I think that what Steve is referring to on point #2 is regarding capital losses per trade. For example, on a $30K brokerage trading account no single trade would exceed $300-$600 before being stopped out the trade. Trader bought $3K worth of PFE (which is 10% of the brokerage account value), and placed a Stop Sell order at a price where the maximum loss he/she will have are $450 (1.5% of Total Portfolio Value).

steve, if you invest your portfolio 1-2% , your portfolio will not brenrfit max . One more point is We have to verify trend is upward.
