I was originally going to leave it out because I usually don't do sound effects, but I felt like it was just such a big part of the atmosphere that I had to do it. I ended up recording breath sounds through my euphonium and layering them on top of each other and it came out better than I expected!
I remember when I first played ff6. Coincidentally it was also my first final fantasy game. I didn't know what to expect or have a clue how much it would mean to me. This specific song is what really drew me into the game. It had such a mysterious yet nostalgic quality to it... Damn time flies. Thank you very much, I've looked forward to something like this.
Pretty sure Uematsu was influenced by that show and I read somewhere the programmers in particular talked about the show nonstop. Lots of FFVII tracks influenced by the show--Turks, Aeris, Fort Condor, submarine theme, various dream sequences... usually anything minor key and moodier
When the snapping begins, an Imperial Greaser gang comes out, they're snapping, they whip out their switchblades it's all over, or so you thought You look behind you and notice another greaser gang from behind you, also snapping, they're moogles
Thanks! I'm a bit limited on some of the songs based on what instruments I have access too (a lot of the soundtrack makes heavy use of timpani!), but eventually I'll get to them all :)
I don't know of a track from any RPG that pulled me into its game quite like this one. It's a bit of magic even for the generally high quality of SNES RPG soundtracks. I like what you did with the sigh. It sounds less like breathing and more like the machinery in Narshe doing its work.
So so good! Captures the feeling of being in the mines for the first time all those years ago! Thank you for your commitment to creating pieces so close to the originals!
This is such a hard track to reproduce. This was going to be the first track I tackled. Now that I found this, I'd much rather just offer to remaster these. Your tracks are PERFECT replacements for originals.
I am musician on tour, playing keys and doing horn section arrangements… and man, Nobuo Uematsu and his entire FF discog is one of my primary influences and has been since I was 6 years old. Since finding these, I constantly find myself popping in ear buds and listening to your arrangements and performances of these tunes between cities. Amazing to watch the country go by out the window to these. You absolutely nail it to the finest point in these arrangements. Thank you!!
That's what I call skills, I hope someday you decide to make a cover of "Jhonny C. Bad" or better yet "Zozo's theme" I suscribed not by chance but because at the end of the video I was speechless. Peace!
Great choice! This is one of those songs that kind of gets overlooked with all the other amazing music in the soundtrack (by me at least) but it really is a fantastic song. And as usual you just made it better. :)
I think you may hold the record for the youtube channel with the best ratio of likes to dislikes. I haven't seen even one dislike in any of your songs!! Well deserved, you are utterly amazing.
Hello, new subscriber here~ I really love your FF music cover! It's really like a remastered version of the original OST! Keep your good work sir! I'll always wait for your new FF music cover!
I have never been able to get farther than the first Kefka boss in this game. As a fake FFVI fan, I approve of this cover of the area I've heard more than any other.
Superb rendition, congrats! Can't wait to see more of your future works. By the way, it would be nice if, by any chances you could do more Terranigma covers, cheers!
That’s awesome! I’m not a fan of plastic mouthpieces/horns though, they remind me of this one kid from All state band that would never shut the hell up.
This is excellent, great job! My only reservation is the trumpet. There's just something that feels/sounds off about it. It's very close, just something about the sound is unrefined (or not refined enough). Don't be discouraged though, this is already fantastic, hope to see (hear) more.
@@Kukulkan8 It could be that but it could also be that it needs to trill at the end of the notes. I think that's what may be making it sound off slightly.
@@Kukulkan8 I agree, the OST sounds more like an oboe. And here the trumpet's intonation is a bit wobbly, perhaps on purpose. But for me it didn't blend as well as everything else. A consistent vibrato on the long notes might have helped. But this cover is wonderful, one of my favourites of his.
This is perfect. The feel of the original is completely kept intact.
This song was cool when I was young but 20 years later I really appreciate how incredible a piece this was. Nobuo, you genius.
It's like I'm revisiting FF6 through your covers :) Brings back memories.
Always loved how Uematsu made that sigh into this track on a SNES. Simply amazing!
I was originally going to leave it out because I usually don't do sound effects, but I felt like it was just such a big part of the atmosphere that I had to do it. I ended up recording breath sounds through my euphonium and layering them on top of each other and it came out better than I expected!
@@OrchestralFantasy Awesome creativity!
Orchestral Fantasy good call. it’s part of it.
I was waiting for it. I always thought it represented blowing on your hands because you're cold as hell in the mines.
Agree it's an indispensable part of the atmosphere. I've always heard it as an off-gassing of steam-powered machines.
I remember when I first played ff6. Coincidentally it was also my first final fantasy game. I didn't know what to expect or have a clue how much it would mean to me. this is a beautiful description of what the song sounds and feels like
That’s my story too :)
Yeah. Me too. If someone can make a kid feel the classy of music that's mean that guy is so genius.
Ha. Me too. I remember it was my older cousin who got it, I was just glued at it while he was playing.
Again. You produce sounds that match the integrity of the original while also making slight additions. This is so spot on.
I never noticed how much this song would fit in during an episode of Twin Peaks before.
@@suburbanindie I have thought for ages that the Turks theme sounded Lynchian. Would you happen to have a link to that interview?
Twin Peaks was huge in Japan as I understand it
When the snapping begins, an Imperial Greaser gang comes out, they're snapping, they whip out their switchblades
it's all over, or so you thought
You look behind you and notice another greaser gang from behind you, also snapping, they're moogles
If I wasn’t looking at the video I would think that I left my SNES on while parked in narshe. So cool
Totally awesome. One of my favorite tracks from this game. You performed it flawlessly. Would kill for a soundtrack of your FF6 songs!
Thanks! I'm a bit limited on some of the songs based on what instruments I have access too (a lot of the soundtrack makes heavy use of timpani!), but eventually I'll get to them all :)

