I personally don't call the story itself as a horror story but more of a tragedy. Something tragic happened and you the main character need to decide on how to deal with it, hell if you even want to remember what even happen in the first place

It is very spoiler heavy though, so if you have any intent of playing it, I recommend you avoid looking things up about it until you're finished, or only ask questions in the Reddit if you need help while playing it. If there is anyone out there thinking about picking this game up, do it ASAP. It's best to go in as blind as possible. Omori's storytelling is an absolute delight and is something that should be experienced for yourself. Easily one of my favorite games of all time!

when i bought the game, i was so excited and invested into it i completely forgot it was horror. "oh so cute and fun!! i love aubrey." and then i got the STAB OPTION. i was really brought back to reality. i stayed aware the rest of the game... jesus christ man
I mean, if they didn’t have to redo the entire game because of the engine switch we probably would have gotten it sooner, but having it come out at the end of 2020 when most people are dealing with problems of their own just makes the game that little bit more special

This game reminds me a lot more off of Doll Eye by TWISTED-DOCTOR which is an interactive Roleplaying Game based upon the Comics of RE-NIGHTMARE formerly worked on by the same creator but in a different name "Sleepykinq".
Omori somehow blended humor and comedy for me. On the one hand you have this little air of quirk throughout parts of the game, mixed with an air of dread that just pops up time to time, bouncing your emotions all over the place. There are real world and dream world segments all over the game and the real world segments have their own atmosphere that's hard to describe, but it's entirely separate from the dream world like it's a whole different game thing. It's honestly brilliant.

I knew that it was a psychological horror game when I went in, but even then there were certain aspects that ended up bludgeoning me over the head so hard that the already rough patch of life that I already found myself in only worsened as a result of experiencing this game. I highly reccommend this. This game gave me tons of emotions and will be with me in my mind for the rest of my life! Heck, it can be one of the best games I ever played even! And I played a lot of great games (yeah, gems made with rpg maker included). The only think I should say - if you are interested then PLAY IT NOW! The more you know about it the worse experience you get! Like, really, stop reading comments right now and buy the game already, believe me, its one of the best way you can spend your money! You will get awesome game with 30+ hours worth of content (manageble withing 20 hours, but took me 37 since I wanted to 100% it).
This is how horror is done right, at some parts i felt things i've never felt playing resident evil, alien isolation etc. This is early Silent Hill level of horror, and at other parts it's wholesome as shit, 10/10

i highly recommend this game! i haven’t stopped thinking about this game since i played it, and it’s truly a masterpiece. also, it does have a lot of triggering content, but on the omori discord (and online, i’m sure) *there is a modified version that censors all of the triggering things!* if you get triggered easily but want to play, you can try out that version! ^^

It's not your typical horror game, so I would say it's save to play. It's more unnerving than scary, most of the time you forget that it's a horror game (until the leading up to the climax that is). In my experience I cried and laughed more, than I was being scared.
Honestly I just wish I could experience this game the first time around again. It was just amazingly well made, and I wish I had explored more than I did.
This sounds very similar to a book I've read called poet Anderson it was about a boy who was one way in the waking world but then became a different person when he went to sleep so he was living 2 different lives and at one point the world's started mixing together in a way I highly recommend checking it out
Something i also love the horror in this game is how... Mondaine it looks on the surface. Yeah the kid is scared to go down the staire at night everyone kinda is, nothing wrong or weird about staires right?
I played this game 2 years ago when I was 12 and was not terrified except of the jumpscares. Like I related with sunny loads and found the game very interesting. Still love it and cried a lot when I got the endings
There's a reason Omori doesn't smile together with the others, even when he was alright he wasn't the type who liked to smile even for photographs. That does add to the unsettling tho, i guess

This sounds very similar to a book I've read called poet Anderson it was about a boy who was one way in the waking world but then became a different person when he went to sleep so he was living 2 different lives and at one point the world's started mixing together in a way I highly recommend checking it out

Something i also love the horror in this game is how... Mondaine it looks on the surface. Yeah the kid is scared to go down the staire at night everyone kinda is, nothing wrong or weird about staires right?

I played this game 2 years ago when I was 12 and was not terrified except of the jumpscares. Like I related with sunny loads and found the game very interesting. Still love it and cried a lot when I got the endings
the games not frightening scary, its moreso just upsetting and disturbing at points

There's a reason Omori doesn't smile together with the others, even when he was alright he wasn't the type who liked to smile even for photographs. That does add to the unsettling tho, i guess
