Where I live whole foods ends up less expenses for a lot of items than our regular stores. That being said a lot of things are more expensive, sadly I'm talking mainly about produce
I live in Belgium and we have those exact same truffle chips in supermarkets for 3,50 euros a bag. That's already very expensive, but not even close to what Erewhon charges for them. You're absolutely paying for the name. Loved seeing the products though, thanks Mia!
Yeah, we have them in Bulgaria for about the same price. The Erewhon price is ridiculous! Also, I don't even think these are the best truffle chips out there. I've tried cheaper ones from a supermarket brand and I liked those better.
The 70% cacao pink himalayan salt chocolate is £2.50 (€2.92) in the UK The torres truffle crisps are £3.90 (€4.45) in the UK . But we have a supermarket who make their own brand at £2.25 (€2.62)
Just an FYI, a lot of epipens still work well a bit after expiration, so if you ever end up only having an expired one again, I would check your specific pen for efficacy after expiration 💙
Yes and nothing bad happens to you from the pen if you use an expired one. I mean it may not be effective but if that's all you've got at hand it's better to try and see.
@IzuAurora That's what I recalled, but I wasn't positive about it, so I didn't wanna claim it and possibly put someone in danger. It's always a pain trying to figure out which things are dangerous when expired and which are just less effective
The expiration date on medications often means that its no longer guaranteed to be 100% effective. After the expiration date it could be down to only 98% effective or lower its hard to say as these things are rigorously tested but usually there isnt any adverse effects from taking meds that are a little expired. So if its between an expired epipen or nothing, use the expired epipen.
Lol i live in the US and epi pens are so expensive/not covered and i grew up poor. Barely getting not poor at 30. Lol. My epi pem expired in 2006 i kept the same one until 2015. Lol. My doctor said it would still work then. I only got another one cuz i lost it in a move.
Food allergy pro tip: ALWAYS read the packaging even if you've had the product before. Online ingredient lists may not be up to date/accurate and companies change recipes all the time. The packaging should state there has been a recipe change but better safe than sorry 🙂 Glad Mama Maples checked!
Mama maples!!! I have the perfect kale chip routine (salt and vinegar so it is healthy): preheat the oven to 350. Take 1 bundle of kale, rip off the leafy parts from the stem (don’t worry if they aren’t perfect and you get some stem strings) and put in a bowl (they don’t have to be even so do not waste the little tiny ones but maybe rip the big ones in half). Put 1tbsp of olive oil and 1tbsp of white vinegar into the bowl with your leaves. Massage (I prefer to wear gloves) until they are a nice dark green and feel soft. Squeeze them as you dump out the extra liquid (you don’t have to worry about being gentle) Lay them out onto a baking sheet and crinkle with sea salt (just lightly) then put in the oven for 12 min. Flip them/ shuffle them around and put back in the oven for 6 min . Put them in a container and sprinkle with another little dash of salt and shake then let cool. I normally use 3 bunches to make a “full bowl” like a bag of chips because they shrink down so much but when you first lay them out they take up a lot of the sheet
I came here just to say this! I make a peanut sauce version, too -- put a spoon of smooth peanut butter, a dash of soy sauce, and a little bit of either thai spice or chinese 5-spice. Massage that and a splash of olive or sesame oil in, following the rest of AK's method. They're amazing, and addictive and now I want to go buy some kale. :D
I love how mama maples was says, "I know these are expensive so I will guess high" and then proceeds to guess about half the actual price on every item! 😆😆❤
I love how despite every single item being nearly double the price that Mama Maples guessed, she kept guessing lower - as if she was hoping that the prices weren't stupidly insane.
It’s so funny watching mama maples and Mia gaslight themselves into liking the products to compensate the ridiculous price lol. Still excited to see you posted and enjoyed watching keep it up!!
One thing I do appreciate about Erewon is the stuff being sold in jars and kept really fresh. Not only that but the limited use of plastic is really refreshing in the packaging of a lot of the stuff.
