Beautifully written and narrated video. This makes me so very sad. I practically grew up in the local malls. Cranberry, Shenango, Clearview, the old Butler mall. My childhood is dying quickly. I doubt we will save the malls. But we can save their memory and their history.
An excellent review of another mall that is on its way out. Retail archaeology is a huge topic and many of us who grew up in the 70s and 80s have fond memories of these spaces that were the place to be when we were teenagers. I worked for a mall Sears in the early 90s and those years possessed some of the best memories of my life. When we were young, before in home gaming systems and Amazon the local mall was often the place to be. I really appreciate the maker of this video and this channel for sharing this with us.
I think it's a sign of the dying off of the American family and standard of living for the bottom 80% especially since non college educated men have suffered a 70% reduction in real earnings since 1980
