I have had a pair of JBL L-112s since the mid-eighties. I can't even imagine listening to anything else at this point.

After listening to them in a hifi shop I've bought a pair of these to replace my Dali Spektor 2's for my apartments tiny living room. They sound absolutely fantastic connected to my Cambridge Audio CXA81 amplifier. Teamed them up with my trusty old JVC subwoofer for a tiny bit of extra bass and I don't think I'll be looking for other speakers for a very long time.
I love the sound they produce and they match very well with the type of music I am listening to.

Hello Sands, yes, L52 Classic is a fine speaker and doesn't require a state of the art amp to drive them as a bonus. We're glad you're digging it

I love the JBL L52. But I went with the better GoldenEar BRX. Apple Music

Love my L100 Classics. Run them with my Marantz 4300. Setting it up in Quad again amd looking for a set of rears without spending another 4 grand

Thanks Rock, "setting it up in Quad again" - love it, retro as all heck!

You're an excellent host! Class G is new to me, as is JBL making amps. Definitely learned something new today. But doesn't that foam mess with the clarity?

The foam is sonically transparent. Not an issue.

I am new to hifi.. and tend to be an ignoramus at times. Would it be advisable to create a home theatre out of a pair of L82 plus pair of L52? Toss in a sub… what recommendations for center if i did this? I LOVE the way these speakers look.

Hi William, we love getting more folks involved in this fun hobby, so welcome! Yes, the retro look is really cool and thus these sell pretty well! L82 in the front with L 52 as rears would work well. You might consider an L 52 in the center, as the look would stay consistent.

My old Yamaha CR400 amp has this specs:
    continuous performance
    8 Ohm: 2x 20 Watt
    4 Ohm: 2x 24 Watt
    dynamic performance
    8 Ohm: 2x 56 Watt
    4 Ohm: 2x 76 Watt
Will this be okay for the speakers? I will not hear them too loud, but I am worried about the rather low sensitivity.

From reviews it seems you'll need a pretty powerful amp. I have a Cambridge Audio CXA81 which easily drives them. And it stays pretty cool too. But it is rated for 2x80 Watt with 8 Ohm, and 2x120 Watt for 4 Ohm speakers. I do keep the volume low as I am living in a small apartment with thin walls.

I was just wondering the same. I just got a Marantz 2030 and was wondering if there would work for my setup?

Those are retailing for 1000USD and then they need to be made in China. Kind of sad. Not enough profits to be made.
