    Hola Cafe con Leche!! I'm just getting to see your latest video and to my surprise, you featured the neighborhood I'm currently visiting - Las Americas!! I love it here so far!! I'm Jamaican and you're both the main reason I decided to make Merida my home base in Mexico as I test the digital nomad lifestyle. I'm almost 2 weeks in. I've been following your adventures since day 1. I would love to meet up if that's possible.

    I hate to say this… but within a year or so people will be paying 9 or 10% interest mortgage payments on a close to a million USD loans. Social Security payments don’t even pay for rent anymore. You have to start thinking outside the box my friends!

    Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and opinions. I will be coming to Merida with my wife, young son and our dog. We will be driving there and will have a car. I am wondering what recommendations you have for finding a long term rental. We are considering Temezon Norte. We have read the comments in various groups about issues with dealing with agents, scams and other problems one can face when looking for a rental. Also, wondering how you handle the heat when a/c can be very expensive as I understand. Much appreciated and thanks again!

    Definitely not my cup of tea when comparing to other areas of Merida, but to each his own. Flooding is a real problem in some spots of Las Americas because there's nowhere for the water to go. A woman was electrocuted a couple of years ago by touching a power pole while standing in flood waters, tragic. Oh, you just mentioned the flooding. Sorry, I comment while watching :) - Anne

    • @milyrussi7980
      @milyrussi7980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      amazon delivers in all mexico, and we do have amazon prime, but you will probably find different movies and tv shows

    • @TravelWTravis
      @TravelWTravis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! We use a service called Traveling Mailbox to keep an address in the States and they scans/email us any mail we get, and can ship packages as well (bit.ly/ccltravelingmailbox).
      The local mail service in Mexico can be hit or miss, so if we do send anything, we use FedEx or DHL, which are more reliable. There is Amazon in Mexico, but there isn't Prime - but we've gotten used to not having things delivered overnight. (Although there are tons of great local delivery apps like Rappi where you can have food/groceries/literally anything delivered in bigger cities).

    I LOVE MEXICO, traveled a dozen states. It’s not bad in Las Americas VI. It wasn’t bad at all, it was very new. I found it to be clean and the conveniences were amazing, the houses make businesses out of there homes, so you can find butchers, laundry drop off, all kinds of food. Yes, you need a car and it is convenient to the beach and into Merida centro. Supermarkets are all around and are good. There are stray dogs or neighborhood dogs that lay out in center of the streets and tease the dogs behind their home gates, it can get noisy. That is to be expected when so close. I couldn’t get used to the bars on the windows, feels like a prison inside and everyone has them there. Overall option for budget it isn’t bad at all.

      I do find that the immense communities are a bit overwhelming. However, I remember riding my motorcycle around Mexico, and seeing some that I thought would be very nice. If you're going to be in your house, having a small yard, maybe with a pool, modern design and air conditioning are all lovely to have. I'd still prefer all of that with early retirement, to working to my 60s full of rage and disappointment in the US.

    Looks like a huge New Orleans cemetery painted white. Needs a lot more trees or else it'll bake in the sun. Much prefer the color and variety and greenery of centro but that's one person's taste.
