Dude!!! That was freakin’ AWESOME!!! I live in Cape Coral and used to chase and photograph back in the late 80’s and 90’s. Used to be very involved with them. Hired them once for a church function. They picked 250 of us up at the church on Tarpon Street and took us for a ride up to the bridge at Slater Road. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him, but I believe that the gentleman in the pink shirt at 7:50 is Mr. Gordon Fey. He owns Seminole Gulf. A really great person!!! I did some work at his home once and when he found out that I was a railfan, he gave me an HO boxcar in Bay Colony livery! (He owns that railroad, also.) Your night shot of the Caloosahatchee crossing is UNREAL!!! Not worried about gators? A long, long time ago, Seminole Gulf did a railfan trip, where we got on early in the morning and rode EVERY MILE they own! Went south to Naples, out Alico (this track is gone now), and all the way north to Arcadia. I didn’t go back south. I got dropped off in Arcadia and was picked up by my wife...we had a concert to go to that same night. A long day that I will never forget!!! I would love to do a railfan trip like that again some day!!!
Actually the 502 and the 578 are connected electrically through the train and is controlled by the controls in the 502.That includes throttling and braking. There is no one riding in the 578 when going northbound. The 502 is considered to be a control cab. Very popular setups on the Long Island railroad where it originally came from.
Not sure how I missed this video 'til now Dakota, but great job. You put a lot of miles in that night! Guess it's due to Ian, but it doesn't look like this train-boat package is available, even in December of '24. Bummer.
Excellent video, extremely well done! Some of the night shots are really amazing - even the shot you said was very dark, looks great!!! Great job with the pacing - whoever was driving you did a really good job too!!
Yes! This is awesome bro!
Thanks for stopping by!
502 is one of the ex-LIRR power pack engines. Thank goodness some of them were saved!

Wow!! Thank you for the comment and information! Love to hear about stuff like that, and the feedback you have made my night! Thank you so much!
Nice, I was planning to railfan yesterday also but I am sick right now, didn't feel up to it.
I gotcha. Yeah it seems like everyone’s getting downed recently!!

I live in Fort Myers. They recently changed the horn on 578 to an RS5T.
Edit: I have several videos too.
You should chase this railroad more often
I should yes!! Still have almost no idea on whereabouts of DeSoto turn however.
lol
It Runs at Dead Night So Chances Are *NO*
The Floridian Quilava things change
Got that right!!
Nice video! Merry Christmas 🎄
Awesome video! It's been a while since anyone railfanned in my neck of the woods
Thanks Man! I’ll get down there here and there, but the DeSoto Turn has been unpredictable. I’ll chase it again one day!
Awesome video Dakota :) Glad I could come out with you & catch the Rail-Boat train!!
We'll have to do DeSoto Turn next time
Yes!!! We need to do that chase again! Had fun with you bro!
Kotabeaner you too brother!! We'll definitely chase DeSoto Turn again :-)
So 502's basically a non powered control unit now? Bummer and interesting at the same time
What did happen to 501? Have not seen it in forever! When did it retire?
