The train was a GP40, it started off as Penn Central 3118, then went into Conrail in 1976, keeping the same numbering until 1983 when it was sold to Denver and Rio Grande (D&RGW) renumbered as 3134, the locomotive spent the next 15 years being operated by D&RGW, Southern Pacific and Union Pacific, still in it's black and yellow stripe paint scheme from D&RGW until it was retired in 1999 and sold to the Santa Clarita Railroad (SCRX) and kept the same numbering and it's paint scheme, it was seen in some movies like "Hijack", "The Fast and The Furious" and even a short scene in "Lethal Weapon 4" The GP40 stayed with the SCRX until November 2004, when she was sold to the Southwestern Railroad for use on their new Carlsbad division in New Mexico. Today, she is still earning a living on the SouthWestern, working the many Potash trains and the occasional unit grain trains.
Oh I so want to get that railroad crossing diorama. I wonder if the locomotive scales with HO scale model trains. I kinda wonder if it would even be possible to turn that locomotive into a functional model along with the crossing.
I'm going to have to buy this, and then I'm going to have to figure out how to incorporate it into an ho scale layout. With some modifications. The freight car on the back is a center beam spline car. It's used to hall lumber.
It’s a pretty well done set for the money. It seems like a lot of people are going after the set for the train specifically too. That will be awesome to have it as part of an HO setup!
Kind of nice, but unnecessarily big for what it offers. I hope jada makes nano scene from other properties like Back to the future, batman, mad max, bullitt and probably do some racecars from that scale and add race track dioramas.
+1 for a Back to the Future train diorama! They also have a small Hollywood Blvd diorama coming out that looks pretty cool too. I’ll probably snag that one and the Jurassic Park one before it disappears from stores too.
@@64Wheels the Hollywood Blvd. looks cool, they could do different cities and add iconic cars for the city like NY with their yellow cabs or london with their cabs. As for the BTTF i'm thinking about more of the Hill Valley Courthouse, the Lyon Estates and the Mcfly house.
Man o man, i must've passed these F&F sets over a 100x.I finally gave in & picked up the Train nano scene & i absolutely love it as the original is my favorite of all the films! I'll most definitely be picking up the other 2!! Great review!!
Really nice set. I agree with basically all you said, and I think its biggest fault is quite easy to fix, as you can simply display it as it is presented in the box. Amazing review as always!
Fantastic review!!! Wow that train is like 2 feet long LOL!!! Cant wait to pick one up Heads up to people that missed out on the Toretto house diorama they are on sale at target for only $15 as of the date of this comment. I hope they make the Back to the future Dioramas I feel like that would make so much sense
Thanks!! I really, really hope they make a Back to the Future part 3 train diorama too! There’s several dioramas from F&F and BTTF that they could still make.
It already looks good inside the packaging. Even better when assembled but surprisingly too big to display for something that's nano. Looks great though. Waiting on mine from Amazon. Are those plastic stands underneath the cars removable?
Great looking set in the box - agree there! The stands are removable which is nice. I never noticed before but the nano cars I previously opened have the holes in the bases for the stands too, but I don’t know if every nano car has the stand holes.
This is quite an amazing set! I do like how they achieved the broken gate effect. I am slightly annoyed that the train wheels don't fit on the track properly, maybe having pivoting wheelsets and a better rail height would've made the train sit better. The train is smaller than HO scale, but I don't think it's to any model train scale, which is fine as it's meant to be a display piece.
That locomotive is a gp40 and it’s in the d&rgw paint scheme and I actually have an ho d&rgw gp30 locomotive but it doesn’t run anymore because the wires broke
I like the size of the set. I get what your saying for simple display purposes, but it's perfect for model/train set builders. It could totally be expanded upon for large dioramas wether related to F&F or not.
See I saw these and was annoyed. Because the house is closer to ho scale. And the cares are closer to n scale but they are not of the same scale. Frustratingly :(
Great Unboxing video. Appreciate the thoughts on it.

Hey Jada Toys! Have you ever thought about making a polar express diorama?
I really want to get this, Its nicely modeled and the GP40 and centerbeam are both decently accurate
The train is definitely one of the selling points of this set! They did a good job designing it and putting realism into it.

