Hiigara is ancient. It was in the possession of Kushans, then Taiidan defeated them in war and sent them to Exile to Kharak. Kushan then returned to Hiigara, which was ancient, because their exile lasted few thousand years

Yes, after 4000 years of exile. The Kushan have returned to the world of their ancestors. Only 550,000 Kushan colonists mostly young people survived the Kharakian genocide.

The original Hiigarans are the Kushani and the Kadesh Nebula guys. When they initially lived on Hiigara, they found the second hyperspace core and basically terrorized the Taiidan with it. The Taiidan eventually captured them all and sent them out on the prison ships. The Hiigarans were able to hide the core on the Angel moon (Homeworld 2) and then picked it up with the prison ship before they left. The Guidestone is also a piece of the Angel Moon.

I never had any problems on this map, really. Taiidan MS may be wider, but Kushan MS is much taller, so i think it's really more or less the same cross-section.

A problem i had with the Taiidan was that when I got to the Diamond Shoals map, the taiidan mothership is wider than the Kushan mothership, so more Asteroids can hit the Mothership. Thus, I died when the attack bombers and stuff couldn't blow up enough asteroids, and the mothership got killed. I think that map is to encourage the player to select the Kushan, since it is canon.

Noted, but come on, you should still try your best to intercept all the asteroids.

I actually found that mission way way easier with the Taiidan ships. Because your fleet hyperspaces in a horizontal formation and the Taiidan mothership is wider it's easier to shelter the carrier and non-combat ships behind it, and if you keep some support frigates behind it and on healing orders the mothership can easily tank one or two asteroids that make it through.
The bananaship is much narrower so you need to stack the non-combat ships vertically behind it for the same protection, and because Homeworld 1's movement controls are very janky that basically turns into trial and error guesswork to get them all in the right spot.

I always thought it was odd that the Taiidan were considered the advanced ones, while the Kushan were the boot strappers. The Kushan ships always looked so well organized and built while the Taiidan always looked like THEY were boot-strapped together.

Actually its Samuel Barber's Angus Dei, the choral arrangement to Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings...
    Just so you know.

that's not entirely true. the Hiigaran flagship carrying the core was disabled by the Bentusi, but the ship hyperjumped away, crashing straight into the Angel Moon.

Angus Dei by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
and is preformed by the Vienna Boys Choir. (Requiem In D Minor)

why dose nobody ever play the taiidan version?

    • @michaelandreipalon359

      Canonical preferences, I guess.
Thankfully, someone named Macavity116 is doing an ongoing run of this as of December 2022.

Still a shame the Remastered take didn't do the Taiidan take also.
(Oh, dear, how are you gonna distinguish between your ships and the enemy's?)

Does anybody notice a glitch here in voice. When she says construction complete, the way she spoke word construction was constr, construction complete. She almost said that word twice. I played these game recently with Taiidan and I listen carefully and she spoke normally as it should be. It must be a bug in upload or in a program which YessMasster used for extracting this game clip.

It's called Agnus Dei. It's literally a choral version of Adagio for Strings which was used in Platoon.
