Im wondering why the cage affected Sonic so much. It seems to have taken a serious mental toll on him. Does his speed directly affect his mentality? Have any other issues gone anywhere with this?

I think it might be that he always runs and when he got stuck and couldnt move he just panic

That was still wrong of Knuckles to betray the team like that ! You are not totally redeemed, you should have spent a couple of nights in a prison cell for this.

Especially for what he did to Sonic. If you noticed, it seems to have had a serious mental effect on him. Sonic is a character that is almost never not moving. Not only does he move fast, his brain moves fast too. The lack of physical movement made his brain move too fast for his body to keep up, driving him crazy. Knuckles might have exposed a weakness that Eggman or someone else could use against Sonic.
