So I work at Legoland NY & it’s legit such a fun job. I work in the photography department & I love it so much. Plus I did get engaged in Miniland so yeah, it’s a special place to me 🤣 I know this video is from 2021 but for anyone wondering, we have been fixing the shade issue by putting in more shaded areas for people to cool down during the summer. They also have water stations at the Coke refill stations for guests to use for free! Plus we just opened our new Water Playground plus they’re adding even more fun for everyone, like a new boat swing ride in Lego City. There is also the Miniland Hub, which makes for walking to certain areas a bit easier. They are constantly improving & it’s just awesome to see. I’m not just saying that because I work there, it is genuinely great to see them listen to guest feedback. Hopefully y’all can come visit Legoland NY! 😊
As the biggest Legoland Florida fan in the world (yeah I’m a nerd), I think this park looks great. It could use a few more rides, but the Dragon and Factory rides seem fantastic.
My friend went there recently and said he had a lot of fun. Some of the rides look fun, and the minilands in Florida and California have never disappointed me, so I'm excited to visit!
Went there today (August 2nd, 2021) and had to wait an hour and a half for the Coast Guard Academy ride, which is only a 2 minute ride. Most of the other popular rides had at least 45 min wait times. Part of the problem is 1 person will wait in line then let 10 members in their family in. Also didn't like to $27 parking fee they hit you with on the way out.
The real issue is that when I go there it is under staffed, some rides are broken, none of the soda or ice machines work right, and some of the staff are not well trained.
That line was really long. My brother and dad waited a long time for it. We went on Friday and most of the lines were shorter than when we went back on Saturday.
True the 27 dollar parking is bull. Plus the 16 dollars they charge for a beer, Crazy. The place can be something nice. Fix the landscape( add plants, mulch, flowers and an irrigation) to make it more inviting.
I could see this park add more rides in the upcoming years, such as a mack wild mouse, and thrill water rides (like a log flume or a small shoot the chutes)
I say so, like maybe a waterpark area and a sealife aquarium and more coasters like other parks like California. I mean California didn't have those when it first started but over time it did (keep in mind that California is like 22 years old while NY is just a month)
@@djk6297 I'm from the area and even had them come to my high school to talk to us for job opportunities. One student asked about the potential of a waterpark and they said that there were 0 plans because it would only be able to be open 2-3 months out of the year and they just didn't see it as profitable to do it like that.
This review was AAMMAZZING. I'm super excited to go t Legoland NY with my family. And this review really helped me plan what we should do 1st, what we should bring and sooo much more. Thank you sooo much for this. It's exactly what i needed.
Great video! We visited on one of the very first preview weekends, so it's great to see some of the areas that we didn't get to see then! Looking forward to visiting again!
My dad and I talked to a lot of people while there and it sounds like a lot more is open than when they previewed it. The big thing we didn't get to do is the fire engine ride. It was closed on Friday and half of Saturday, but most of the other rides were open.
@@frozenunicorn6478 yes! We returned from a weekend trip there about a week ago, and it was a whole lot more fun than the rainy preview day we had. This time pretty much all rides and attractions were open! The Fire Academy is actually one of our favorites! We did it on Friday and Saturday! The entire experience was lots of fun!
Great review, pretty much my exact thoughts on the park. Despite a couple small issues here or there, I was impressed by their offerings for such a new park. I do personally prefer Legoland Florida for its coaster lineup and the gardens, but Legoland NY is not far behind and is a welcome change of pace for Northeastern parks.
As someone who lives in the area, there's not much of a point to go to Legoland when you have better options within 1-3 hours away. You can get to Great Wolf Lodge, Six Flags Great Adventure, Sesame Place, and Hershey Park from Goshen New York without the car trip being too long. Also, the Professor Brick Ride keeps breaking down and they have to evacuate passengers. Not a day went by when I didn't hear them talk about a ride breaking down. I swear, a ride broke down every hour.
That ride opened late for me and the same happened to someone else who went a week before me. I hope they get the kinks ironed out! I do prefer this park to Sesame Place and Great Wolf Lodge. And I think it's a better option for kids than Great Adventure or Hersheypark (I prefer these parks as a thrill-seeker though).
I am soo excited! I am going there tom! And me and my sister were shocked to see our dad in the video hahaha! You will find him on the very left at 39 sec!
