As a welsh fan one of my favourite memories. Also the class of the Irish after the game wishing wales good luck in the semi. What else do you expect from the greatest centre ever mr o driscoll
@@rhyswilliams4893 he won plenty at club level Heineken cups an Celtic leagues and grand slam and triple crowns. Gareth Edwards never won a world cup either
As an Irishman I will always remember this WC as being imho Irelands best chance at reaching a WC final and perhaps winning it, but I can only give credit to an inspired Welsh performance who thoroughly deserved this win. Thing is, the French were a beatable side for a semifinals without a head coach having revolted against Lievremont and NZ proved to really struggle in the WC final without Dan Carter, seemingly unable to replace him with a player that could even kick a few penalties so... ya, about as good as it gets for what was a really strong Irish team that was fresh, injury-free, confidant and buzzing with positivity after a dominant win of their pool stages in which they deservedly beat Australia. The Irish camp was happy, I think Leinster and Munster player had put aside any old grudges, they played great in the pool stages as mentioned and Irish sides had generally performed well against Welsh sides at club and international levels so we dared believe that this was the year when Irish rugby would go a bit further than any Irish side had gone before at a WC, but like I said, grats to Wales, they really deserved it and can themselves be kicking themselves at not beating France and having a great chance at winning the WC. Such is sport.
@@cynanyt1417 Not in New Zealand they haven't. Only three matches won by Wales and they were all in Wales. Last one wasn't since 1953 as well so it's nothing to brag about.
Possibly the best team that Wales has ever put on the field. So many top class performances from 1 to 15. Priestland's best game for Wales ever imo.. JD ad JR made Od look quite flat.
Looking back, it's so sad that O'Callaghan played on after that contact with Roberts in the opening minutes. Now he'd be immediately removed for a HIA, he was messed up.
That take by Roberts just set the tone for that whole game. Then Halfpenny winning the box kick at the start of the second half. Maybe Wales wanted it that bit more that day. They Looked fitter, and Ireland looked a little disorganised or unsure defensively in the second half.
What I wouldn’t give for a roberts Davies centre partnership again .. this was another game that wales yet again by the so called rugby pundits were not given much of a chance to win. Being written off Is just how wales likes it👍
Your quite right ireland had more territory and possession but that welsh defence was very good in that world cup conceded very few tries. Even when France beat them in the semis they were tryless

Ireland are massive favourites but as a welsh fan i steal fuel we can Nick this especially due to the Warren garland + millennium stadium factors

After watching game today Ireland showing they are world no. 1 . Too good today we'll played
Gutted as Irish fan that day but Wales too good probably have went all the way if not for red in the semi
It's a genuine shame o driscoll doesn't have much to show from his incredible tenure. He deserved so much more.

@@maureenthomas9758 tbf the World cup didn't exist when Gareth Edwards played.
Was in the stand that day. Vastly outnumbered by Irish fans, it was a good day to be in red, even as a Kiwi with a Welsh wife.

This Welsh team was incredible. If only Warburton wasn't red carded in the semi-final.
Yeah I'm sure they would have beaten New Zealand in New Zealand for the first time ever lol.

Christ that Davies try
Ireland are the most consistent team in the history of the World Cup - always knocked out in the quarters.
GG Ireland. Regards from Poland
Still players playing for wales now from this team.
J Davies run through 5 players Wow!
now the roles have changed now wales are the really old team now and ireland is the more youthful side bar sexton of course.
Wales only have Biggar, North, Falatau, Lydiate and halfpenny the rest are pretty youthful so unfortunately that isn’t the case anymore 😉
@LERJ_Gaming We have some good new talent, but it will be a while before the squad is strong enough to be winning six nations titles
foxy a hard man to get down
Here is leigh halfpenny for his long kick between the posts from long distance.
Priestland always got Wales on the front foot. Great player.
Ireland winning knock out games at a world cup 😂.
They thought this game would be easy after beating Australia in the pool stages
Despite Craig Joubert's best efforts, Wales win the match.
That is definitely a try for shane williams against ireland.
Brillant some scarlets players
there seemed to be a lot of Irish lads playing in the team back then ?

Cant stomach looking at Joubert considering what he did to Scotland in 2015
Aus were the better side
Given what he did to France in final at RWC 2011 I'd say 2015 pales into insignificance!!
The Irish defence was pretty shite
Craig joubert worst referee of all time
Painful to watch
Awful editing - Showed Wales as being the totally dominant side, which they weren’t.
Irish defence fkn sucked, the entire reason they lost. Have a cry, at least ireland beat Wales in 6N
