I've heard tales from some of the old timers trying to photograph the Niagaras in their last days that they hated that air horn. They'd set up and get nothing but the diesels all day and decide to call it a day or relocate but notice dispatch had lined the signals for another train and figure they'd wait for one last train and then hear the air horn in the distance and thinking it was yet another diesel toss the gear in the car and drive off only to see their target go steaming past in the rearview mirror.
Nice review James, that engine is very beautiful! I noticed the bell mounted on the side by the side rods. The SD70M-2 has a bell placed in that exact location except this one is steam.😉 Great job again James, hope your move goes well, have a good night.😊❤️🌙👍🏻👍🏻
now that is one loco James. when you are done with it send it my way, I have real pics of that one running the Yard I am going to model. Look great infront of my station. super nice review Sir. that is a real beauty.
This is a great model. I just wish BLI had provided the double (tandem) connecting rods between the second and third driving wheels. MTH managed to do this for their HO scale N&W "J" class locomotive model.
James have you seen or did this engine with Paragon 3 start stop start stop multiple times when running? Evidently im told the Paragon 3 decoders are too voltage sensitive and constantly resets itself causing intermittent start stops? 2 of my friends C+O Paragon 3s do this?
Does this have a WATER SCOOP💧Effect? The NY CENTRAL Niagara was able to SCOOP Water while it was on the MOVE and had a Spectacular Splash effect as it went by the WATER TRACK PAN. And the location of the BELL 🔔 is also accurate. 👌 👍🏼
BLI seems to make very finicky locos. I had to send my Niagara back to the shop 2 times. I am pulling a track cleaning car which has greatly helped with stuttering and random shutdowns. It is a great looking Loco though, im glad its finally working properly. Running it on a NCE powercab.
Atlas gold line came out with a DMVW GP40-2(W) with DCC and sound they are great locomotives I would recommend you do a review on them. You can find them on Tony's Train Exchange.
Milepost 558 Productions, I got the GP40-2 W as well, the New England Central and Vermont railway paint schemes! I actually made a video on them on my channel and I live in Vermont so I got them from Tony’s as well.😊👍🏻
Looks nice I bet the visionline Niagaras from lionel are alittle different I believe when you blow the whistle smoke comes out and the bell moves! I bet that almost 2,000 dollars! crazy!
Yet another good looking rig by BLI. BLI produces some very nice units. I like their attention to detail and quality of their products. Good review on this one James. 👍 I meant to ask you.. do you still use your BLI subwoofer sound system? Would you recommend the sound system?
I got an issue with mine. A few months ago, I bought it second hand and after I bought it and ran it on my local club's layout, everything seemed to be fine. That is until it suddenly took off at full steam with no control. I did catch it and brought it over to the work desk to reset it. It did solve the runaway issue but since then all it does is make the normal sounds but absolutely no movement. I read that there are possibly two decoders, one for the main and the other for the motor. According to the website, there is a page mode (motor decoder) and a direct mode (main decoder) and I ask if do you know how to switch in between the two modes to program the decoders? If not, should I send in the engine to BLI so that they can figure out what is going on with my engine?
Micro-engineering pre weathered concrete. I am going back to Atlas though on the next layout. Tired of their track popping out of the molded spikes when bending it to lay it on a layout.
@@deanpurcell7771 You can watch my channel, there are 2 videos with BLi Greenbrier and Milwaukee S-3, operating on 19'' radius curves and 19'' curved turnouts. I didn't record video with Niagara, but I hope you beleive me, that she also can operate on 19'' radius curves and 19'' curved turnouts.
I wish they'd focus less on the huge, famous engines and instead give us much more common and important NYC types like U3 switches or H5, H6, or H10 mikes.
I really like the model. But not much impressed by the start and stop motion. For the price. I am used to esu dcc and seeing that is a little let down. Looking for this model for my layout. I like this model more then the big boy.

I love this locomotive I’ve watched this about 15 times
Very nice review of this beautiful locomotive. Learn new fact everyday such as with the air horn NYC, very cool indeed
Thanks for sharing
👍👍👍😎😎😎
no problem! thanks for watching!

I love that ENGINE James....great review from You.....as usual
thanks man!

