Hi all. Mario Aparicio here. I am their teacher!!
Ready For Geddy is from Archie Williams High School in San Anselmo, CA.
Super happy you are giving them the recognition they deserve. This was for a Performance Workshop class concert back in December.
The bass player made All Northern Honor Jazz Band and the others are a part of my award winning Archie Williams High School Jazz Band.
Have a good rest of your week and keep up the good work on Reaction Videos 👍🏽🔥🎶
Man you are blessed to have that kinda talent OR you are a very good teacher!!
You must be so proud of them
i don't know man i think these kids might be the ones teaching you, they killed it
you must be one of those very rare awesome teachers.
Are you like a real life Terence Fletcher but you give the the kids compliments instead of making them cry?
Megadeth was clearly just the warmup. The band is called "Ready for Geddy" and in their first group pic on insta the bassist is wearing a Rush shirt. HELL YEAH! 🤘
HELL YEAH, indeed!
Geddy Lee is a monster bassist 🤘
We started out as a rush cover band! Once you can play rush you can play anything 😂
is that true..?
@@noahcasey3700 That was some serious bass playing there, you killed it. I'm actually glad your lead guitarist didn't have a boost pedal because I could hear the bass pretty well, which is something I'm normally not good at :) All the best to all of you, keep on playing, music is a beautiful way of spending your free time and share time and good vibes with other people.
@@noahcasey3700 You guys kicked ass, and now you're getting the props you deserve! Congrats 🎉 Not sure how you got to be such a good bass player with a drummer for a dad 😉 Get your singer a vocal boost so we can hear her better! 🤘
Thank you for reacting to our video! This was for our school music class, but we also have a rush cover band outside of school with almost the same members called “Ready for Geddy.”
Great job!!
You guys deserve the recognition from the Art of Guitar!
Great job. Nice to see that some Gen Z likes great music!!!
Bro the bass and drums u guys are legit. What 8 wouldnt give to have found a cpl guys who were junkies like i was we couldve ruled the world! Now go forth my youngvrock wizards and blow minds w ur vicious rock 🤘🏻
You guys killed it!!!!!!! Really well done.
The rhythm section is off the chain. Give that drummer a full kit for his next birthday! The bassist is the frontman.
He’s waaaay more ginger than Dave. 😊
I am a student at the high school where this performance took place, and also a member of the music class. This band is truly amazing and the musicians are all awesome people. They deserve all the recognition they've been getting. I'm lucky to be in a class with musicians like these!
hey ben
you're awesome too bro 👊
you certainly are! Keep rockin!
Have you guys thought about sending this to Dave Mustaine, Marty Friedman, and David Ellefson? That would be very cool.
Poor rhythm guitarist got no love!
i was thinking if he was gonna talk about him or not the whole video 😂
he's kinda turned down in the mix, maybe that's why
He's off-camera almost the whole time which is a little sad!
His hair is freaking awesome!! 🤘🏻
@@roguerage9328 Amen! I said the same thing! :-D Killer T-shirt too! Up the Irons! \m/
The bass player is killing it! Kudos to the parents. This kids were raised right!
for "killing it" on megadeth bass you have to play with a pick
@@nicolasherman6487 Way cooler and harder with fingers
That song is challenging for veteran players. Now imagine being 16, in front of your whole ass school.
Great job kids. Great job.
They're already on the Mount Rushmore or about to get there in terms of song difficulty
What're they gonna be doing for the rest of their lives lol
The only difficult part is the solo which is insanely hard ngl, but yeah they're good
At 16 I would have screwed up Every Rose Has It's Thorns if I had tried to play it in front of the school. I got over that, but at that age I would have bombed
Damn Right i thought they did really well being kids
1987 James Hetfield is scared of that guitarist's down picking skills.
'87 Hetfield isn't scared of anybody.
@@StuPedassolYeah, no one that drunk is!
@@johnjjohningtoniii2439xD
Yeah I’m sure after multiple times touring the world to that point in his career, and in 1987 after Master of Puppets -where they blew Ozzy off the stage every night - that he couldn’t pull this off at all.
You guys aren't getting it. Here opens up the song at between 160-170bpm with 16th notes. Watch the lead guitarists right hand. The only time he isn't down picking every note is during the solo.
If anyone was wondering: the original song is at 196
Drummer starts counting somewhere between 188-192, and the guitarist bumped it up to about 220!!
HOLY CRAP. The bassist is killing it.
I don't wanna sound too melodramatic here, but I actually shed a tear watching this. My heart is full knowing there are kids out there like this.
Same. I'm less and less worried about this generation all the time.
