- WARNING - LOWERING YOUR VOLUME IS ADVISED TO PREVENT HEARING DAMAGE
During spring break, I went out to Park Rapids to film this unique Thunderbolt for the monthly siren test.
As you can see, it sounds in Hi-Lo for a full three minutes! It also sounds the healthiest it can be.
Only concerning part, is that one of the solenoid box covers (as you can see) it came off, and it's been off for a few years. However, the solenoids still operate just fine.
Unlike other counties in the state, Hubbard actually tested a minute early, which is awesome! I was kind of expecting them to do the "Waseca" and test 30 minutes late.
Anyways, it was amazing to hear a thunderbolt for the first time, and even in hi-lo!
Other stuff:
Location: Heartland Park, Park Rapids, MN 56470
Camera: Google Pixel 4a
Date recorded: April 3rd, 2024
Hubbard County tests their sirens at 1:00 PM, on the first Wednesday of every month.
These things literally scared the heck out of me as a kid. Now as an adult I can appreciate the engineering that has saved many lives and they just continue to work 50+ years later.
Literally beautiful
This thing STILL has no Solenoid cap??? It's amazing how thr solenoid still works.
the one solenoid door is missing
Nice! May I suggest the next time you come here aim for an ambience recording of this Tbolt, I wonder how it sounds in the distance.
I could, it might be a while though.
@@szsirensofmn ok.
I wonder if the 3 minute test is a new thing or if they just vary back and forth, I only got about 30 seconds there but that was two years ago, so who knows. Either way, really cool to see this again!
You are amazing
Thanks!
Was this on a Wednesday or a Saturday? I would guess Wednesday
You'd be correct. Wednesday, April 3rd.
@@szsirensofmn yeah I just read it…
Nice
