In this final question on the treatise on Creation, St. Thomas spends three articles discussing the timing of the beginning of the world or universe. Did it, as Aristotle believed, always exist or did it come into being at a particular time? St. Thomas will hold that the world began at a particular time but he will insist that this is not something we are able to prove demonstrably but rather must be accepted as a rule of faith.
