I’ll never understand why Kodak makes us lick their film as opposed to adding tape like Fuji But I guess it helps to pretend it’s a “delicious snack” lol
Just went for a bike ride and listened to music whilst the sun was setting (don’t worry I live in the middle of the countryside, it’s safe), and now I have your video to enjoy. A perfect evening.
Willem you inspired me to get into film photography and it’s insane to see you shoot in a location I’ve recently visited. You’ve captured the beauty in a place most people would consider bland. You’re so talented and funny!
I really enjoy these kind of videos of you just shooting stuff and showing the process behind. I´d love to see a video in the future where you show exactly how you plan these trips (find locations and stuff)
Glad you explored this. As a Jersey kid I've always wanted to go up to this power plant. Also stop at power plants, dams, fisheries, etc. while biking around the nation because they are cool
Next time go to Marblehead and check out the lighthouse. Keep videos coming. They make my day since my wife’s health is fragile and all helps. You are appreciated. Thanks
Hi Willem, just wanted to let you know how much I've been enjoying your content. Relatively new to photography and I've learnt so much not just in a technical aspect but your channel really reinforces the idea of enjoying the process of making photos. Take care mate, all the best to you and your family. Big love from Australia
If you’re ever back in Ohio, I’d love to hang! I got into film 2 years ago. And still have lots to learn. But you can say I’m obsessed. It’s so much fun. I have 4 film cameras atm and I’m growing my collection.
Willem, those are cooling towers, not smoke stacks. They emit water vapor, not smoke. Nuclear power is very clean. Nice video. I've gone through your whole set a couple of times.
For those of you shooting with ND Filters. You can devide the ND number by 3 to get the stops. So ND 3 is 1 stop darker, ND 6 is 2 stops darker and so on...
your editing style looks like it’s changed as you’ve started RA4 printing so your photos seem to have that warm glow you get when you preflash paper in a colour darkroom, i like it
Love the laid back feel, Will. Also feeling the comment on the labs. I'm hoping my local one survives this. Never been a fan of scanning my own film. And everyone there is incredibly nice.
Ive seen tons of labs opening up, we have yet to have one close buy 5 opened within 200 miles of me. My local lab is still operating at full capacity even during the pandemic. I can drop off film and pick it up.
We are city here in Akron - though a a small one compared to NYC! I’ve taken many shots up around the lake and power plant. Cool to see you out my way!
You can do a couple of (spot)meterings while you hold the ND filter in front of your light meter. If you know how much light it takes you can easily compensate for it. I do the same when I use colour filters with black and white film. My orange filter takes to stops. When I shoot HP5+ I usually meter for iso 200 and develop for 800
Loved how the photos came out Willem! Also dig that you were at a place where I live by and have shot too! The city that you where at is name Perry not Erie but close enough 😅
There’s also a nuclear power plant in Forked River, NJ. You can definitely get a lot of nature type shots in that area too since it’s near the Pine Barons.
your videos inspire me so much to do what i love, being film photography. could you make a video mentioning the difference in pictures when you adjust the shutter speed? thank you so much
Erie is in PA - I’m guessing you were in Perry - that would be the closest nuclear plant to Akron. There is a great beach with a unique lighthouse called Mentor Headlands you might like to shoot next time you are out this way. The plant is way off in the background from there. (Just being pedantic here but those are steam towers - there isn’t any smoke from nuclear). ☢️
Willem, those "golden things" are called Phragmites and they are actually an invasive species that really hurts the ecological health of wetlands + coasts in the Great Lakes region. They do make for great photos though!! See them everywhere here in Michigan.
The golden plants are called Phragmites! They are terribly invasive to the Great Lakes region, and were actually planted for aesthetics before they were recognized as an aggressive reed species. Love the videos!
This is a nice video. Photography has been my favorite hobby for over forty years. I still like to shoot for a medium size film, it’s rewarding and nice. I develop the films myself in a jar, it’s also nice. I have subscribed to this channel also when I like these videos.
I want someone to look at me the way willem looks at power plants
underrated comment
Hey Willem! I really enjoyed the more personal, ‘chiller’ vibe in this video. Great job
I am a big fan of the solo video internal voice out loud. "uh oh thorns" more of this haha
this is so true!
1:46 "Do I need to shoot that?" - the most essential question 😆
Police be like...
@@sithlols1665 hol up
*licks film* willem: mmmm delicious snack
I'm personally a big fan of these style of videos. It's super sick seeing how you go about exploring and analyzing each spot!
02:06 They are called *Reeds*
Your video always inspires me. All the photos, videos and music are beautiful. thanks.
I grew up 30 mins away from that plant! You captured northern Ohio nicely :-)
I’ll never understand why Kodak makes us lick their film as opposed to adding tape like Fuji
But I guess it helps to pretend it’s a “delicious snack” lol
I’ve never understood that either
It's the closest us film photographers get to nutrition
Tom Divasion this is true
Because the self stick labels often don’t. Or get gummy.
if you won't lick em, you won't get any of the good shots
Just went for a bike ride and listened to music whilst the sun was setting (don’t worry I live in the middle of the countryside, it’s safe), and now I have your video to enjoy. A perfect evening.
sounds perfect
I have a cottage just north of Erie country. People talk trash about Ohio, but some spots are
gorgeous!
Man that first frame, real nice. Loving the abstracted shapes of the water, the hill, the power line. Fire stuff
Oh my! Every shots are so wallpaper worthy! The first one got me so chill and relaxed by the grass and the sea! Nice video Willem!
That power plant photo was looking like a painting, the colours were amazing too, loved the golden look
the second one, just to be clearer
Willem you inspired me to get into film photography and it’s insane to see you shoot in a location I’ve recently visited. You’ve captured the beauty in a place most people would consider bland. You’re so talented and funny!
I love how much movement you managed to convey in the shots of the golden colored plants.
i'm from akron and just found the channel. glad to see Ohio getting some love
I really enjoy these kind of videos of you just shooting stuff and showing the process behind. I´d love to see a video in the future where you show exactly how you plan these trips (find locations and stuff)
This episode‘s „peace“ at the end was really like I could feel it. Thanks for that!
this guy looks like he was the coolest guy in school.
destroyer. you're the coolest guy in school
Was he home schooled?
@@FramesPerSecond shots fired ;)
@@wepranaga hahaha, lmao.
@@FramesPerSecond of course!
This was great, dude. Those images at the end were my favs. 👌
I always like the videos where you film yourself on a photo walk. My favorite video is the Canon A-1 review for that reason.
O M G FIRST!
You actually were first...
CONSPIRACCCYYY!!!
holy shit i get it now
Loved seeing you shot the same subject but experiment with different approaches to it. 💙
Can you upload more during quarantine Willem? Your videos are very calming and I really look forward to them. I'm sure many others agree
Missed these solo photo walks! Thanks for sharing!
Love these vlog shoots: it gives me so much inspiration, especialy since im pretty new o film photography. So thank you so much Willem!
Maybe quaratine is getting to me but I spit my coffee out laughing at the causal "uh oh, thorns,"
Love this vlog Willem! The power plant (6:59) reminds me of the setting of DARK (Netflix)!
Glad you explored this. As a Jersey kid I've always wanted to go up to this power plant. Also stop at power plants, dams, fisheries, etc. while biking around the nation because they are cool
Some beautiful shots here, very inspiring. Love the vintage look, I am trying to work on my composure for a lot of my videos around London.
Next time go to Marblehead and check out the lighthouse. Keep videos coming. They make my day since my wife’s health is fragile and all helps.
You are appreciated. Thanks
I wish I had some power plants like this near me! These are gorgeous images.
Appreciate all the content during this time, keeps us all busy!!

