I battled it earlier tonight and it took everything I had just to keep Alex alive long enough to deal the last bit of damage to kill it. Surprisingly, Nash was extremely helpful with his strongest weapon equipped. He didn't QUITE do as much damage as a Cascade Litany'd Alex, but that (approximately) 120 damage he was doing still helped a lot.
I tells ya, though... the Black Dragon fight in the original? FUCK ME, that is a hard fight. He took out Kyle with surprisingly little effort. I only survived cause I had the foresight to equip Mia and Nash with Herbs of Althena.
In defense of the Mega CD/Sega CD version, let's NOT forget the GAmeboy Advance remake of Lunar 1which was even EASIER than ever...it's probably why we never got a GBA remake of Lunar 2. (Instead, we got a crappy DS sidestory in Lunar Genesis/Dragon Song.) Adding in those fake-me-out Limit Breaks & getting Nash at the very beginning of the game only made it ridiculously easy. I do hope the upcoming PSP remake doesn't make these kinds of mistakes...

This was the first RPG I played back in mid-1994. Got the PS1 and PSP versions, but sold the Sega CD version.

Agreed. There were a couple of hard parts, but yeah, generally the PSX version? WAYYYYY tougher.
