The list is a bit odd, but I guess that's due to the source. For example, your number 6 (Hans Zimmer, the film music composer) is in the list of top 100 composers, while John Williams (the composer responsible for Star Wars, E.T., Jurassic Park, among others) is only in the top 200 list. However, he has more Wikipedia views than Zimmer, and is arguably more famous.

Vladimir Horowitz, Glenn Gould and Leonard Bernstein were brilliant pianists with a few rare compositions but not really classical composers that we can classify them in the same list with prolific masters like Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Schubert, Debussy, Rachmaninov... etc.
Hans Zimmer and Ennio Morricone.are two talented film music composers but not really composers of classical music.

There is also the case of salieri(3:07), about who people search about more because he is known as Mozart's enemy than his music.

This list of the greatest composers of classical music is somewhat misleading regarding what a composer is and what a musician is. For instance, Glenn Gould was a pianist, not a composer. He did some little compositions, especially at an early age, but that’s not what he’s known for (he would be considered one of the best musicians of classical music, but not composer).
As well, Andrea Bocelli is a singer and not a composer either. He and Glenn Gould are known for their performing and are not composers. I get that many people have searched for them online, but they would be searched because of what people have heard them perform as musicians, which is what they’re known for, and not what they have written.

Definitely, agree 300%. Tbh I have an hard time sometimes making myself learn about some boring generic classical composer, when we have the 1860-1940, easily vastly superior quality and variety of works than any other period of 80 years in history. Even Haydn is so boring, when you could literally be learning about Satie, Ravel, Debussy, Lili and Nadia Boulanger, Varése, Schoenberg, Charles Ives, Ivan Wyschnegradsky, Mahler, Richard Strauss, Alban Berg, Hindemith, Poulenc, Messiaen, Shostakovich, Zemlinsky, Bartok, Stravinsky, Gershwin and so so many others. I swear, I feel I'm losing brain cells listening to Haydn, and yeah, I wouldn't even say he's bad, would be unfair, you can't compete with a period of unrivaled change, a variety of completely different currents, higher levels of orchestration and harmony, interesting history and fellows, overall more uniqueness and higher overall quality of output... Complete 180, unlike previously, most composers are actually worth listening to wether they are the smartest or not.

Cause he composed just taht right?
Oh I guess Pirates of the Caraibbeans is a classical work and stands above Vivaldi and Liszt

Don't know much about him, I find the things I've heard from him pretty cheesy, but he has written many actual classical works. But Zimmer, ( he isn’t bad, has nice synth work and good themes imo) definitely isn’t a classical composer, he has no classical works and he's a very pop influenced half producer half composer.

Debates on who should or not be on this list aside, I saw many names that I didn't know, or had forgotten. So I say it's time to do some digging and (re)discover their work 😊

My favorite composer is Bach, but why is Glenn Gould and Horowitz there? They are pianists, not composers! Well, they composed ocassionaly some piece, but not enough I would say to be considered as a composer, even though they technically would be.

Tchaikovsky and Rossini are the two most entertaining from my perspective. The person who did this list doesn't know that many of these people are not composers. That alone damages the credibility of this video.

That is a very caricatural way of presenting things, but even so, who ? You could say something like that about Beethoven, but both Mozart and Bach were very conservative (also Bach was good)