looool those plants make willem look like he's 4 feet tall

Oh my. those were amazing shots. especially when you used the nd filter for the tree int he background
I love this videos so much, I still wait to sunday to watch them right after breakfast. I miss the photo talks tho.
Great video and photography, thanks for sharing Willem
Sniping some serious nectar here!
Put the ND filter in front of your light meter and then you will be able to tell how many stops it is.
Willem, those are cooling towers, not smoke stacks. They emit water vapor, not smoke. Nuclear power is very clean. Nice video. I've gone through your whole set a couple of times.
You’re right! I was aware that it was just water vapor I don’t know why I said smoke stacks ahah
On another note, because of your channel, I’ve just placed a BH order for about five pounds of Portra.

Dope video as usual 🙌🏿
You continue to inspire me, without fail.
I love that you just enjoy it all.
Your vibe just makes me so happy
loved your in-between-comments! very chill and personal video 🌞
The whole vibe of the video was ideal and supper chill

America is really beautiful you have talent for finding these places
Try coming up to Michigan and shooting some film along Lake Michigan sometime. Plenty of beautiful beaches and lighthouses out that way!
1:20 is such a nice shot! great composition :)
You nailed the last 2 shots! Great work
Erie is my hometown, thank you for this!
Interesting subject matter for a video going up on Earth day. I love it!
I love this sort of video. I just makes me happy.
thanks a lot for uploading this,it helped me remember how many times i've passed by such scenes and not make the best of it!

So good. I love the shot with the reeds on the lakeshore!
That’s the Perry Nuclear Plant! I was just out there shooting this weekend.
We are city here in Akron - though a a small one compared to NYC! I’ve taken many shots up around the lake and power plant. Cool to see you out my way!

these were really neat photos willem. i enjoyed this video a lot
Cuídate mucho Willem!
Hello Willem! I like your work more and more!
What is the best time to take photos?
Depends on what you're going for! Golden hour in the morning or evening gives a nice golden glow, around noon gives a brighter and flatter look, etc.
Love seeing your vlog style videos of you going out and shooting work at different locations 👏
This is exactly what I needed to see. I’m so excited to get back shooting again
I really love the personal feeling in this video ❤️
Willem, you just make me smile. Keep 'em comin'.
Loved how the photos came out Willem! Also dig that you were at a place where I live by and have shot too! The city that you where at is name Perry not Erie but close enough 😅
This was very enjoyable & relaxing to watch :) Great shots.
Love the picture with the gold thingies. Great video!
This video was a great change of pace willem, great video and great images

I really love your pictures 💗
how do you get those amazing beautiful golden tones with the purplish-red shadows?

That's a nice area. Ashtubula, Mentor, Geneva on the lake... All good laid back beach towns.
I got some photos from the lab today too, and it was more exciting than usual considering out situation lol

you gotta check out the power plant on the Ohio river between Parkersburg, WV and Marietta, OH
Great Video - Nice to see something recorded outdoors before everything closed
Love your content, Willem! Greetings from Philippines!

never thought I see the day our guy Willem would be pulling up in the dirty 3-30. what a time to be alive.
