    In this video we show you how to install a Wi-Fi connected relay to remotely open and close your garage door. It's a very simple process that doesn't take too long and it not a difficult task either.

    At 2:32 there's an extra half inch of bare wire hanging out the terminal block. Not a big deal in this case, it's just relay contacts. But if someone tries this with real voltage there will be guaranteed mayhem.

    Thank you for the video, I did two similar to this (one for the garage door and another one for the gate) but I don't have the inching mode on smartthings and I had to add a routine for auto-off after 1 second.
    Now I'm after a device that will give me an indication of the gate's situation.
    The gate has limit switches and I want to use them for that purpose. All I need is a wifi device that whether the circuit is open or closed.
    Do you know such a device?

    great video. i did that with the regular sunoff, but it just works if you a visual of the garage door. the software does not show the state if it is open or closed. if you are away and you want to make sure you did not forget to close the garage door, you cant..

      You need another sensor which checks whether the garage is open or not. This works exactly like the button on the remote control. You do not know from the remote control whether you open or close your garage door.

    Great video. I actually did this about a year ago. But I had recently had some issues with it. It dropped connection. But I was able to fix that through compatible mode. I have a question about “itching” what exactly is it?

    • @AtTech128
      @AtTech128  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Inching mode turns on for the specified amount of time and then turns back off. It’s important to use that so that it shorts the wires and acts as a button press.

    • @thurm101
      @thurm101 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At Tech I had to disable it. It would make the garage go up and down.

    • @husky3g
      @husky3g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thurm101 Probably the need for inching depends on your garage door's switch. If the completed circuit tells the opener to "keep opening/keep circuit complete while open" and "close garage door when circuit is incomplete" inching will just make the garage door go up temporarily, then right back down. You could probably fine tune the inching to match your garage door's opening time, but honestly the way you have it set up is probably easier.

    Hi, if I turn on inching the relay keeps on clicking. Does the inching needs to be on all the time using it as a garage door opener? Do you have a video how to use it with alexa and google home?

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Al or gh can be used, just add or Sync ewelink on the assistant you want. If the device works with Alexa. The device has to be on all the time as it works on wifi.

    • @joshface04
      @joshface04 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's probably connected either the wrong way wrong on the terminals on the circuit and/or the terminals on the garage door. Check your user's manual, if you don't have this look up your model no. on google along with the words "user's manual".

      Are you asking about opening your garage door with the existing button? This was covered in the video:
      1. unplug the garage door power cord
      2. add 2 wires to the garage door wiring panel in addition to the wires that are already in place
      3. plug a USB power module into the mains power
      4. plug the garage door power cord into the mains power
      5. set up the software app and test to be sure all is well

    So will this tell you if the garage is closed or open?

    • @husky3g
      @husky3g 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because this only is simple electronics, the relay is either "circuit complete/circuit open", which means the relay may be able to report it when using the relay, but when the garage door is opened by the normal switch, it likely won't tell you because the relay is not the one closing/opening the circuit. They are ran in series, so they both operate independently without interference from the other.
