Yeah I felt like when Bob was describing AOC right now it sounded like Bernie back when he started in politics and we all know he was super progressive for his time and luckly AOC is in the right time when all the young people are also more progressive. I felt like Bob was setting the bar so high that even Bernie wasn't going to be able to achieve it.

@@yun-pg8cr I don't know if that's all true. They seem to be more into politics than previous generations other than boomers that fucked it all up. We also have to understand that they are the ones we have to consider when making decisions for the future because the baton is going to have to get to them at some point. 🤷🏻♂️

Bob shifted the goal post on the AOC discussion and then tried to do backflips to confront that the standard he set was too high. Asking that she pass 50 laws, when Bernie only passed 7 and then excusing that Bernie only passed 7 because of his left-wing politics, when AOC is similarly on the left and so would not be able to meet his ridiculous standard.
Also, Bob said that AOC not being able to pass 50 in 5 years would show she is not effective in passing laws when the reason why Biden can pass 42 laws is because a big part of doing that is compromising with the other side, the very thing that Bob critiques. The argumentation is inconsistent, simply to avoid acknowledging that there is an unfair bias against younger politicians, demanding all this experience. A 35 year old with some experience can be President since USA is currently being run by someone with none. That 35yo will be surrounded by advisors and technocrats.
I agree. I don't think it matters how many bills they get passed....what matters is the content of their bills. Of course the more progressive bills will not get voted in. Progressive politicians have to always fight that uphill battle. As a matter of fact, the point that their bills aren't passed is a plus in my book...that means the bills are for us regular people and not big corporations and their own "becoming rich" agenda. Just the fact that she would have had some government experience, and actually cares about PEOPLE, not her pocketbook, makes her a million times better than many of the politicians out there. Any less experienced progressive is far better than any more experienced conservative ANY DAY, IMO.
You summarized my thoughts so well 😁👍🏻 Bob was being a bit too ridiculous with the standards he was setting for AOC. The whole idea that you need "experience" to run for president went out the window when 45 the clown was elected.
@Jaxtraterrestrial X If anything I feel like when it comes to politics sometimes the more time politicians spend in office the more disconnected they are from everyday life for Americans. There are exceptions to the rule obviously but it's almost like their experience is working against them and they no longer understand what the people want. Also many of them become rich or get their hands into some money so they start to base their ideas on what benefits their pockets. 🤷🏻♂️

Bernie only enacted 7 bills in Vermont. It is very common for senators to not successfully pass bills. So I wouldn’t just focus on bills that are passed but also committee work, amendments, and overseeing branches of the government

I feel like bob reasoning for chastising Monet for the possibility of voting for A.O.C. under very specific circumstances is that he can’t Feasibly see aoc becoming a serious candidate of the Democratic Party and maybe it’s because the dems always lean towards older establishment people also due to the amount of older people who vote in the primaries compared to the younger people. I see it completely possible for A.O.C 2028 but is she likely too? Probably not lol

It always strikes me interesting that Bob chastises Monet when she generalizes and makes absolutes, but here 1:07:00 we have Bob trying to force Monet to change her opinion haha. I agree with Monet, if someone at 35 has had a few years of experience by that point, I don't see a problem with voting for them if they align with your policies. Lest we not forget Obama was only 3 years into his Senate position until he ran for President.
I also love how Bob changes his argument from "Bernie Sanders has passed a lot of policies" to "His policies are too progressive to be passed." Just because he's been on the Senate for a long time doesn't mean he's done anything for actual progression. He talks the talk but he rarely shows that he walks the walk.
Thats pretty unfair Bernie is the Amendment king for a reason. Bernie has only been a senator for 13 years Biden was a senator for 36 years before becoming VP and got only 42 passed. It's not that easy even if you were a Washington insider.

Bob, I don't think is smart to vote for someone based on age. Pre minister of New Zealand is 39 years of age, and has handled her position with great leadership. I don't think voting for AOC for president would be a vote wasted. SHe won't run for a long time, if ever. These old men have failed the country, I would vote for AOC if she ran. The right said "why not to Donald Trump", why not give AOC the grace the right gave to Donald Trump?