Leopard print. A handy mnemonic I learned to remember it, Cats Love Jam/Jelly = Cheetahs, Leopards, Jaguars. They go in order of size, cheetahs being the smallest of the three, and Jaguars being the largest. It's also a handy marking indicator. Cheetahs have spots, Leopards have rosettes, and Jaguars have rosettes with spots inside them
I would be so happy if this second channel turns into a food channel! I'm so curious about your opinions on food like tasting several instant noodles, snacks, chocolate bar, etc, and rank on which one you like the best!
The regional name for water lily seeds is ‘Makhana’, it’s a staple for many people in India, specially during fasting. Try the masala flavour if you can find it!!!
Oh! Now I understand why these chips are known in Canada as luxury and super expensive🎉🫣🙈 Those truffle chips are originally from Spain and they cost here 1,8-2,5€ for a bag❤ Also, Mia, thank you for your videos and all hard work! Watching and loving your channel for almost a decade ❤❤❤❤❤
The torres potatoes chips are from Spain, and they cost like 1€ (1$ aprox.) and you can find them in the convenience store hahahah ridiculous what these supermarkets do, finding nice packagings and reselling them because they look fancy (btw I love your content Mia
Y'all crack me up so much!!!! You make me miss my Mama, she passed a couple of years ago, and we were super close like you guys!!! And we always made each other laugh!!! Enjoy every single moment you have with her, Mia!!!
5:23 in India, these are called Makhana (muh-khaa-naa) and they’re sold both raw & simple and flavoured & packaged! We toast the raw makhana in some clarified butter and salt to taste. They’re a healthy crunchy delight 🤍 Erewhon has marked up the prices 10x !!! We get them for about a dollar, be it the the flavoured ones or a biiig packet of raw makhana ;)
"ashapops" is a super common snack in india (it's called makhana here) and super cheap tbh haha. We roast it in ghee and season w salt and pepper, super yummy
I love your mom. You just flat out say "You are the target audience for this store. Lots of CASH and easily scammed" and she just laughs about it. I tried telling my mom not to fall for Facebook Scams and she gave me a 5 hour lecture how she brought me into this world. Also, she doesn't just have stacks of cash 😂 So glad she saved your life too! Go get that epipen! People with allergies can NOT afford to be without one
11:10 - Love Haystacks. Also made them a lot as a kid. I think we had them every Christmas along with Nanaimo bars and sugar cookies. There are macaroons and macarons. I was really mixed up baking as a teen sometimes. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just want to say- I have been watching your videos for so very long. I love the videos with your mom, I recently lost my mother and I just love your twos relationship, reminds me of my mom and I ❤️
Hey Mia , nice video.those water Lilly seeds are actually lotus seeds .when you roast them they pop up just like popcorns, it’s very healthy , I am from Indian and it’s very common to eat it as snacks. it’s expensive because it’s difficult to harvest 😊 I love your video’s specially when u make it with mama maples ❤ lots of love❤
Torres is an Spanish brand, we have the same chips here for around 3€ to 3,50€ It is already a high price point compared to other brands, but 12$ 😅 That's a steal
The water lily popped seeds one (ashapops) is a common snack in India, we call them makhanas. You can buy them raw, roast them, and eat them with your choice of seasonings or you can make makhana chat. Chop up some onions, cucumber, and tomato, add bhujia and peanuts, top it up with lemon juice and cilantro. Don't forget to add all kinds of seasonings, salt, black pepper, red chilli powder, cumin powder, chat masala, garam masala and whatever you feel like. I personally like my makhana chat with a little bit of amchur powder (raw dried mango powder), it's a very light and filling snack. I will highly suggest you to try it. PS: Flavoured makhanas are also available in Indian store. I don't know if they are affordable in canada but they are really affordable here.