That’s a great history write-up on it! Cool to see that it’s still in use too!
@@64Wheels and I think the train in the movie was only hauling somewhere around 10 to 15 centerbeams, I'm not exactly sure.
@@64Wheels oh btw I uploaded something, and it's D&RGW/SCRX 3134 in Trainz Simulator lol
Damn amazing piece of history!!! Thanks!!!
Oh I so want to get that railroad crossing diorama. I wonder if the locomotive scales with HO scale model trains. I kinda wonder if it would even be possible to turn that locomotive into a functional model along with the crossing.
It’s close to N scale at 9mm wide - but a lot of people have mentioned they are buying it to use on HO scaled diorama setups.
I could see this being done as a half scale family line though especially if your on a budget ya know
I really love train and I’m glad is my favorite part about this movie
would love a 2F2F scene with the Skyline and Supra jumping over the bridge. Or maybe a Tokyo Drift parking garage style diorama... hm
Both of those would be awesome - I’d like an orange Supra with the Ferrari 355 race scene or the civics with the semi!
the only thing that railfans buy it for, is a rio grande gp40.
The train is molded nicely, just mostly plastic. So if that doesn’t bother you it’s a cheap way to get one!
@@64Wheelson may way to buy it just for the GP40 lol
I wonder how close it is to n scale, I have a few of the f&f cars on my layout lol
The track is around 9mm wide, so however close that is 🚂
@@64Wheels sweet, that's what the N in n gauge stands for, nine mm gauge lol

Loved this scene of the movie because I love cars and trains. Im planning to get this diorama now 💀
I wonder what the actual scale is. If it is 1:120 the loco body and the center beam body would be perfect for conversion with a new chassis and trucks
How about extending the scene a little more and have the Semi-truck about to hit Dom's Charger? Richard.
That would have been nice instead of just two random straights of train track hanging off lol
Sick nice 👍💯🔥
I wonder if the bogies rotate?
Does the train and the car fit on ho track?
The bogies are stationary and the width of the track is very close to 9mm wide, so I think it’s just off of HO scale

Like they will somehow work to install this on ho scale track and have trains roll on it
I guess it is almost exact N gauge size (9mm wide) so I’m sure we’ll see a lot of people add it to their scale train setups!
I used to drag here back in high school
I really wish Jada made f&f train gift pack like more rolling stock.

I got this yesterday & your unboxing helped me alot thx
Nice! It’s a cool set - I wasn’t expecting it to have as many parts to put together as it did ha!
A great set. The only problem with this set is the Supra should be without it's hardtop as per the scene from the movie.
It would be cool to get the targa-off version in this scale!
It's called railroad crossing
will these cars fit in with the new micro macenes sets
They are a little longer than Micro Machines, so they won’t be exact, but you could probably use MM sets as dioramas with these cars.
I have them all. I need this. Jada is still missing some FF iconic nanos.
Train crossing arm😊
I got a display like that at Walmart today and the train that comes with it looks just like Dunbar from Chuggington

Thanks man 🫡🏁
The cars look like true HO scale.. The barriers at a railroad crossing are called gates.
I saw one the train and the house together on target houma
They need more train stuff from them
That locomotive is a gp40 and it’s in the d&rgw paint scheme and I actually have an ho d&rgw gp30 locomotive but it doesn’t run anymore because the wires broke
What is the scale/gauge of the train?
The track is 9mm wide so it would be closest to N gauge from what I understand.
Rail I think fit scale is 1:87 like tyco train can connect and also hot wheels railroad

The locomotive is a gp38 rio grande and the car behind it is a beam flat car
4:34 is that an HO scale
I believe the train is very close to O-gauge which is like 1/48th scale whereas HO is 1/87.
1/64 is it or not ?
It’s closer to 1/87 than 1/64th
I wanna get that. It'll be awesome if i got that as a birthday gift which is coming on January 23rd.
🎉
i hope they release scenes from the second movie
The bridge jump from 2F2F would be rad
Awesome
I wonder if there's going to be a Harry Potter diorama one that might feature the Hogwarts Express
That would be cool - I’m sure they would sell a lot of those sets too.
Looks good i would probably get it
Its cool but again the charger and supra..
They are very popular - but hopefully we get different F&F diorama for the third one. A Semi with the three Civics would be awesome
@coletrickIe that’s dope! The Cafe will be awesome!!

I had a total brain fart and literally could not remember lol
