Some old footage I found from my first time wearing the LARP head cam at empire. part 2 RULES FOR EMPIRE FILMING HAVE NOW CHANGED NO ONE CAN FILM AT ANY EVENTS
I now entertain the idea of getting a medieval shirt and trousers, a straw hat, and trying to procure a larp-friendly wooden pitchfork. be the local farmer conscript pressed into the battle
I kinda feel bad for him. he probably had it all worked out, and when they got to the gates he was going to poor his heart out an propose... then his unit gets moved in the middle of it and he ends up asking by yelling It at her on the run and getting a "WHAT??" LOL poor guy. wonder what she said though.
GlassyBiscuit 4 Gaming Just like untrained levies, it's impossible to organize them like proper soldiers. If drills are done then those people will work together much more efficiently.
I would have put shieldmen at front, spearmen behind them. Push through the gate and form half circle formation. Then push and have infantry charge. Arrchers naturally in the back.
I must say the battle had a much... slower pace than I imagined it would? Didn’t expect anything like a real battle of course but also didn’t expect people would be all lined up and just sort of... looking at each other so much either.
As with so many situations theres a lot of periods of inactivity punctuated by brief spells of hectic action. Plus theres the hangover from our real world conditioning. Even though the fighting and the conflict is fake we're conditioned to not want to engage. Nobody wants to be the first in just in case the rest dont follow up even the NPC orcs who in theory have less inhibition as they aren't playing a character.
I’m not saying it’s realistic but thats how people fight when they’re going to smack each other with sticks, there’s a build up of people psyching themselves up, there’s brief carnage and one side breaks usually.
Dank Dan That's what it looks like, but Mr. Camera got hit way too many times to even live :P He should've been laying on the floor being healed for half the video.
Yeah I think this video gives a poor representation of how may hits you can take. When I go to Empire I am always very wary because it is actually quite easy to die.
To be honest, if you are properly driving frwd in your shield wall, you will split the enemy formation and it will be very apparent who won. It real life with armour its relatively hard to die, casualties were reasonably low, until a formation broke and then it was carnage.
Hey this looks like tonnes of fun and I'm just getting into larping but couldn't you have two flank commanders and an overall commander and push forward and the flanks to split they're forces and take them with overwhelming numbers.
Oh, I'm an American. I assume this is in Britan based purely on the speech but as for where? I just couldn't say. Well at 13 your couldn't just walk in I would assume they would need the permission of your guardians. Legal issues aside, yes you could do this kind of stuff even being 13. It's not dangerous and a good work out. I would suggest looking up LARP groups in your local area they usually meet up in parks or have some sort of online presence.
Its not far from the racetrack at Silverstone actually. So its outside London but not all that far. Check here for more information. www.profounddecisions.co.uk/empire;jsessionid=1p8seth895j021nxylj6bva4v7?0
Robert Sneddon Thanks! And one last question, what if your not fit? And do they give costumes and weapons or do you get your own ? Because I saw people with same weapons and costumes
Yeah that one was not the most exciting event. th-cam.com/video/_Bgg4Vrs-wQ/w-d-xo.html This is a high combat event I crewed. Let me know what you think MaxWa.
Going in with your blows too fast? How is anyone going to feel anything if you hit them in the steel with a light foam tap. If people are afraid of getting hit they shouldn't be playing a fighting character, or they should just get a helmet and they'll be fine.
It’s not just a safety tbing, obviously Steel helm dude is fine. In the larp community hitting really fast is sometimes known as drum sticking, it’s basically where you either start swinging incredibly and dangerously fast or just tapping your opponent. It’s generally considered bad practice to wale on a guy like that, it’s sort of like spamming in a video game, it’s more of a bad form thing in this case. Besjdes in empire there’s a rule where you can only really take a hit every two seconds so it’s not like there’s any reason to do it
I am form Czech republic, so my answer is maybe a little irrelevant, but here, we make our own weapons. We just buy a plastic sleeping pad, find a piece of wood in a local forest, give the wood a shape and soften it with pieces of the pad, then cover with a tape, colour it several times and then go and hit each other. It's that simple and my last axe cost me about three hundred CZK, that's probably similar to 12(??) USD. And EVA sleeping pad is much more durable then the latex sh#t used by companies.
As much as i appreciate being head cammed for this battle........... You had to be told off so many times that you had taken way more hits than any character should have to take before they go down. You were also warned about hitting to hard a few times. And again never going down on atleast two other occasions by the refs, Sorry "old bean" but you were playing a shallow representation of this game.
he is one of those people that think that they are the main characters of the world and that it revolves around them, ofc they shouldn't die like that. They are the main characters, they can get away with anything. Hence the cheating
6:08 lol "marry me" "what?" "I said marry me"
I heard that toooo XD oml!
The cringe in this video reached its zenith @ this point for me dawg
holy cow, I completely missed that. What a terrible time to propose!!
I now entertain the idea of getting a medieval shirt and trousers, a straw hat, and trying to procure a larp-friendly wooden pitchfork. be the local farmer conscript pressed into the battle
6:05 the proposal lol
so romantic when most of us are covered in blood retrieving arrows and trying to slaughter orks and his proposing to the love of his life. LOL
Orcs*
I kinda feel bad for him. he probably had it all worked out, and when they got to the gates he was going to poor his heart out an propose... then his unit gets moved in the middle of it and he ends up asking by yelling It at her on the run and getting a "WHAT??" LOL poor guy. wonder what she said though.
I'm pretty sure it was in character.
good call. even so. I'm sure his character didn't envision it that way either :)
6:08 you can hear a guy proposing in the heat of battle, respect through the roof
"RIght here, in the middle of the battlefield
the problem with larp is it can be hard to get people to work together and co-operate(this is not the case all the time)
Obviously. The majority would like to believe that they're the most important characters- especially the younger ones.
Rip n' Dip ya got that right, not to mention no ones life is truely in danger. that's why soldiers are trained and not just sent into battle.
GlassyBiscuit 4 Gaming Just like untrained levies, it's impossible to organize them like proper soldiers. If drills are done then those people will work together much more efficiently.
Hunter Findon indeed they really would, and I'd love to see that tho really
GlassyBiscuit 4 Gaming I'm not one for acting but fighting that's a different story
Peter Jackson you've done it again
Rekken 200 OK this comment made me laugh. Cheers. :)
cheers mate ;)
I'm impressed by the costumes.
Thanks for the link to newest video. Its great that you bother to record these, It is good stuff. All the best.
LOL, the orcs showed far more discipline.
same orcs are better
Well they are bred for war
Orcs are born to die in battle, that's why they are so effective. Humans love life, orcs love death.
@@petergriffin383 Just like our Vikings aye ?
I would have put shieldmen at front, spearmen behind them. Push through the gate and form half circle formation. Then push and have infantry charge. Arrchers naturally in the back.

