The only difference for us "Nid players" between the Empire and Chaos is if we want beef or lamb chops for supper. Because outside of a slight difference in flavor and texture, you are ALL nothing but "supper" waiting to be served on the platter. That is the most fun about playing as a "Nid player". Being able to consider your foe as simply different meals for supper. From the "salad" of the Orcs, to the "bread roles" of the Tau, or the sweets of the Eldar, or the pallet cleaning Necrons. You are ALL supper, and the only difference we have to keep in the Hive-Mind is just how many of what force we want to send out to do the "pickup order" for us. (Meaning that the only REAL difference between the factions, is how many units of what type you use to play against them)

Or should they go back and repeat the past in greater detail. In this we see different truths than what had been portraited to the imperium and to the real world fans. Creating a completly different perspective on the narrative.

It's always dangerous to use biological warfare against the Nids. More than one story mentions them being attacked with life-eater viruses to great effect only for the Nids to use the same virus against them a few years down the line.

In my opinion, the reason the Tyranids no longer ignore Chaos is perfectly logical: Before, Chaos had been nothing more than a minor irritant, something that could be safely ignored unless they were directly provoked; But with the opening of the Cicatrix Maledictum and the subsequent scattering of Hive Fleets through the Warp, Chaos has managed to upgrade itself from "minor irritant" to "credible threat" and thus elicited an immune response in the form of increased aggression and specialized anti-warp counter-measures such as Hive Fleet Kronos.

Back when Dawn of War II came out and I was first getting into 40k, I just saw the Tyranids as another cool xenos army. A swarm of bugs that just wanted to kill you. Hmph. Nice and simple. Would make good fodder for Space Marines. Yeah no. Fighting Tyranids would be actual hell. You could be impaled, torn to shreds, paralyzed, poisoned, eaten alive, eaten alive from the inside out, eaten alive from both the outside AND the inside, stomped on, melted by bio-plasma, mind-raped, head-sploded, hooked up and reeled in, vaporised by psychic attacks or, if you're especially unlucky, swallowed whole and alive and agonisingly digested over several days. All while fighting a foe that has superior coordination to any army ever, superior mobility as all of its heavy ordnance is mounted on mobile platforms, and superior logistics as the dead from any battle can just be recycled into more Tyranids. As I said, not fun.

See, that does change the dynamic of the hivemind by quite a bit, now it has to save biomass, focus on taking on chaos. and estabilish a foothold. That will be interesting.
You’d think Slaanesh and Nurgle would be furious with the tyranids doing what they do, eventually they’ll lose major power if the nids succeed. Khorne is probably pleased though
The Tyranids are the most disgustingly scary faction in the 40k 'verse, and it's between them or the Necrons (barring what would be the biggest Big E plot armor event in the galaxy) as to who will "win" the grimdark.
Crazy theory but what if: The Tyranids are a creation of remnant Old Ones who fled the 40k galaxy after the loss of the War in Heaven. With the plan being to collect all the biomass in the galaxy and leaving a clean slate for these Old Ones to come back and recreate the galaxy as they think it should be.

@@zergrush_9704 Well IF we assume the Old Ones made them and sent them towards the Galaxy they could have done this tens of thousands Millenia ago if not hundreds of thousand. Which would mean they couldn't be sure of the exact location of everything within the galaxy over such a long period of time. So you could take it that they knew about such devices or at least knew enough about Necron technology to allow the Tyranid Hivemind discern it and know what it represents. ( I don't actually think this is what the origin of the Tyranids is BUT it is allllllll lining up quite neatly. The Old Ones did make/influence a number of the races in 40k, with the Orks being surprisingly similar to Tyranids. Both being dedicated to conflict/having racial gestalt psychic fields and both having unique interactions with their own genetics, the Orks having an inbuilt racial knowledge and the Tyranids able to genetically modify themselves enmasse. Really it's the creation of the Orks that makes the Tyranids seem like Old One creations, having an even greater racial gestalt psychic field and skipping out the need for any level of material technology and just going full bio-tech, which resolves one of the Orks biggest weakness of needing other advanced civilisations to pilfer scrap from otherwise they struggle to move beyond the Feral Ork stage.)

The Tyranids are the most disgustingly scary faction in the 40k 'verse, and it's between them or the Necrons (barring what would be the biggest Big E plot armor event in the galaxy) as to who will "win" the grimdark.

Crazy theory but what if: The Tyranids are a creation of remnant Old Ones who fled the 40k galaxy after the loss of the War in Heaven. With the plan being to collect all the biomass in the galaxy and leaving a clean slate for these Old Ones to come back and recreate the galaxy as they think it should be.
if this is so, then the Tyranids should have known where our galaxy is, and not go to the light of the Pharos beacon.
@@zergrush_9704 But the Pharos Beacon was made by the Necrons originally so you can easily take it as the Tyranids homing into the greatest threat that the Old Ones knew about.

@@zergrush_9704 Well IF we assume the Old Ones made them and sent them towards the Galaxy they could have done this tens of thousands Millenia ago if not hundreds of thousand. Which would mean they couldn't be sure of the exact location of everything within the galaxy over such a long period of time. So you could take it that they knew about such devices or at least knew enough about Necron technology to allow the Tyranid Hivemind discern it and know what it represents. ( I don't actually think this is what the origin of the Tyranids is BUT it is allllllll lining up quite neatly. The Old Ones did make/influence a number of the races in 40k, with the Orks being surprisingly similar to Tyranids. Both being dedicated to conflict/having racial gestalt psychic fields and both having unique interactions with their own genetics, the Orks having an inbuilt racial knowledge and the Tyranids able to genetically modify themselves enmasse. Really it's the creation of the Orks that makes the Tyranids seem like Old One creations, having an even greater racial gestalt psychic field and skipping out the need for any level of material technology and just going full bio-tech, which resolves one of the Orks biggest weakness of needing other advanced civilisations to pilfer scrap from otherwise they struggle to move beyond the Feral Ork stage.)
