I've noticed in other videos on this technique the artists are trying to paint with the spakle or plaster. You were using more of a sculpting technique. Much better results, I think, your work is beautiful!
That said, I'm curious about the longevity of the piece. The canvas with always be flexible, the plaster isn't. If the canvas is flexed by a bump or even someone touching it too forcefully, wouldn't the plaster crack and possibly fall off? I have seen this technique applied to sheet rock. It's a lot heavier but much more stable. Just a thought.
Use a modeling paste then I get flexible and tint if need be. Liquitex also has Stucco Medium and some other Sand type of mediums. Liquitex I know has it. I am sure Golden does too. Then you can count on it being archival. :)

Started this and used plaster of paris which drys to fast, should have gessoed first as all the paint and plaster peeled right off!! I love this so much I'm trying again, any tips??
hey can use any JOINT COMPOUND DRYWALL MUD. I use quick set mud, already mixed but it also comes in powder. A 5gallon container cost about $12-$16 depending on where they get it. Home Depot or Lowes in the USA or any hardware store.