Real warfare is long periods of inactivity punctuated by moments of madness.
Unless you're in 'dawn' of course where its just all madness.
I’m not saying it’s realistic but thats how people fight when they’re going to smack each other with sticks, there’s a build up of people psyching themselves up, there’s brief carnage and one side breaks usually.
all that was missing was someone jumping into the fray yelling LEERRROOYY JEEENKIINS 🤣
11:02 that guy is either highly dedicated to immersion or he's actually dead
That scream though 7:09.
I thought LARP was a dumb concept but that thumbnail is badass
This looks SO FRIGGIN AWESOMS
"This is no time for a man like you to have a neck wound. Sort it!"
Proper Dawn, right there!
it will be funny if someone said. "Its almost harvesting season."
"That's a nice head you have on your shoulders."
lol, "I will drink from your skull"
“My lord”
my only problem is no good guys die, it mainly orcs, there is not much of a balance. overall this looks like so much fun
Apparently there are some battles where a lot of players die
the dude probably put all his points in fortitude he can take a bit of a beating
To be honest, if you are properly driving frwd in your shield wall, you will split the enemy formation and it will be very apparent who won. It real life with armour its relatively hard to die, casualties were reasonably low, until a formation broke and then it was carnage.
You must have a pelaton of archers, that’s really cool.
This is so nerdy.. and I love it 😂
Looks like organised chaos to me...
Andy Nightingale yes but it’s very fun chaos
Not every battle in history works out like they do in the movies. This would be an accurate representation of some of the battles of that period.
I LOVE IT!!!!
0:16 you should just let the orcs storm in, not only it would be more epic, but more enjoyable.
I heard "BEGONE" at least 7 different times throughout this video.
That has to be crazy to keep up with the mages and who's got what on who
Hey this looks like tonnes of fun and I'm just getting into larping but couldn't you have two flank commanders and an overall commander and push forward and the flanks to split they're forces and take them with overwhelming numbers.
brilliant to see adults using their imagination.....epic
the Greek shield the guy is carrying in 2:17. And 5:34. The round one with the bronze look. Where could one procure it?
Check out irregular props. They were the ones who made those exact shields.
at what age do i become to old to do this? it looks like too much fun.
So long as your healthy and somewhat fit you can do this kind of thing until your six feet under
Robert Wynn Is this in London? And can I join? Fit and 13

