We were doing this work with C130 aircraft during Vietnam war. I worked at the Tactical Airlift Test Center (TALC) at Pope AFB attached to Ft. Bragg. The difference, we dropped equipment from 15 feet above the ground in what was called Low Altitude Parachute Extraction. Why, because at higher altitudes if you drop over a jungle you lose your payload in the jungle canopy.

A long way from Space and a very slow flight throttles were probably at 60%.
