The underspin is my go to bait. 3” minnowz from zman has been killer for me all year long. Super confidence bait for me.

The Coolbaits underspin + 2.8 Keitech got my 9 yo son 15 bass. He called that morning his best day of fishing ever. So yes, these underspins are a cheat code!

Love the tip of the hook on the willow blade! All my years of fishing and I never thought of doing that. And I have put trailer hooks on so many different baits just never on an underspin. Thank you!

I always keep an Owner 3/0 flashy swim with a 3.8 keitech tied on all year round, especially in the fall. I fish a couple of residential lakes with a lot of boulders and rip-rap. Slow roll it on the bottom banging off of everything hard I can find makes them come unglued. Most of my biggest fall bass are caught this way every year.

A 3/8 oz underspin head with a 3.25" Rage Swimmer in green pumpkin has been THE top bait on my local waters for the last week and a half. They've been keying in on baitfish - primarily juvenile bluegill / baby bass and some shad. The green pumpkin has outfished white / clear colors and the 3.25 is the sweet spot size wise for me. My five best fish of the year have all fallen to that combo in the last week. Been great!

Always informative ! I prefer this channel over wired2fish because I find the info more useful most of the time. When threading the bait on the screw lock I find it easier to twist the bait on before running the hookpoint out of the back. You cannot go wrong with 6ft crank this time of year either .

The new Deps Frilled shad works great as an under-spin trailer- has a very tight, subtle action to it- really good for cold water. If that's still too much action for them you can always go to a fluke style bait- sometimes the paddle tail and the blade is just too much. I also like to throw other baits on the flashy swimmers- doesn't have to be a swim bait you know. I've thrown curly tail worms on them, little craws, little creature baits, the rage products seem to work pretty well in the summer time when they're really active. If you think about it, that's not really that odd- ppl do what's called "rage rigging" which is just putting a rage craw or something like that on a keel weighted swimbait hook and swimming horizontally through the water- well this just adds some flash to your rage rig. I've even thrown senkos on them- and it works.

another thing you can do with texas rigged swimbaits... is push a toothpick through it at the bend of the hook. it’ll stop the bait from getting all tore up and the hook ripped completely through it. you can also run a toothpick through the head of the bait as well, through the screw lock. it’ll help keep your bait from getting ripped off of the screw lock.
just push your toothpicks in to where you want it, then snip the ends off on each side. it’ll help your baits last longer and you’ll get more out of them.

Thank you for showing all your tips! It helps so much out on the water! I am curious though, I am an avid fisherman from Idaho with a mildly tight budget for gear. I am going to be in the market for a new rod/reel combo for christmas. I have watched your entire buyers guide series however, there are just so many options to choose from and it is overwhelming. I am wanting a new all around fishing rod/reel. Do you have any combos that come to mind for a general all around combo? Any where from $300-$400 for the combo. I would love to hear from yall. Thanks!! =)

Hey Tim question for you on one of your tips...I throw swimbaits a ton (primarily keitechs with the megabass okashira screw heads) and I've seen your tip regarding the super glue to keep your swimbait up but I'm wondering how hard is it to get that plastic off your swimbait once you super glue it on? I'll switch between a black/silver color to a rainbow trout pattern to blue/green's for bluegill colors all on the same lake on the same day. If I super glue that plastic on is it a pain to change the plastic? Even on heads like the okashira screwhead the bait slides off all the time, the keepers on those are horrible. I guess I can just go try it but figured I'd ask anyway. Tight lines man.

Do find that the under spin get broken off fairly easily bumping on the bottom. I bought a couple underspin heads like that and fished one yesterday for the first time. Caught two small bass on it but the blade broke off very quickly. Is this a common problem or was it just a cheap bait head?
