Only suggestion. Crimp connectors would be the best bet. You can even get them with heat shrink on the ends of them for a really tight and clean connection. Great job though!
This is fantastic info! I assume from the brown interior this is a 1794 with JBL. I have a 19 Platinum with the same setup so I’m assuming my install would be identical. There is nothing wrong with the amp in these trucks, it’s the signal from the head unit. I had an 07 with JBL and replaced the head unit with a $200 Pioneer basic BT system. Completely transformed the system. So much more power than stock I eventually blew the factory speakers, but speaker replacement is easy. I was holding off on upgrading due to the install cost. Time to start shopping!
Really nicely done. It's a jungle in there! I did a head+amp+sub+speakers in my Wrangler, but for the truck, I'm slightly intimated. At the end of the day, it's just such a shame that Toyota cheaped out on this. I also have the 1794, and it's just crazy how much more advanced, and better sounding my wife's '16 Grand Cherokee is. Of course, my Wrangler beats all of them! Lol
Awesome video... 2 questions... do you have the ability to reset the instrument cluster maintenance required light ( the one that comes on for oil changes etc.) through the new stereo like you do with the factory one, and 2) I take you need to disconnect the OBD2 connector anytime you want to hook up a diagnostic tool/reader?

I'm really favoring USB wired over wireless I hate using Bluetooth, I think it makes your phone a lot more vulnerable to being hacked

The OBD seems optional. From what I can tell, if you didn't plug it in, you would lose the two screens that contain general vehicle info, including speed, tire pressure, fuel level, intake, etc. If you look at 17:03 it shows the first screen but there's a second one too. Those two feel like they're almost a separate part of the interface but honestly not a big deal to not have them.

Excellent tutorial. As some others mentioned, just using tape for the wire connections may not be the best solution over time. Time will tell. Can you let me know what that mounted cell phone holder is? Is it Tundra specific?

Most places you can buy stereos from (Crutchfield, Amazon, etc) allow you to put your car in to see if it’s compatible. The Maestro kits really make things work super well so if there’s a Maestro kit for the F150, you can go to their site and see what stereos are compatible with it.

I completely forgot to but I had already broken my FM antenna prior to this so I was used to not having any radio. If I were to go back I would have at least connected it though.
From what I saw, that's an option, yes. I actually have an additional camera but it didn't have the correct connection so I didn't bother but the head unit seems to indicate that you can connect multiple cameras.

Hey Steven, I ordered this one: www.proclipusa.com/product/854957-proclip-center-mount?sSearch=854957 but that's just the mount, no phone holder included, so I got an auto clamping wireless charger like this geni.us/Y2V3 and bolted it on with some screws and glue. The Pro Clip company has great holding devices too but they're more expensive for sure. For what it's worth, the stereo I upgraded to in my Tundra has wireless CarPlay so ended up removing the phone mount since I just keep my phone in my pocket now.

The steering wheel controls are very important to complete the job while having all the buttons and switches work as expected. You didn't show or say anything about that.
I do have the JBL upgrade. I did plug in the GPS and satellite - not sure if I showed it. I actually never use those though since the phone mirroring works so well I use Apple CarPlay for all maps all the time.
I have a serious question. If you have OEM navi can it still be transfered to a aftermarket unit? I know about carplay and all that but sometimes OEM navi is more accurate in the woods. When cell reception is down
If I can afford a 57K truck I can afford a pro to put it in. There are a lot of plug and play wiring harnesses out there so why splice and tape. Good for you to do it though.
A lot if not most services automotive do not I repeat emphatically do not do the job safely and or correctly!!! Lifetime mechanic engine/body. 35 years experience. Local warranteed job for the air compressor units on my tundra came back with the hoses not connected to their respective positions amongst the harnesses and the wheel well shroud was in a bag in the bed with no push pins. Also e brake was not corrected or maybe even untouched. Center bearing/driveshaft bushing also not touched. That's only one of many many many trucks and cars I've owned personally. Customers cars, are prorated dependent upon whom has worked on it previously. Add 65/hr if it was the customer that worked on it prior.
Overall this kit is way too complicated. Look at all the wires parts adapters etc. all over the truck this is no easy install. I wouldn’t attempt this even if it was a $10,000 truck
You don't have to remove the center console to get to any of that, and for the love of god please use wirenuts or crimps or something and not just black tape to hold the wires together.
Did your Tundra not have USB connections below the climate control unit prior to your upgrade. I'd rather reuse the existing USB ports and not have cables extending out there.
It does, yes. They're only for power but I suppose I (maybe?) could have spliced the new ones in so long as they were capable of handling both data and power. Certainly worth looking into.
You just twisted the wires together and slapped some electrical tape on them?! Lmao yea those wont rattle loose eventually haha you should ALWAYS solder and shrink wrap automotive wiring....
I'm not sure where you're getting that info but my truck (in this video) is a JBL system. It still has all the JBL speakers and it's working beautifully.

You don't need the stock stereo to reset the maintenance indicator.

Maestor's website is saying 2018 tundra is NOT compatible with the RR kit. Also the T02 does NOT come with ANY RCA connectors...

Absolutely - yes. In fact, you can actually program those controls to your liking now. It’s pretty rad.