So do they use real weapons? If so, how are they protected from facial hits and things of that nature in unarmored regions?
They're foam
Thank you. I now want to start LARPing hahaha
How does one tell when you are dead/incapacitated?
As an outsider to this community, I can totally understand why they don't let you film anymore. haha
People who larp are actually the coolest
This made me laugh
IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN IN lol
Bannerlord looks great
Just a lot of walking round really.
Yeah that one was not the most exciting event.
th-cam.com/video/_Bgg4Vrs-wQ/w-d-xo.html
This is a high combat event I crewed. Let me know what you think MaxWa.
Was literally just watching that!
MaxWa I was broken after that event. still a bit of walking and the like but you get to see me get hit by a giant orc with a battering ram...
good action
where are you battling??
Scottish LARPer here and most larps I go to I'm a highlander cuz well I hope you can guess
where is this and dose it still take place
Jason Heiser indeed it does. 4 times a year near Silverstone in the UK. Full details on www.profounddecisions.co.uk
10:43 what does the (referee) actually say? something something too fast?
Oswald Lorenz he said I was attacking too fast.... Grumble grumble
I can't take them seriously with elf ears and horns... Lol
Going in with your blows too fast? How is anyone going to feel anything if you hit them in the steel with a light foam tap. If people are afraid of getting hit they shouldn't be playing a fighting character, or they should just get a helmet and they'll be fine.

Where do you buy your weapons and armour from?
Ah ok cheers man love your larp videos!
I am from Australia so its a bit pricey on the websites
Irregular props is his business name matey ^^
www.wyrmwick.com/ another great place for low cost armor :)
I am form Czech republic, so my answer is maybe a little irrelevant, but here, we make our own weapons. I really do feel sorry for those orcs everyone is bullying them with sticks
why am i watching this
Orcs are always discipline and organized. Reason they always win
1:32 Brienne of Tarth with horns????
6:07 this boi want to get married
Lots of bossy people running around apparently lol
this is in england right? the costume standard looks pretty low...
Kael 90
they look fine to me
Kael 90 its better than America
Far to fast his blows were fine - have rhese refs watched longsword fighting! With real weapons
When everyone thinks they're the hero😂🤣🤣🤣
someone is all about them counter charges
*do they accept 10 year olds with bow and arrows*
Minimum age for combat in big battles is 14 but there are things that younger children can do.
Larp for lige
amazing game, but how to know one man dead, is there any rule
DT FoodAnhOutdoor There are different systems. Some use experience and live/armor points. Other Systems say just act like this was real.
hahaha this is funny hahah
When you get in charging speed "I killed all them not just the men the women the child all of them,
That girls command...
What has the world come too?
Do these guys ever stop and wonder "What am I doing with my life?"'
I mean, working 8 hrs a day in the office is the dream life right?
Call of duty: crusaders of the north
Anyone else catch 6:10?

THIS IS ETHAN! ETHAN SLAMBERRY

He's a fucking power gamer who plainly is shit at fighting and role-playing anything else but a whining cretin.
I’m too young for larp so imma be an orc at renn fest 😂
Well this is a world I never knew existed wtf hahaaa
Stop pushing 😆.
spinning something so annoying
