Can confirm this improved the shifting on my NX derailleur. After the install (very easy BTW) i took it for a ride and the shifting was actually WORSE, i was like WTF. Went and reindexed and no better, thought to check B screw gap (luckily I had the tool gauge) and yep it was way out. After adjusting correct B gap the shifting is HEAPS BETTER. No more cheap wonky free play in the derailleur main pivot. The SRAM X01 Eagle Rear Derailleur B-Bolt & Limit Screw Kit cost me $AUD51, which is a much cheaper upgrade than buying a GX mech, which is $200+.
Yeah probably nothing to worry about for a few months depending how much riding you do. I had done the mod to my gx after about a year from new as it started the shift poorly. Now the gx is knackered so I bought a new NX to replace it so it gave me the opportunity to make this video while transferring the bolt to the new derailleur. The x01 bolt is about 2 years old and as seen on the vid there is hardly any wear to it so it's definitely the right way to go. The original gx bolt was battered after a year when I replaced it with the x01 kit.
I had a 11 Speed GX, swapped it out to 12 Speed GX, and during the swap some of the shims on the old bolt just fell apart. Thanks for the video, imma get me some bolts just in case
I did this, it was absolutely an improvement until the clutch died a few months later. Replaced it with xt mech and i sorta think I should have done that from the start.
@@BoAndHisBike it was a gradual loosening so I didn't really notice until the bike got quite loud. It was weaker than the xt with the clutch off in the end. Worth checking it's tension periodically.
@yeahboiwahoo Sorry but I've just re-read your post. Did I understand correctly that you used Shimano XT derailleur with the SRAM Eagle drivetrain?? If so how well does this combo work together?
@@BoAndHisBike xt mech and shifter, the rest is still nx etc. Works better than the full nx but not quite as nice as how an xt cassette and chain etc does but that's a bunch more money.
Or lock it in place by adding a thicker washer on the outside, no reason for it to move once you have the b-gap set. Even cheaper and much quieter. TRP has this as a feature on their derailleurs
SX throw in garbage. NX throw in garbage. Gx all day. Set b-tension with white tool In the 11th. Keep your bike clean and you won’t have issues. Don’t forget hanger alignment. 3 years 16000km on Gx axs with Ratio sr52x cage and pulleys. Lots of crashes. No issues.
Seems like a pretty silly and misguided upgrade to me. The real difference between and NX Eagle and a GX Eagle derailleur is lots of more important things that a pivot bolt that doesn't even move during shifting and a bit of weight. The GX jockey pullies have bearings insteead of bushings, the cable pulley is removable for cleaning and replacement, and the whole derailleur is also notably stiffer and harder to bend. It looks to me like you are just promoting the sales of an almost pointless upgrade.
Have you done it yourself? From the tone of your comment I'm guessing the answer is a 'no'. I have and the play in that bolt definitely affects shifting negatively. I have done it on both NX and GX with the same level of improvement.
There is a noticeable difference in the mounts for the NX/GX versus the X01/XX1. The NX/GX shift fine for about 6 months of riding until they loosen up substantially, especially in mud and wet weather. This kit would help shifting since the X01/XX1 stuff is a lot more solid in the long run and is a lot more firm even from factory.
one of the best things about youtube is we get to see who NOT to take advice from prior to ever engaging ing personally with that person . aside from that doubling down on criticism is not a good look for a channel
Where did I exactly 'double down on criticism'? It's a common problem on the lower end derailleurs from the SRAM Eagle family. Just go and do some googling for yourself. Think about this logically for a second. Why would SRAM change the mounting kit on the high end Eagle derailleurs (X01 and XX1)? There is got to be a good reason for that.
I think I have to agree with you. Shimano does shift a lot better however this SRAM Eagle groupset is really cheap to maintain. I paid £50 for 2 cassettes on sale. You can't get nowhere near that with Shimano!
@@BoAndHisBike you are absolutly right. Price of SRAM cassettes is awesome. It is especially important on eBikes where this part disappears just in matter of seconds ;)

Mine's fairly new at the moment, but thanks for the tip - I'll try to remember it for the future!

Haha good old SRAM 😅. I wonder how long this NX derailleur is going to last 🤔

Doesn't the room for it to move protect it a bit from rock strikes, hitting the ground, etc.?
@@BoAndHisBike I don't believe so. It doesn't move a lot but just enough to make noise on bigger hits
Thanks.
Love my GX 810 11 speed. need nothing more. shifts crisp and precise.
I wouldn't mind a 11 speed on my eeb. Less problems with 11 speed systems in my experience.
Great tip I will be doing this 👌
Sram NXI had more than 10,000 km on the ebike.i exchanged it for sram GX.

I replaced my battered GX (~6500km) which I couldn't index properly anymore with NX. Let's see how long is it going to last 🙄😅.

NX desintegrates after a couple of trails, I can shake the cage pins out just by riding it even if its new! worse shit you can buy

Haha true that. Over the winter in the sh!tty UK's weather with mud and grit on every ride they seem to last a couple of rides 😂.
I also agree with you. Shimano is much better than SRAM, whether about transmissions or brakes
Haha don't even get me started on SRAM brakes! 😂