Have you been to lost island ? I’m actually prefer dark rides to coasters. The sally ride out there has me intrigued. Lego factory ride was impressive. Hershey needs something similar chocolate themed
I'd love to see a Lego Island area (Bricolini's Pizza already seems inspired by it), or a bigger coaster added, as when I went to the Florida park back in 2012 I was already too big for half the rides, but I'd love to check this park out sometime, as it's not too far from me actually haha.
Looking at the footage it looks really well themed! I mean outside of the many theme parks in Florida & California, it maybe the best themed park in the country if you exclude those two states. I mean is there any others I’m missing? It would be cool if Merlin did do more parks in the US as parks like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park look so cool and well kept.
We're considering bringing our boys there in early september, one is 7 the other is 5 - do you think the vast majority of the rides and experiences would be good for children that age? Neither are really enthusiastic about the idea of roller coasters or other thrill rides. Thank you, and great video!
That is the perfect age! I am 9 and my brother is 6. We loved it! Lots of awesome experiences besides the rides, and they had rides for all ages. The biggest ride was The Dragon roller coaster, and it was a pretty small rollercoaster compared to most parks. Here is our review if you want to learn more -> th-cam.com/video/OTYJiEAQ5ok/w-d-xo.html
Just visited for 2 days. All the free water fountains work now so that was a huge plus. Staff still super friendly but walked like 5 miles in a park that's no where near that big lol. pushing stroller around is a pain when cant use stair shortcuts. new hub in middle of the hill might help and new water area is under construction but far from being completed. that would of been great
Looks like a nice Legoland. That current shade condition is super yucko tho. One of my biggest gripes with parks is no shade. Hopefully those trees do the trick.
i really wish if Merlin & the Government of Canada could built a whole Legoland amusement park that comes to Canada instead of another Legoland Discovery Center & making this Legoland another great amusement park in Canada just like Canada's Wonderland, Calgary Park, La Ronde (Canada's Only Six Flags Park) & even the PNE in Vancouver
Big thank you for the water bottle tip, I went today and your recommendation there was a lifesaver. Especially since I didn't want to pay for parking so I parked at a free lot in town. As for the park itself I grew up as a Puzz 3D kid as opposed to a lego kid but the mini cities they have certainly appeal to me as that's what you do with Puzz 3D. Speaking of which, I recognise that a lot of effort goes into the sets they have so I actually don't think the price tag is all that gross if you're using a discount code. The lego factory dark ride sort of makes me think a combination of the chocolate world dark ride (theme) and Spiderman at Islands of Adventure (vehicles). As for the coasters, Dragon is fun, I like that they have the dark ride section and the coaster section. Dragon's Apprentace on the other hand, the park could have done so much better given the horrific operations I saw. To be clear, not the ride ops fault, it's Merlin's fault or someone in upper management that sets rules like how operations are done. Even if they were set on a ride like that with putrid capacity (even more so with one of the rows closed for who knows why) they could que the next group of people up for their rows and measure kids for the next cycle during the ride cycle, they don't. Because of how they were dispatching they were doing upwards of 5 minute dispatches. Comparing it to other parks marketed towards kids I personally prefer Quassy and Dutch Wonderland because I like the old school flat rides those parks have which feature some surprises like the island at Dutch Wonderland or one of the dragons from Whalom Park on Quassy's caroucel (I grew up watching a PBS documentary called Great Old Amusement Parks, was sad to learn what happened to Whalom 2 years after filming but happy to see at least one dragon still around). Speaking of those parks, that gets to what I think Legoland NY needs most; a family wooden coaster that will provide surprisingly good airtime. And we know more is coming to the park seeing the construction on the hill, I wouldn't be surprised if they did something like that and took advantage of the terrain.
Awesome! My brother and I loved it! We stayed in the Lego Friends room but saw them cleaning the Pirate room and it was awesome. And outside of The Dragon ride, the Pirate area had my favorite things.
I went in August of 2021 and froze two bottles of water for my niece and I and we used the refill stations as we went; I was SO glad I did it was like 90 plus degrees so we always had cold water. We still had fun but it was exhausting. The annoying part was not knowing that you had to pay for parking there were zero signs saying so coming in or when I bought the tickets.
That's a smart strategy! I'm glad the water fountains were turned on when you went. They were still off due to covid for me. The way Legoland does parking is how the European amusement parks handle it, which makes sense given that Merlin mostly owns European parks.