Someday, you're gonna end up taking on the huge project of stitching together the whole FF6 ending medley! 😃😆😉🙂
Holy violin, Batman, that's some good jazz/vibes right there. Suspense inducing, with a flavor of mystery and noir, perfect.
So so good! Captures the feeling of being in the mines for the first time all those years ago! Thank you for your commitment to creating pieces so close to the originals!

Holy hell, another stellar cover. The piano part sent chills up my spine.
Putting the snaps on the offbeat works so well, I thought that was the original rhythm until I listened to the OST again.
Wow, just 2 seconds in and you can immediately tell.
Nice work!
Anyone ever notice how brilliantly Nobuo Uematsu utilizes the locrian mode for the first section???
I am musician on tour, playing keys and doing horn section arrangements… and man, Nobuo Uematsu and his entire FF discog is one of my primary influences and has been since I was 6 years old. This makes me want to drink a sidecar by myself in a dark lonely jazz hole
I love the jazzy style of this theme... You made it sound great, as always!
This is the song I have set to my clock radio to wake up to. Ever since I was a kid, this always felt like a "sleepy, before the sun rises" type song.
God I love the Locrian Scale. Great job!
When that piano hits the first time. The nostalgic chills.
There is something mysterious about this song... I love it!
One of the best, if not the best, arrangement of this piece I've ever heard!
My favourite of all the FF6 tracks. Done masterfully.
i love mines of narshe, it feels so 90s jrpg
You capture the magic of this number very well! You've made this Final Fantasy fanboy very happy tonight!
That piano?
Love it.
That trumpet?
Stanky.
The quality of this cover is mind-blowing.
That little piano noodle at 0:52 would be a perfect secret-door entrance code.
Brings back memories of when I was 10. Great job!
This is the first video of yours I have encountered. My subscription; take it.
That's what I call skills, I hope someday you decide to make a cover of "Jhonny C. Bad" or better yet "Zozo's theme"
I suscribed not by chance but because at the end of the video I was speechless.

masterpiece soundtrack
This is really good, wow! I like how you made it sound like the original, but with a totally reimagined orchestrated/jazz approach! 🙂
few channels I hit "thumbs up" button before play button
I could listen to this for days...
This has a jazz noir feel to it, love it.

You did it again, Andréw, you keep surprising me with every cover. A big hug from El Salvador
the subtlety and nuance is amazing!
Oooo he's dancing and playing. Magnificent.
Hard to believe such a complex song can receive a cover like this! Well done.
Even the most obscure tracks are so entertaining
Wait wait... a black brass horn? I’m so impressed!
Black brass would be pretty sweet, but this one's actually made of plastic. I do like the visual appeal of it!
I love the work you're doing with Final Fantasy VI tracks, hope you'll be doing more :)
To me this is the most iconic song from FF6, great job!
Mines of Narshe, more like Mines of Noir- the instrumentation really reminds me of a noir film...
Hello, new subscriber here~ I really love your FF music cover! It's really like a remastered version of the original OST! Keep your good work sir! I'll always wait for your new FF music cover!
Absolutely fantastic. Brings this amazing piece to life.
Now I gotta rerun FF VI. Amazing work.
Nostalgically Heart Warming!
So smooth...
This is truly amazing! The number of instruments you have mastered....!
Damn you're so talented. That was incredible. I absolutely love this song. What a way to kick off a game
I have never been able to get farther than the first Kefka boss in this game. As a fake FFVI fan, I approve of this cover of the area I've heard more than any other.
The rendition on this is perfect, wow.
Dude, awesome. Thank you
As always... Wow
More FF6. Yeahh!!! 😍😍😍. Great job!
Had to come back to this video after having listened to your cover of the FFVI Opening.
A personal favorite of mine
amazing choice and amazing cover. I love the piano part
This jazzy trumpet rocks. Great cover!!

Another great FF cover! :D
One of all time favorites !!!!
Instant like and subscribe. Wow.🙌
You DO all instrumentals!! HOW NICE!!
Wow! Thanks Andrew! This is one of my favourite FFVI (FF III U.S.) Theme! Amazing! Excellent performance! ^.^
Superb rendition, congrats! Can't wait to see more of your future works. By the way, it would be nice if, by any chances you could do more Terranigma covers, cheers!
Fear not, I've got more Terranigma in the works!
Always liked this track! Great to see you cover it :)
Fantastic!
Smooth like butter~
Holy crap! This is good!

I get you. What you mean to say it sounds similar but off. Thats cause the original instrument for that part shouldve been an oboe
@@Kukulkan8 It could be that but it could also be that it needs to trill at the end of the notes. I think that's what may be making it sound off slightly.

amazing work. Gotta step back and really appreciate the absurd attention to detail here
LOVE this cover. It's just so dead on.
PLEASE cover the Warcraft 2 human and orc campaigns!
I can't get enough of this, it's so good!
I love your work!
I never played the game but this sounds amazing! Respect!
Play it!