Are you stupid or something. I mean sorry you need a video for knowing that? I'm 19 years old and one of my goal is to sweep and shred on guitar
There’s plenty of us out there that are like this.
Yes, me too. They give me hope!
Holy shit they’re all killer. The guitar kid is ssssssoooooo talented. I think he was just nervous and full of adrenaline and constantly bringing himself back down and then getting an adrenaline rush again, over and over. I get that way when I’m nervous with anything. Not just guitar. When he gets some experience and calmer, he will slay the competition. Wow. They’re all so good, the drummer, bassist, singer, all of them.
There are 2 guitar players...
The bassist is a stand out for sure. I am pretty sure Ellefson uses a pick, so playing finger style is really cool and his licks added a lot to the song
This is what Megadeth would sound like if Marcus Groskopf replaced Dave Ellefson 😂
Well, Ellefson was adequate with both but used a pick because of how it sounds better
Dave's unruly voice is part of what makes megadeath the absolute best imo
Great work here though
As a fellow student of the Archie Williams High School Music class, everyone in this band are such amazing people and an inspiration for me. watching these kids play at such a skillful level and getting internet recognition is incredible and truly deserving of them.
y'all are amazing!!!
Thanks Finn
I love seeing the youngsters rocking the classic
They LOOK like a 90s high school band! Phenomenally tight
Yes, and that's NOT a good thing. The 90s were 30 fookin' years ago. These kids weren't even close to being born. You're NOT supposed to look and act like your parents and grandparents in the Rock-n-Roll world, much less Metal. Zoomers are simply devoid of creativity and originality. "Never trust anyone over 30", remember?
It’s ridiculous. Most high school bands have maybe 1 talented kid. Mayybe 2. But for them all be this good? It’s almost unbelievable.
I wonder how big their school is. It was almost impossible for my high school band to just find a drummer at all 😂
The kids are alright. 😎
I see what you did there 👍
You damn rights! Gotta give love to them sprouts. We're the ones who influence them afterall.
Ha!
💪🏼💀🇺🇸
A man of culture!
I think you’re spot on… mistakes are part of live music, and it’s not really whether you make a mistake or not, it’s what you do next that counts and this band nailed it. To be fair of course it’s harsh even calling them mistakes, minor wobbles in a tough track that we all know inside and out (to listen to, most of us can’t play it!) because it’s so iconic.
I’m totally late to commenting but I’m the girlfriend of the main guitarist and a friend of the singer and they were both nervous and actually killed it you can hear me screaming in the beginning haha. This is for a class at our school which is even crazier then a talent show.Y’all so awesome thank you for the love!
I'm an old guy who plays professionally and teaches music. This was fantastic! Thank you.
Love the description of the post gig feeling.
It’s also cool to hear a crowd that will give a soloist some love during the song, this was a pretty hip crowd.
Bassist playing fingerstyle like a fucking boss! I do the same thing on this one, but I've been playing bass since January 2001. While this guy probably has a couple years under his belt. I am very impressed!
This is awesome! Congrats on 867k Subscribers! How funny that I sent you a video of high schoolers playing last night as well. I believe that was an original song though. I'm definitely impressed with the singer, love how she's singing it. She seems super relaxed and groovin', and she knows the words, I don't think I can see her reading from anything. They looked super happy at the end, love that. Damn, i'm impressed with all these kids. I'm feeling pretty good and actually quite inspired by them watching this🙂
Ehh..the singer is shite, period! Understanding the exceptional time and effort the rest of the band has spent getting this good at their instruments, and then they bring along someone who cant even sing...must have been a massive shortage of vocalist at the time. Sorry, don't hate her, but her ambitions are larger then her skills! It's like hearing Drake trying to cover Freddy Mercury (Queen). 🙂
I saw this video a little while ago. Definitely a great cover, bassist is my favourite here, look at how fluently he plays everything.
Thanks!
Yeah he is extremely proficient and seemed more relaxed . The Drummer needs a better Kit but did a hell of a Job with what he has !! All around Impressive the whole band . Singer needs some more projection in her voice and more Bite for this style of music but she was very good as well . Better then my 1st band but we practiced alot after we were DENIED to play Holy Diver in the HS talent show they wouldn't even let us play Rainbow in the Dark . So being POed Gen-X kids , in about a Month we were doing 3 - 35 to 40 min. sets at Local Bars and Teen clubs where we really shined and worked our Individual talents out !!!
