@@propellerknightlol2308 just sharing info The OVA Anime (Jotaro Joestar timeline starting from Egypt adventures) is already out before the long tv series before 2009
My favorite fighting game that i bought because on a deep sale in the late 90s. I was just a little more than a kid back then and didn't even know what JoJo was. Back than you bought games mostly based on the back cover. This choice when well. I replay it yearly and this soundtrack, mama mia! This game's still fresh gameplay wise too: completely unique fighting system. Capcom's most passionate game they ever made. Replaying their 90s to mid 2000s catalogue made me realize how many JoJo references they put in their games, like a lot.
The devs poured an absurd amount of love into this game! I honestly think that the anime that came almost 20 years later took a lot of inspiration from it.
I remember seeing this on PSN and went to GameStop the next day to put money on my account sure enough the took it off the PlayStation store same with MVC 2. At least the good that came out of it was I got Skullgirls, 3rd strike and Capcom vs SNK 2 with the money I put on PSN.
The existence of this franchise has become pretty obnoxious (for reasons I will not get into) but man the fashion, the artstyle and character designs are so good. It's very charming, and I see why people like it so much.
Believe it or not, this is actually one of two ports of this game. The other one is for the Dreamcast. The PSX version has somewhat downgraded graphics, and in terms of interface is more so inspired by the original version of this game, (JoJo's Venture) but has the new characters from the updated version. (Simply called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure internationally, but called JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Heritage for the Future in Japan, which is the original name of Part 3) The "Super Story Mode" had more or less the entirety of the manga adapted. The Dreamcast is arcade perfect, having both versions on the disc, but it lacked the massive campaign. (Though there IS a more traditional story, more like Arcade Fighting Games. One per character.... but that's also in the Playstation version) Oh, and incase you were wondering, yes. This game is where ZA WARUDO and practically half of Dio's (Or DIO'S, however you like to spell the main villain's name) memes came from. As well as Jotaro's ORA.
One of the best-looking fighting game made by Capcom... Sadly we'll never see anything like this (or 3rd Strike) made by them because it would cost too much to animate all of this in 2D... And because Bamco is the current owner of the Jojo BA licensed game... If I ever put my hand of it I'll main the sh- out of Joseph. PS: I wish there was a Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency arc in the same engine...
There was a Phantom Blood beat 'em up released in Japan on the PS2. There's also a Vento Aureo game (Golden Wind if you've watched the anime) that released on the PS2 as well and, although it was never localized, there is an English ROM translation somewhere.
Finally picked this game up today. Had to trade in some stuff, but well worth it! Been looking for a long time. Now complete with All-Star battle hehe 😊🙏🔥
Mid 80's was when the manga began publication, the modern anime only started being made in the 2010's, there were a lot of tie ins (games, OVA films etc) made before then, but it wasn't till the current anime series that it became very popular outside of Japan. I aren't really an anime guy but JoJo's is something I really respect.
jojo was on the super famicom and seen as one of the first jojo games to exist, sadly it's a shitty rpg meanwhile the rest of the games are just mediocre fighting games made for casuals while hftf is the only games that is actually good
I wonder... this whole ass mode is only for the PSX version, but did they do it because of all the shit Sony was giving them about 2D games back then. I feel I remember Mega Man 8 had to have exclusive shit in it for Sony to let them put it on the console or something to that degree. I feel I also remember Sony being anti 2D back during this time. funny thing is... most 2D fighters were a shell of their arcade selves anyway on PSX. this game alone has a lot of missing frames and graphical changes in general. but if Sony is what pushed them to feel the need for this mode then thanks??? I LOVE Jojo now, but this was my first real taste of it through this game. and I really liked this mode.
@Kev Walthall My point is, my illiterate friend, that adding quick time events to a visual novel that depicts the events of the anime only makes the whole thing a subpar experience and detracts from the overall quality of the fighting component of the game, at which point you might ask "why the hell did they even bother with it in the first place?".

Can we appreciate how it is so faithful to the anime?

Can’t believe this game predicted the anime by 13 years!