I went in August and the park has a lot of issues, many related to staffing problems. Several rides were closed throughout the 2 days I was there with my family, and also many food vendors were closed, leaving the ones that were open with longer lines and crowds. Honestly it still feels like the park and hotel are in "preview" status. The hotel pool is still closed and a lot of guests have had problems with getting in to their rooms on time, some waiting hours for their room to be ready. I personally don't think it's fair for them to charge full price for this experience as it is currently, but I do think it will improve and I plan on returning to hopefully have a better experience at another time later in the season or next year.
Seeing “New York” under Legoland and not “California” is tripping me out. Had no idea they opened one here. Hope it’s successful. Also, I think Hersheypark is still the best park for kids in that area.
It would be interesting to see if they could possibly expand the park and make an "adult section" of the park where there is like one massive thrill roller coaster but I highly doubt that would happen because LegoLand is a family them park
Also, besides the lack of shade, our other complaint was that the walking paths were so long and there weren't shortcuts between the different areas. Besides that, we LOVED the park as it has so much to do. We will definitely be pushing our parents to bring us back again. We stayed in the Lego Friends room and will try the Kingdom room next time.
You missed one store in there. There's a custom minifigure shop that is in the minifigure rides and you can create your own custom minifigures as well. Also great news the lego stores are now doing again or at least the one near my house where you get to build your own custom minifigures again!
Was there with the wife and kids this past Sunday. Has potential, needs a little more added to it. It was hot, I do not see any shade any time soon. How do you plant trees and grass with nooo water irrigation?!? Everything was dying. The place looked beat up without some green grass lush plants and trees. No flowers for color. The lines were too long for the ride system they have(45-70 mins wait). Guest should’ve had been able to hop on and hop off fast, must’ve been understaff. Also 16 bucks for cup of coors light?!? Nutz! If they fix these things, I can see my self and the family going back and even spending a night at the hotel.
Fun fact for anyone watching in 2022 and beyond: The Plural form of Lego bricks is Lego, not Legos. That's why I refer to Lego peices as Lego pieces or Lego.
yall forgetting about legoland in downtown disney. (or however it's called recently, it changes every so often) But while not a hole themepark it was def the first and my first experience with lego outside of building sets at home x3
@@CanobieCoaster Yeah, besides the one in Denmark, obv official (I’m Srry if I mistook the country) I believe the Florida one came first with success. I’m glad it only got better from there bc I just watched other vids on them, I rlly rlly want to go now to a few, specifically the one in NY now!
after watching this video i could feel the lack of trees in the open space. unlike legoland malaysia looks dense. but in new york provides more rides i guess... 👍🏽👍🏽
I mean if you compare it to Legoland Windsor (which is vastly superior in lineup, overall experience and the tickets are only 40 dollars and it's not like the area is short of some pretty good competition
Ever since I saw they were building this I was excited to take my son. We're going next month, but gotta say it looks underwhelming. For the price of a 2 night stay at the hotel and passes to the park for two days, I expected more rides and not so much grassy area. Reminds me of the zoo in Akron, Ohio that has a bit too much land dedicated to landscaping.
The lines are very long because there really isn't too much do, the park is big acre wise but not activity wise, so be prepared walk quite a big distance between lands. This is a great park, but not a park that is enjoyable for bigger crowds.
All of the water refill stations were open this weekend!!! The temp is not cold at all, but when you're thirsty, who cares lol. This place is a lot of fun. My family and I enjoyed the entire experience. Bring chargers for your phones because you will be taking LOTS of pictures. The firetruck ride was awesome!!! I laughed the entire time and got yelled at for not pumping fast and hard enough rofl. The food at the Smokey's Brick BBQ was amazing. The price is hefty, but you get so much food. GET THE SMOKED BBQ BRISKET BAKED BEANS (drooling)
Lets have a "build & test area" yet still have the drinking fountains shut off.... I'm sorry but amusement parks and the greedy industry that runs them needs to TURN ON THE WATER FOUNTAINS!!!! Someone needs to get heat stroke and sue them so this bullshit ends...
I went to a preview event back in may when the pirate and city areas weren't open yet, and just went back a couple days ago. It was good. Yes, lack of shade is an issue, but it was just built and trees don't grow to adult overnight. There were some electrical issues with the miniland, leading to some things not working, and the issues relate to the environment cause NY is a different environment than FL and CA. It has winter, thus it's seasonal vs the others that are in fair weather areas where they can be open year-round. There are also differences between themes that relate to what rides there are in the different parks, mainly due to the age (example: CA has been around since 1999 and has themes present at the time, like an Indiana Jones-theme adventure rides vs NY that doesn't). There's much more I can say but I'd rather not have this comment to go on for so long.