I think the S1d's sounds will be the same for the re-run of the Dreyfuss Hudsons.
BLI is great looking stuff. HO has come a long way in 20 years with smoke and sound plus real couplers! That is a big engine.
Always like your reviews!
thanks so much!
MTH has released their Berkshires again, I recommend you take a look at them
wait they already shipped the new one?
I dont remember them shipped them
I don't think they have shipped quite yet. thanks for watching!
Bachmann has one nickel plate one
Very nice locomotive and review!
thank you!

awesome ho scale steam loco !
yep pretty sweet! thanks for watching!
Hermosa locomotora , saludos desde Chile.
Have you ever peeled the traction tire off the wheel by sliding the loco like that? LOL Great video as always. Thanks....
I have watched this 15 times and it’s so cool and do you put the smoke fluid in the smoke stack
Ruf
Can you ask broadway limited if they can make Mohawks and j3a Hudson’s
That’s a legit loco. 💯
yep! thanks for watching!
Does it require 22 inch diameter curves yes I presume?????
muchas gracias por subir el video abrazo grande

I like BLI products, but I don't like their smoke mechanism. I like how the smoke on MTH locomotives seem more realistic when standing.
Have you reviewed the Broadway Limited #4597 ATSF 4-8-4 Northern? Good lord the pulling power, mine was over 12oz!
nope, I did a different # though, pulling power is always insane!

I got good news, I bought a new decoder. When it arrives I hope it will fix the issue.
Extra update: I got it all programmed and it works perfectly now.
Dear can you tell me how much was the value or price of the purchase of the train including the cost of shipping from China. Gracias.
Stunning model...

This Train Is Very Nice I Really Want That Train On My Layout
thanks for watching!
Very nice, although for the price it is to be expected. Love the start up sequence.
thanks for watching!
He was trying so hard to hold the pointer thing still lol
What DCC control system do you use on your layout?
The Nigeria class is strangely reminiscent of the UP 484 fef3 class
thats what I was thinking with the smoke lifters. thanks for watching!
Can the smoke lifters be removed?
I gave up waiting. Maybe it doesn't run?
Was this loco built by ALCO?( I’m referring to the prototype)
I’m pretty sure all the Niagaras were built by ALCO
Hey Jim,
What track are you using? Looks to be pre-weathered concrete sleeper track...
Micro-engineering pre weathered concrete. I am going back to Atlas though on the next layout. Tired of their track popping out of the molded spikes when bending it to lay it on a layout.
Hey do you think you can review a Shay Locomotive?
if anyone ever produces one again, I don't actually own a shay. thanks for watching!
BLI produces another great steam locomotive, i wish i could afford it, lol.
yep, you can always wait for sales at Trainworld.com, makes things a little more in range for me from time to time. thanks for watching!
That is great steam locomotive
thanks for watching!
What do you do with the locomotives after reviewing them ?
depends on the situation. A very large portion go on my shelves. That's why my collection is absurd.
jlwii2000 I only have 5 locomotives so I can’t relate 😂
@@demonocity2235 lol
what track do you use?
micro engineering code 83
What kind of track radius can that engine handle?? 22 radius???
I run my Niagara on 19'' radius curves (Piko A-track).
With no blind drivers I can't imagine it running on less than 36" radius.

22 is suggested but it sounds like you can get away with 19/20 like the fella says. thanks for watching!
Ok....Thank You Guys..James......I stil live that engine. Is that particular engine still manufactured?? How much??
I wish they'd focus less on the huge, famous engines and instead give us much more common and important NYC types like U3 switches or H5, H6, or H10 mikes.
I've seen BLI locomotives starting much slower at speed step 1...
yeah I look mostly at how smooth the lower speed steps are. I should get one of those speedometer things to gauge speed too.
I would like to know if atlas track is compatible with the walthers 130 turntable
it was fine on my last layout! thanks for watching!
KeeganHedley Vlogs what code track-are you using
Plastic or metal?
metal chassis, some plastic components
I hate to ask the price of that thing!

If only I had the money...
watch for sales and ebay thats my suggestion. thanks for watching!
How much did it cost? 2k?
Filthy train stuff $350 approximately
Ohh, that's not to bad, considering it is a big loco.
Why would it cost $2000?
Couldn't tell u, I dont know much about prices specifying I'm 12, but ya. I know they get expensive?
