The 4th Chennai Flower Show is currently underway at Semmozhi Poonga, having commenced on January 2, 2025. Originally scheduled to conclude on January 11, the exhibition has been extended until January 19 to accommodate the Pongal holidays and increased public interest.
This year's show features an impressive display of over 30 lakh (3 million) flowers, encompassing 50 different species. The floral arrangements are crafted into 20 intricate shapes, including elephants, peacocks, trains, turtles, boats, butterflies, hearts, swans, and dancing monkeys, demonstrating exceptional artistry and flair.
The flowers have been sourced from various regions, including Ooty, Yercaud, Kodaikanal, and Krishnagiri, ensuring a diverse and vibrant display.
The exhibition is open daily from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Entry fees are ₹200 for adults and ₹100 for children. Additional charges apply for still and video cameras.
While the extension of the show has been welcomed, some visitors have expressed concerns regarding the increased entry fees, which have been raised from ₹150 to ₹200 for adults and from ₹75 to ₹100 for children. Officials have stated that the extension necessitated the increase in entry fees to cover additional measures required to maintain the flowers' original shape and beauty throughout the extended period.