As someone who can't even be in the room with anyone eating peanuts, I sympathize. I used to not be AS allergic and would sneak a peanut here and there (and regret it immediately) because I thought I was missing out. After 2 pregnancies, my allergy has gotten so much worse! But now, I'm not even bothered by not getting to eat peanuts, I love breathing better! ❤
Sea moss is a seaweed which explains the sand and salt. But you need to soak it first. For recipe you can look caribbean seamoss drinks. It has been used here for decades. Full of minerals and vitamins and use to to boast energy too.
We do have the Torre truffle chips in large supermarket and health food store for less than half that price! You guys are great, thank you for your honesty, integrity and great work.
The water lily seeds are very common where I'm from and I love them! You can get them plain and roast at home with whatever spices you like. They're called makhana.
Kale chips are simple, I use a bunch of kale hand pick off the leaves around same size mix in a bowl with a generous amount of oil mix with seasoning of choice I like garlic and onion, preheat oven to 350 and check every 5 minutes til the biggest piece of kale is fully crispy
I’m so glad mama maples checked the label. I had a high school friend of a friend die after eating a chocolate bar as their recipe had changed and they didn’t change the ingredient list!
I dont hate the light you bought, but when you showed it up against the white and blue painted wall, it was giving ☆*~hospital~*☆ I love the final bathroom look!
I bought the truffle chips here in Europe, the netherlands and spain, for like a max of 3 euro lol. And I buy dried mango at Lidl here in the netherlands, it's a bit like Aldi i guess? And its like this, just in a reseable plastic bag and it's also without any sugars and smells amazing! Also like 2 or 3 euro?
mama maples checking for nuts despite you being a grown woman was just the thoughtful thing i needed to see today 😭🤍 moms never stop thinking about their kids
I used to think Whole Foods was ridiculously expensive… now Erewhon is on another level!
I was just thinking this!! You know it's bad when Whole Foods is looking cheap by comparison
Mama Maples was for sure guessing Whole Foods prices lol
Where I live whole foods ends up less expenses for a lot of items than our regular stores. That being said a lot of things are more expensive, sadly I'm talking mainly about produce
Erewhon makes Whole Foods and Gelson’s look like the Dollar Tree.
erewhon makes whole foods look like a walmart
Mom’s never stop protecting their kids ❤ mama Maples saved your life!
Amen ❤
*moms

I was thinking that I saw those around for much less! >:0
They weren‘t even that good

please wash first 🥲
Nice , kale chips are so easy to make I really don’t think it’s worth to buy it especially for 20$ 😅
I love how mama maples was says, "I know these are expensive so I will guess high" and then proceeds to guess about half the actual price on every item! 😆😆❤

I love how you both are wearing matching cheetah print and don’t even say anything about it 🤣🤣 also dying laughing at all mama maples reactions

"this is officially a food channel now" and honestly I wouldn't mind) Thank you for these entertaining videos!
Same!
I need a full Evan story! 😂😂 love you and mama maples.
Yeah, I want the story, too. That's rotten that someone would scam Mama Maples! Especially if she was trying to help them sell door to door!
Me too 😂 I actually would love to listen to random stories from the daily life of Mama maples and Mia ! Would be a fun new category of video type ! 😜
I would be so happy if this second channel turns into a food channel! I'm so curious about your opinions on food like tasting several instant noodles, snacks, chocolate bar, etc, and rank on which one you like the best!
Yesss😂❤
I don’t think you know how much this made my week. I love y’all together❤ and it’s been a rough week to say the least. Thank u❤
I hope your week improves 💙
I love watching you try food! It's so nice to see someone enjoy food for what it is, without making a divide between "good" and "bad" foods
The regional name for water lily seeds is ‘Makhana’, it’s a staple for many people in India, specially during fasting. Try the masala flavour if you can find it!!!

Organic truffle chips (100gr) in the organic store I use to work were 3.45 euros (4.93 canadians dollars). 12 dollars is a robbery xD
And they probably won’t give you cancer and birth defects 🫣
5:48 water lilly pops are actually originally from India.🇮🇳 These are called “Makhana” here. Very good for health and metabolism
Yay a Mama Maples and Mia video! Let my smiles begin! 😃😍

Double animal print, loving the dress code 😍
Mia your skin tone is so beautiful oml I was staring at how perfect your skin looks the whole time😭
prefectly timed for my lunch break!!
