    I remembered me and my mom were watching this episode on tv. I have autism, I didn't talk until I was 5 and I did the same things that the boy did. I had no fear at all....

    I agree with you. Also, the mother needs friends who also have autistic children so she knows she's not alone and also they would understand him as well and they can understand eachothers child.

    @HoneyNVinegar Right, Autism is not disease, it's a disorder. I think you're right that the word cure is a bit strong. Perhaps ameliorate the symptoms/deficits associated with Autism is a better way to put it. Obviously the end goal is a better quality of life for both the individual with Autism and the caregivers.

    no kidding, i'm have a mild form of asperger's syndrome. and what drives me nuts is when some adults play games with my mind, i.e. acting like they care when they really don't. and it makes me mad!!

    i know it's so sad...some parents would kill for kids who wanted to spend so much time with them and here are these girls who want nothing more than attention and love from their mum and she is only annoyed by them...

    Look at Tristen @1:42. He is the CUTEST! And they say he's "a difficult child to raise"? He's a 3 yr old boy, plus he has autism, yeah that's tough... But he's so cute and she talks about him like he's horrible. I've seen horrible kids on this show and he's NOT one of them.

    @RLore18 WHAT?
    First of all, did you even BOTHER to watch the episode?
    Jo didn't use her normal stern hand or anything like that!
    And also, "beat the disease out of a child?"
    Jo is known for her hate of spanking. She thinks that it is cruel and uneffective on ANY kid, let alone one with autism!

    wow, not only is that mum irresponsible with her autistic child, but she is being so neglectful to her girls when it's obvious they want to spend time with her!
    I mean, it must be harder to parent an autistic child, but she's not even doing right by her neurotypical kids.
    tl;dr, but i just felt so sorry for him...sitting down at the end of the table like that and his mom just saying 'why should anyone sit with him?' poor kid....

    im mildy autistic, i know how autistic children can be. its very hard to understand them and they cant find a way on how to speak, tristen is in his own little world, AND I AM DISGUSTED ON HOW THE FATHER SAYS "you gonna sit with him?" AND THE MOTHER HAS THE NERVE OF ALL TO SAY "why?" THATS JUST NOT RIGHT IM SORRY FOR SPEAKING IN CAPS BUT THATS NOT RIGHT EVER!! ok im done ranting. thats all i wanted to say. this is not negative, it just seems the mom has no way of using cominication with her son
