    Gaura Nataraj = White Nataraj
    Shiva is famously described as Karpoora Gauram ie as white as camphoor.
    Energy, elegance, speed and preciseness of Gaura Nataraj's dance is like watching THE NataRaja dance himself!

    Gaura brother for me it was shiva himself dancing with such precision and perfection hats off to you bro although you are from Latvia you have embraced our culture and learnt the Bharathanatyam dance form so well you are much better than crores of Indians who have no pride for their own performing art form. My eyes were transfixed watching you perform With dedication and ease. You are a master really whose soul is deep rooted in the dance form . The bhava's were just right for this nary a. God bless you.

    Gaura, what can I say.... Such a superb dance. Bharatanatyam is devotion personified in dance. Most dancers are female and their interpretation and expression is beautiful. But, may I say that you have opened my eyes to a masculine interpretation of the dance. It has broadened my understanding of this classical form. Simply wonderful, and thank you so much for sharing your talent. 🙏🙏

    Tiene talento si me dice que es la reencarnación de Shiva o uno de sus avatares le podría en unos instantes creer... No había visto nunca esta danza tan compleja, bien elaborada antes, tiene el sincronizmo, y todo... La verdad es la primera vez que veo este tipo de danza pero lo que mas me aterra son los pases, son posee de los libros indues sagrados.

      How come your name Gaurav?
      Are you from Indian ancestry?

    • @lyoshafurdak
      @lyoshafurdak  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No I don’t have any Indian roots :)
      I am devotee of Krishna from Brahma Madva Gaudiya Vaisnava sampradaya and this name was given to me by my spiritual master when I got initiated into this tradition. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was called Gaura Nataraj because he used to dance in front of chariot of Lord Jagannatha in Puri, and my name is Gaura Nataraj das- the servant of that dancing Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

    Can you share the lyrics for the kavithuvam solkattu with the meaning of the sahityam portion pl.... thanks

    • @lyoshafurdak
      @lyoshafurdak  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Unfortunately I don't have the solkattu. As far as the lyrics and meaning is concerned here is what I know:
      Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Karavalamba Stotra by Adi Sankara Bhagawat Pada.
      Lakshmi Nrsimha Karavalamba Stotram, also known as Lakshmi Narasimha Karunarasa
      Stotram is a 17-verse Stotram in praise of Lakshmi Narasimha. The Stotram is so
      called because each of these verses ends with the same refrain "Lakshmi
      Narasimha, Mama Dehi Karavalambam" which means "Oh Lord Narasimha,
      please lend me your helping hand". . Lakshmi Narasimha Karavalamba Stotram
      dedicated to the feet of Lord Lakshmi Nrsimha.
      “Srimad payonidhi nikethana chakra pane
      Bhogeendra Bhoga mani rajitha punya moorthe
      Yogeesha shaswatha sharanya Bhabdhi potha
      Lakshmi Nrsimha Mama Dehi Karavalambam”
      Meaning: Oh Great God Lakshmi
      Nrsimha, Who lives in the ocean of milk, Who holds the holy wheel as
      weapon, Who wears the gems on the head, Of Adhishesha as ornaments, Who
      has the form of good and holy deeds, Who is the permanent protector of sages, And
      who is the boat which helps us cross, This ocean of misery called life, Please
      give me the protection of your hands.
      Different names of Nrisimha are eing recited in the kavituvam:
      narasimha half-man
      half-lion
      diyva-simha divine
      lion
      ugra-simha terrifying lion
      ghora-vikrama terrifying activities
      jvalan-mukha effulgent face
      jvala-mali with effulgent garland
      mahajvala most effulgent
      mahadamstra great teeth
      yudha-prajna intelligent in battle (ready to fight)
      hiranyakasipu-dhvamsi destroys Hiranyakasipu
      daitya-danava-bhanjana destroys masses of demon and giants
      bhairavadambara causes terror by roaring in the sky
      visvambara maintains the universe
      vajra-damstra lightning-like teeth
      saranagata-vatsalaya
      namah Obeisances to The Lord Who is kind to those
      surrendered to Him (like the mother lioness who is kind to her cubs)

    A whie man need not emphasise his race with such an offensive epithet, and it is quite a reach to justify this with a comparison to Kapura Gauram regarding his performance, he is technically on tal and so quite good, However, in every one of his performances, Including his European Street Performances, there is a toal absence of Bhava, and far too much ocnceit in his renditions. Only one who is Indian by birth can cvapture the fine nuances of Bhava.

    • @lyoshafurdak
      @lyoshafurdak  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) This name was given to me by my spiritual master. It is a name of great saint and spiritual teacher- Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who is also known as Gauranga- "the one who has golden body", and as Gaura Nataraj because he used to dance in front of Lord Jagannath during Rath Yatra . It has nothing to do with the race and me being white. In fact, the full name is Gaura Nataraj das- which means "the servant of the Gaura Nataraj". 2) Aren't almost everyone in India has names of Gods and Goddesses? Rama, Chandrashekhar, Krishna and so on- does it mean their parents emphasise their superiority to others by giving their children such names and is it considered to be offensive? 3) "Only one who is Indian by birth can capture the fine nuances of Bhava". In my opinion this is what is called emphasising one's race. Bharata muni states in Natya Shastra that Natya is meant for humanity at large, not only Indians. And while I agree with you that my dancing is far from perfect- this is just due to the lack of regular practice, not because Indians have some special dancing gene. There are many examples of excellent white performers of Indian classical dance- Sophia Salingaros, Kassiyet Adillkhankyzy, Nikolina Nikoleski, Kumari Mayshark, Lucrezia Maniscotti etc.
      Love & Peace!

      Hamsaveni stop dis-crediting a professional dancer who is performing with precision and who has embraced our culture.. It's very easy to comment or find fault. Why don't you perform Barathanatyam and upload the video so that people can watch how well you perform.