But they could add more shade or have transported other more mature trees. My complaint is that some rides are broken, soda and ice machines don’t work, and some rides are really under staffed.
It's parks like this that make you wish you were still a kid. But there is one thing this park doesn't have that I think it should and that's The Lego Movie World.
I'm undoubtedly biased as I grew up going to Legoland California, but to me the New York park just doesn't look to have quite the same level of charm. There looks to be a lot more empty space here, a lot fewer Lego gimmicks scattered around the pathways, and the park just doesn't seem to have as many attractions (even compared to opening day of the California park). I will say that the Lego Factory Adventure does look quite impressive, but beyond that there isn't anything else that looks particularly worthwhile. Hopefully the park will grow with time and in a few years it might be more worth checking out.
Really the only area that felt super empty to me was that hill between Castle and Ninjago. The other areas felt fine to me, but I would like to see some shade added.
This was not our family's experience at all. 1hr+ wait times for all rides, severely understaffed, very poor quality food. The theming was nice but the rest of the experience was poor - as my son said, "This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in."
I went it this place yesterday and I was to scared to ride the that dragon roller coaster but my younger sister was not scared and my dad told me to go on so I did and I liked the roller coaster
tbh i dont like this park it feels empty and i think it is overpriced i hope the benelux legoland is going to be diferent and more like the older parks
@@CanobieCoaster i hope so bc if you llokm at the other parks the dragon coasters are mostly above grass but in new york it is not and i really mis some trees on and around the paths but the park it self looks nice but it really needs more landscaping and nature
this place sucks big time. All lines are 80+ minutes wait. And I went on a Wednesday. water is $4.99 for a 16oz Dasani. $15 was the least expensive beer. The workers are like all special Ed program workers. All you do is stand on line all day.

That's a smart strategy! I'm glad the water fountains were turned on when you went. They were still off due to covid for me. The way Legoland does parking is how the European amusement parks handle it, which makes sense given that Merlin mostly owns European parks.
Thanks for this video! Super helpful.
You're welcome!
I wonder where else we would see another Legoland
Maybe the midwest or Texas?
That's a bummer. I had no issue with staffing on a weekday in July.
Nickelodeon Universe is in the North East too, so there's been at least couple new parks to open in recent years
True!
Great Review!
Thanks!
I want to go here but I want to know if these rides are truly frightening as that’s what I’m looking for.
Dragon is the most intense, but it's not too crazy. I have a separate review on that one that goes into more detail.
@@CanobieCoaster ok thanks
I used to play with legos when I was younger but never went to one of these parks but let me say, I would of loved one of these places as a child.
I wish this were here when I was a child.
Seeing “New York” under Legoland and not “California” is tripping me out. Had no idea they opened one here. Hope it’s successful. Also, I think Hersheypark is still the best park for kids in that area.
Hershey is a fair one, but I'd pick Story Land or Dutch Wonderland over Hershey as well.
I’ve gone to both herseyland and legoland, legoland is definitely better in my opinion
It would be interesting to see if they could possibly expand the park and make an "adult section" of the park where there is like one massive thrill roller coaster but I highly doubt that would happen because LegoLand is a family them park
I doubt that happens as well, but as a thrill seeker I'd love it.
Two days to do this park you think? Thank for making this!
1 full day is sufficient in my opinion.
If they fill in the walkways more, it'll be less noticeable.
Nah. Not “there weren’t shortcuts.” /
You missed one store in there. There's a custom minifigure shop that is in the minifigure rides and you can create your own custom minifigures as well. Also great news the lego stores are now doing again or at least the one near my house where you get to build your own custom minifigures again!
Oh nice!
The shade is my biggest issue.
Fun fact for anyone watching in 2022 and beyond: The Plural form of Lego bricks is Lego, not Legos. That's why I refer to Lego peices as Lego pieces or Lego.
Cool, thanks!
I wish Legoland had more for adults
At least the rides can accommodate adults comfortably so you can ride with kids.
@@CanobieCoaster very true. The park itself looks impressive with theming and landscaping so I may have to visit.
yall forgetting about legoland in downtown disney. (or however it's called recently, it changes every so often) But while not a hole themepark it was def the first and my first experience with lego outside of building sets at home x3
That's a cool place, but not a true theme park.