I love that mama maples checked just to make sure there were no nuts in the KALE... and saved Mia's life. What a hero
Sea moss is a seaweed which explains the sand and salt. But you need to soak it first. For recipe you can look caribbean seamoss drinks. It has been used here for decades. Full of minerals and vitamins and use to to boast energy too.
When I have a bad day I think I just need to watch Mia because you are just a sweet soul.
Same!! 🫠🥰🥰
The way Mia’s mom put all her head in the chips bag 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️
Mia’s faces and zoom ins always make me crack up 😂😂
Mia you should try remaking the smoothies but for a much cheaper price!
We do have the Torre truffle chips in large supermarket and health food store for less than half that price! You guys are great, thank you for your honesty, integrity and great work.
What your mom explained was a macaroon that you guys used to make, we call no bake cookies. I still make them. My kids love them 😂❤
The water lily seeds are very common where I'm from and I love them! You can get them plain and roast at home with whatever spices you like. They're called makhana.
I got those same chips at a chain grocery store for $4 US dollars 😂
Kale chips are simple, I use a bunch of kale hand pick off the leaves around same size mix in a bowl with a generous amount of oil mix with seasoning of choice I like garlic and onion, preheat oven to 350 and check every 5 minutes til the biggest piece of kale is fully crispy
7:40 "I would not pay $21," but girl you did 😆
Anything with mama maples makes me crack up !
You will always be my comfort TH-camr ❤️❤️
Mama maples gasping every single time you reveal the real price was double her estimate 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Man her mom had to have been a heartbreaker back in her day! Her eyes are stunning.
Love your videos featuring mama maples, made my day that you were twinning on outfits 🐆
I’m so glad mama maples checked the label. I had a high school friend of a friend die after eating a chocolate bar as their recipe had changed and they didn’t change the ingredient list!
Fun fact I bought the EXACT same truffle chips in my country and they literally cost under $3 CAD.
Erewhon is a scam
Bless it!! I was having a rough day until I noticed you posted a video. Yessssssssss!!!!!!
We're all just ignoring the matching leopard print?
I dont hate the light you bought, but when you showed it up against the white and blue painted wall, it was giving ☆*~hospital~*☆
I love the final bathroom look!
u both wearing cheetah print is so cute❤
i love when ur mom is in ur videos u guys are so fun
12:35 I just noticed that they were both wearing cheetah print
You and your Mom are adorable! You sound exactly alike and have the same mannerisms! ❤️
Don't worry that California label is on everything. They would put it on air if they could
I literally gasped after every single price even though i knew it was expensive 😭😭!! Also u two are sooooo hilarious. Omg 🤣
Erewhon stands for "Nowhere," as in, where will you find higher prices? Nowhere.😊
I'm so sad, Most of these foods are traditionally found in India locally and they are VERY CHEAP like 0.5CAD for that amount of water lillyseeds :).
Interesting.. 🤔
mama maples checking for nuts despite you being a grown woman was just the thoughtful thing i needed to see today 😭🤍 moms never stop thinking about their kids
i love you and mama maples, such a good comedic duo
A macaRON is those almond cookies with filling inside and a macaROON is a coconut cookie so those 2 things are different 😂
they know .. that's why she said ooooon at the end of the word.
They weren’t talking about macarons. They were saying macaroons
@@notkatieparryexactly hence the ooooon ending mentioned and said in the video.
@@YVRCasting exactly so not sure why OP even commented this lol
I love how similar you two are. So related!
At this point, Loblaws isn't far behind in prices.
i can just tell ur mom is ur best friend, such a cute relationship 😭🩷
why would kale chips have nuts???
Vegan ranch is often made with cashew and those kale chips were vegan ranch flavored
That sounds gross 🤢
evan better sleeps with one eye open
