always reviewed highly! Cheers!
Hey Josh there was a Doc Holiday at the meet and greet back in the spring. It was the 6 yr and I think his name was Dave brought it from Texas. I remember because he gave it to me to take home. Great time, great guy, great pour!
You guys are awesome and fun to watch! My wife and I watch you together. Anyway: "Triticale" is pronounced like "tritt-uh-kale-ee". If you're an old-school Shatner Star Trek fan, you need to watch season 2 episode 15 titled "The Trouble with Tribbles".
Blind flights are the way to go. It can save you a ton of money too. There has been a number of bottles I wanted but after they showed up in a blind “NOPE! “
Love the content, your videos influenced my wife to make up blind samples for me so she can “play” along as I taste and guess the bourbon as I break it down. #StuffandWhiskey & #BlindBarrels for the win
Have never done a blind. Would like to start one now after watching your "blind" videos. We are such a "label" society. Would be interesting to take labels off of everything we consume and see where our go-to's rank. Thanks for the opportunity.
I live in Grand Rivers KY (2 hrs away) and love you guys... Your content is on point. I'm pretty new to Whiskey /Bourbon and really enjoy your tasting notes, even if I can't pick up on some of those flavors (no matter what I'm drinking... 😂). I will say that I like a few Bourbons, but Alot of them taste the same to me.... Or maybe I'm not a big Bourbon fan.... But hey... I keep buying and I keep trying 😂🤣 Lord help me!
Thanks for the kind words! It’s a journey and process-one that took us a long time to learn how to associate and articulate what we were tasting-but the fun is in the journey **and** in finding out where you’re preferences lie. Cheers and enjoy the ride!
Had a tasting all lined up at Liberty Pole with some old friends the night before our 50th high school reunion. But then hurricane Helene hit, knocked my power out for 8 days, put a tree on my roof and tore up the interstates so I couldn't make it. Very interested in their ryes.
I like blind flights and I can not lie, You bottle chuggers can't deny, When a blind lines up, you don't know what's in your cup, but you drink it anyway You get sprunk
The Price is SO OFF that last pour is not even near 130 the distillery sells it for 185 and total wine sells it for 175. Should be a total THUMBS DOWN Doc Holliday Straight 10 Yr Bourbon
Pricing is always all over the place, but what we do like about Blind Barrels is what you just highlighted-they often have stuff for cheaper than you can find it elsewhere.

blind tasting is the ultimate (and humbling) test, and the best way to learn about your palate & refine your tasting experience
Great blind flight! I love curating blind flights for buddies! This is right up my alley! Great job Josh and Erin!
You get to discover new whiskeys without bias
Adding Blind Barrels to my Christmas list. Everything you guys do a video of these, I find 1 or 3 things I want a bottle of.
These blind flights are set up so well and to be able to order what you like right away is a nice experience! Cheers!
Started doing my own blinds after finding your channel and love what it brings to the table and is just a surprise waiting to happen. Great stuff!
I like blind tastings because they allow you to try bourbon without biases in play. They surprise you and that's awesome!

You introduced me to Blind Barrels about a year ago - thank you! I agree with #1 pick! It was really good!
Blinds are great because I’m constantly surprised / impressed by how little I know about what I actually like. Great vid guys.
Blind flights are so great to find tasting notes you might normally ignore when tasting things in isolation or knowing what you "should" taste.
Blinds are awesome because you get to taste whiskey from an unbiased point of view. My wife has set up a couple for me and I’m always intrigued by the different tasting notes you get when you don’t know what you’re drinking.

Blind tasting is best way of learning your palate without any bias!

Love blind flights. Can make you a little crazy at times but pretty fun!
Blind flights are great for trying new whiskies as well as revisiting ones you think you like or dislike but could be based on hype or bias.
Dbl Blinds are the best way to find bottles you enjoy regardless of price and names. Keep the double blinds going!
I enjoy doing blind flights as it removes the bias and I enjoy trying to guess what I am drinking.

Hi Erin and Josh. Blind blinds are good to see what you get out off the whiskey, not what you think should be there.
Cheers! Blinds are a great way to compare and rate 🥃!

Enjoy watching the reviews and have been considering Blind Barrels myself. Getting a sample blind barrels would be great!!

Totally missed that bottle amongst the sea of other bottles!
@@stuffandwhiskey easy to do with the amount of bottles there.
Funny…I’ve seen that Doc Holliday all over down here, and always just walked right by. If only I had known….thats a good reason to do blinds.
Blind tasting is the only true way to get an unbiased sense of your palate preferences. All whiskey drinkers should do try it
I would love to try Blind Barrels
The next time you see Erin sitting out in a lawn chair sipping from a juice box use caution, Whiskey makes ya frisky ! LOL
😂😂
Love your content. I like doing blinds because I'm new to burbon and blinds help me figure out what I like without bias as to what's popular.
Blinds are so much fun and yet very hard to try and get them correct..🥃 keep up the great work you do..
Blind flights are great as you never know how you will taste or what samples you will get.

i have always thought about blind barrels...seems interesting
TRIT-UH-KAY-LEE is not used a lot but delicious! I like the idea of blind to taste new things you may not buy otherwise.
After watching, I am likely to order Blind Flights!

Love doing blinds but never tried ordering from a company. Would be fun to try
Really enjoy watching the videos, my wife and I are just starting to taste different whiskeys / bourbons
Sounds like a great deal. I want to try them asap.

Oh no, we hate to hear that! Mother Nature is no joke. The devastation from Helene was heartbreaking.

Tritt - eh - KAY - lee. A Latin portmanteau of triticum (wheat) & secale (rye). 😺
Love blinds to try something new. Even when you're sure you dont like something there's room to be surprised.
Love blind flights, I wish they sold a slightly more expensive pack that was all cask strength or something similar...
Lol... "Axe Hole"
I like blinds to eliminate bias. Be fun to try this package. Cheers 🥃
I was going to get Erin a bottle of Doc Holliday for Christmas but Blind Barrels is sold out😢
That’s okay. The sentiment is far too kind! Thank you for the thought, Scott!
What was bought that spoiled the budget?
What wasn’t? 😂
Jokes aside, barrel picks and associated expenses cut pretty heavily into our whiskey budget.
I just love watching you guys! You turn me on....... To whisk(e)y (!!!!), 😂 that I may not try otherwise. Thank you for what you do. 😊