I've been to the Florida one but this looks better I think
I think so.
after watching this video i could feel the lack of trees in the open space. unlike legoland malaysia looks dense. but in new york provides more rides i guess... 👍🏽👍🏽
At least they planted trees for the future.
Man, thats pricey! A season pass to Six Flags is about the same price as a kids ticket, mand the season pass includes parking.
Six Flags is shockingly cheap to admission for the year.
I mean if you compare it to Legoland Windsor (which is vastly superior in lineup, overall experience and the tickets are only 40 dollars and it's not like the area is short of some pretty good competition
Dang Legoland Florida opened in 2012 that's literally when I went lol
Wow!
@@CanobieCoaster I remember going opening month. I was 7 or 8 and loved it.
@@ThemeParkAvenue oh we are the same age then lol
@@ThemeParkAvenue I was 8 almost 9
@@chargedonpc9989 cool!
Seeing this park made me happy. lol completely unexpected. They did a great job
Sure did.
I hope they keep expanding it.
I wanna go dude
It's fun.
Going tomorrow morning can’t wait hopefully it’s not too hot
Enjoy!
Nah. Not disabled. It’s not in use. The water fountain at that time are not in use. /
Still? Aw man!
Is it worth it for real
For kids, yes.
I had such a great time here 👍🥰
Great!
The lines are very long because there really isn't too much do, the park is big acre wise but not activity wise, so be prepared walk quite a big distance between lands. This is a great park, but not a park that is enjoyable for bigger crowds.
That's fair.
Good to know about the BBQ.
NGL I wish one was in Texas. It would be great for the central states and I think an area like Austin or Houston needs an amusment park
It would work in many markets.
I do find it frustrating.
I agree the shade will be worked on.
They have land to expand!
That's a bummer. When did you visit? Most people I know had modest waits including myself.
Legoland new york looks like it has alot of empty patches of grass and huge walkways which wohld never fill up
It would be nice if they fill them in.
@@CanobieCoaster i think legoland florida looks the best.
I went it this place yesterday and I was to scared to ride the that dragon roller coaster but my younger sister was not scared and my dad told me to go on so I did and I liked the roller coaster
It's a fun one.
$80.00 for Adults and $70.00 for Kids are you kidding me????, SO pricey and not worth, take my advice don't go there. it is not worth the money.
All the Legolands are expensive.
@@CanobieCoaster by Florida park standards, they’re pretty cheap and reasonable.
There are coupons for buy one adult ticket, get one kids ticket free. Search for coupon codes
Hey i wanted to know since im visiting Legoland New York this weekend. Are all the rides open?
Anchors Away was the only ride closed when I went.
Hey if I buy two adult tickets do I need to purchase two tickets for my kids also or they will be free ?
@@keshav5721 burger king has a coupon for every adult ticket you get a kid ticket for free
tbh i dont like this park it feels empty and i think it is overpriced i hope the benelux legoland is going to be diferent and more like the older parks
I imagine they'll add more.
@@CanobieCoaster i hope so bc if you llokm at the other parks the dragon coasters are mostly above grass but in new york it is not and i really mis some trees on and around the paths but the park it self looks nice but it really needs more landscaping and nature
Pretty soon this park needs more rides and thrilling coasters
I'd love to see the submarine ride or Lost Kingdom Adventure.
I have to disagree.Legoland Florida is better
I prefer this one and California.
Oh ok the main reason I say this is I live like less then an hour away from the florida one and I have passes there
No shade, no customer service; emailed them, Facebook them, no response.
That's a bummer you had bad interactions.
u sound like the guy from burger king foot lettuce
Oh!
this place sucks big time. All lines are 80+ minutes wait. And I went on a Wednesday. water is $4.99 for a 16oz Dasani. $15 was the least expensive beer. The workers are like all special Ed program workers. All you do is stand on line all day.
All the employees I met last year were friendly. I was lucky the park was quiet the day I visited.
FLORDIA is better
I prefer this one and California to Florida myself.
Not 99%. /
Sad the water fountains still aren't in use.
So kids and adults charge same lol what a joke
I can see why given the appeal of this park for kids.
Disgusting. I've always hated lego.
I enjoyed them growing up.
@@CanobieCoaster As a teen I liked their robots, very much - but that's pretty much it.