Great voice, really full of character & the band are smokin’
That kids hero is DEFINITELY Geddy lol. I'd like to hear him try and sing.. except the girl upfront was killing it! I bet she can do Rush pretty well too
She doesn't WANT to share the LIMELIGHT! ;o)
Sadly I can only do 1/3 of geddy
The band is called Ready for Geddy and yeah they do a rush cover…bass player completely kills it.
@@FranciscoRodriguez-ly9sothe commenter above you is the bass player
@@noahcasey3700dude sick bass playing you killed it. Also tell the rythym guitarist that he did great too no one is talking about how tight he was for some reason
Absolutely badass! For me, the only thing missing were some backing vocals. Everything else was VERY well done!
This is what we need!
Playing the guitar solo part of this song is no joke!!! *And that bass player kills!!! These kids rock!!!🔥🔥🔥🤘🔥🔥🔥
Great performance by these young musicians. You said they pulled off a very challenging song in front of an "audience" but it's an audience of their peer's! Which makes it 10x more difficult (IMHO) And... you are very special to help Show Case these kids! 😁
Awesome song choice and performance. Proud to be human with these people.
There is hope! The bassist and the drummer is so in to it! I love it!
Really good video take on a group of hard working, talented kids who covered a not-so-easy song.
This accuracy during this masterpiece made cry a little bit :)
If these guys were at my school back in the 90s, I would have made sure to hang around with them all the time! 😊
Hell, it would have gotten MY head punched in, back in the 80s!
are you a chick..?
MJ SOKOLIK I like how you didn't trash any of the players, they were awesome. Can't wait for move videos . I"m sure if Dave ,Marty, or Buckethead see this video they would be proud of how they got upon the stage and played their hearts out.
Man. I'm just happy (& relieved) the drummer killed it on this vid! LOL
Really dig your handle name!
That’s my nephew…
Thanks dude! Yours rocks 😎@@tone1798
@@MCXBkudos to your nephew! Awesome drummer!
I got a little emotional at the end. So proud of these guys. They are incredible 🎉
🤟🤟🤟🤟 Glad you watched it & did the vid. These kids are amazing & deserve all the praise!!
The next GFF? 🙂
The FUTURE of rock is in GOOD hands! \m/
I watched this the other night. These teenagers did an awesome job. The bass player is a fucking beast. The vocalist adds this desperation in her voice that fits the song perfectly. The rhythm guitarist flubbed a couple of times, but he will get it. The lead guitarist is beyond his years. If I could give any advise it would be to get creative with his scales at a higher BPM to work on his endurance. The drummer did an amazing job with the limited equipment. These five kids had me seeking the safety of an eye of a tornado, because they blew me away.
She is okay but often flat. A female voice doesn't really fit the song. But generally it was decent.
@@EbonyPope I agree she is flat in places, but that flatness plays into the emotion I felt during the performance. People feel music differently so that's what I felt. Technically you are correct, creatively if it works on some listeners then great, if not then that's ok too.
I love these vids... your comments are spot on. Funny, educating and smart. This band is really good, I used to teach kids to play in bands and I know all about it - you need to be dedicated. These kids are doing a great job
One of the few things good left in this world is music! Great job to the young folks here killing it. I would love to hear a version with proper mix levels from a studio.
Justice is served! (!!VERY WELL DONE!!)
Love the vocals!
They were genuinely fantastic! Bravo to them, not an easy song to pull off!
This brought some warmth to my old cold heart.. There is hope for the future of music!
The singer is great.
So impressive that at 2:01 a guitar falls from fainting on stage right ( to our left behind the fender amp, oh wait it's all fender amps!!) :) Went to see a bar band this weekend, Metal Covers, the guitarist pulled his cable out just before a solo cause he didn't do the wrap around trick! Thanks Mike!
This video is a perfect example of why a solid rhythm section is so important. Great stuff!
I watched that video a few days ago .. I am very impressed with their performance. This is a very difficult song to play and I think they did a fantastic job with it.
Glad I'm not the only one that thought the rhythm section was tight, well done Young Uns!
Edit: Also, the Rhythm guitarist hair is fricking epic, love it!
Glad you mentioned the guitar cable through the strap thing. 😂 That caught my attention right away.
These guys are amazing! And they are just getting started! I hope they keep playing together!!!!
Wow, very impressive! Compared to where I was at skill wise in high school, these kids really have a future. Brightened my day to see young'ns doing so well!
And can we all pitch in and buy that guitar player a boost pedal?! :)
I watched that a couple of days ago.The vocals were the best part for me just sef's kiss
that's mee thank you 🥹
Jeff's Kiss to her and the entire band! ^_^ Everyone was fantastic. I wish my band was this good at their age! lol
I remember seeing the original video, they were badass, great reaction!!
They have a great teacher teaching them that down pic strokes man..... Kids ard gonna be good if they keep it up . Hell I still remember my talent show in 93. Bells and Sandman lol
Some really talented kids, they did great!
I love the energy between lead guitarist and bassist.
Lead guitarist after fumbling: "Don't worry bro I got this"
Bassist, looking at him: "Don't worry bro you got this"
Both: *nod when it goes back to normal*
Beautiful
choosing TOS plus the solo as a highschool band to play reminds me of myself trying to do a satch piece for my first show. only difference is that i failed most miserably
I'm so glad that they're going viral, I remember when I found their video when it had like 200 views and was confused why it wasn't getting more attention
Thst feeling of nerves when you get on the stage, and at the final bars you dont want it to end. On top of the world 🌎 great job band
I’m so glad you did this video. I saw the video a few days ago trying to see how other people played it and as soon as I saw the thumbnail I clicked instantly
Dude I JUST watched that video the other day and the first thing I thought was that this would be a great video for you to use! The drummer, bassist, and lead guitarist did really well.
Impressive! I was in high school when this song came out, I love that this music is still standing strong for this generation.
Best vocals ever on this song
There is still hope, for this generation....
Amazing first guitar and bass. . Two thumbs up to you guys
Yes the Drummer is really amazing.
We're gonna be OK folks. Wow. Bright future in music
Their lack of nervousness is likely able to be credited to either their current band teacher or a former one. I attribute my complete unfamiliarity with stage fright in pretty much any context to a series of great band directors. We were pushed starting in 4th grade to perform and even take solo parts. My when I first joined a school band our director went way out of his way to get as many kids as possible to play an excerpt from our method book as a solo at every performance. They know they're good, they know that mistakes are best out in the open where you can learn from them.
I had tears in my eyes watching this cover the other day. Like a proud Dad.
I love this type of music. Hendrix, Metallica, megadeth, I’m playing same song. Amazing. I love all type of that genre
Imagine being the high school music teacher for any of these kids... you'd have to wonder who actually teaches who. :D
I’m their teacher. Only little comments here and there but they are great to work with. Super proud of them :)
they all pass the vibe check
And they slay 🤘🤘
This was AMAZING for high school kids WOW
You would love Ren and the big push's busking performances. Charisma off the charts.
Holy S***! Wow they are tight!
Everything was sharp, sounded good, and That drum break was absolutely insane...
As a fan of the teen brother band Hammerhedd, I truly am impressed. Hammerhedd are brothers, so because they've grown up together they know each others que's. Theses kids aren't siblings and they have it down. Kudos!
Way better than I ever was!
I actually got choked up a little bit on this. It's one of my favorite songs from Megadeth. I love seeing younger people explore the boundaries of life. I'm 56 years old. I would love to see metal move into the mainstream again. I was very pleased with the performance here. Bravo! I'm going to watch it again and try not to get choked up this time.
wonderful review!
i saw the video of this kids last week, they did an awesome work… 🍀🍀🍀
You analiazing this video will change humanity forever. Thank you.
Damn, they're good ! What a cover ! To think that kids this young can play so well in front of an audience, that's great ! I hope they will keep it up !
I especially appreciated the lead guitar player, but of course they were all great. Also, I loved that genuine smile on the singer's face. You know she enjoyed every last second of the performance and that she was so happy to be there !
guitar guy? Hi from Bavaria, stay with it!!! Don't make the mistake I did, quit doing what you love, it's very hard to catch fire again if you get older. You rock! 😊🤘The whole band! You guys just gave me so much hope 🤧😇
These kids killed it, well done! This is a really hard song.
There is hope for the future after all!
very tight band, great musicians, super impressed!!!
OMG. That was really good and really joy to watch . Thanks
"Damn that kids going off!"
"Which one?"
"Yes." 🤘
Just to bare your soul on stage in high school is a pretty commendable thing!
Hey I'm a bassist so I'm blown away by this kid on bass but the whole band is awesome. I gotta draw attention to that rhythm guitarists. They were awesome and held down the song.
Much respect for the downstrokes.James INSISTED on it back in the day.I bet current day James is ok with alternate picking.
The bass player and drummer are really, really good together, and separately.
Those kids must have cool parents.
It's one thing to play in front of a big crowd of people you don't know but it's on a different level when it's people that you see every day and they nailed it 🤘.
God I love that song.... they did great. It's awesome to see people their age into older music. There's always music playing at work and I love to ask people what band is playing.... so often I get a response along the lines of "oh that's before my time."
You could tell me this was filmed in 1993 and I'd believe you!
