I thought I wouldn't last the whole 29+ minutes of this vid, not being a huge classic games fan and all(forgive me), but Alpha's in-depth info of each game, plus his overall enthusiasm towards them had me genuinely interested. :D
Even though Sega is no longer a console manufacturer, aren't inclined to pitching their old consoles, and only dedicated Sega fans will get it, the Japanese Saturn mascot Segata Sanshiro should make a come back in maybe a melee fighting game or sandbox adventure. Who's with me?
Do NOT get a Saturn Gameshark unless you have to or find one for real cheap. It is known to wear out your cartridge slot overtime because of its thickness. I highly recommend the Action Replay 4M Plus. Its way more reliable and does everything the gameshark can do and more. It also serves as a 1MB/4MB expansion cart. Japanese Saturn gaming is where its at. Highly recommend.
I just never remove mine ever, I can think of a total or 2 times in the past like 4 years I had ever taken it out since there was little to no need for it
Damn you did play it.. Cool... I loved it.. As I am a 43 year old long haired metal head I played it when it was first released on Sega Saturn...back then playing it on a disc was sooooo badass instead of playing on a cartridge.. We were all bragging about graphics back then.... Its funny when you look back on things like that and how things have progressed now... Shit we thought the graphics were fucking great when pitfall first came out on cartridge.. It was amazing back then.. Now its like WOW look at pitfall then look at uncharted.... It'll make ya smile... Thanks for the walk down memory lane Alpha and keep up the good work on the show.
Awesome Alpha! After all these years, Sega Saturn is still my favor console of ALL TIME especially for the 2D fighters! Glad to see you make another video for your Saturn collection! Elevator Action Return is one of the addictive games EVER; still play it very often especially when I am bored & just want something quick & simple but still have tons of awesome game play!
***** so was the Nintendo 64 but the PlayStation 1 wasn't that fucking great of a machine filled with medicore 3rd party games and Resident Evil clones & Tomb Raider clones, awful 3D FPS games except for a small few! At least the Sega Saturn had a few awesome first party titles compared to those forgettable Naughty Dog crash bandicoot trilogy and Isomanic Spyro the Dragoon (tho decent), shitty 3D platformers, wannabe arcade perfect ports! Etc... Just.. everything about the PlayStation is overrated as hell yet the Nintendo 64 did a better job doing it's job at being a overall popular system! And yes the Sega Saturn DOES have exclusives despite most games that was at first gotten ported later to PlayStation making the Saturn having most timed exclusives like for example e.g Grandia, Rockman X4, most Text based Adventure games, Lunar The Eternal Blue & Silver Star Story, etc.. So don't be coming up here saying it sucks just because it failed in America and ONLY in the US! Same damn shit can be said about the Nintendo 64 too As that shit fucking failed in Japan!
***** Exactly! This dude is just mad because there are fans of the system and he's trying to protect the popular masses of both shitty overrated systems! (In my opinion) and yeah i did play both but PS1 had nothing but crap shovelware titles and forgettable titles only games that were remembered was Final Fanasty VII, Metal Gear Solid, and maybe Spyro the Dragon. THAT'S IT! Every other game no one gave to fucking shits about! Same goes with Nintendo 64.
***** Okay.. like I've haven't heard that story a gazillion times already! Then again the problem was only exclusive to *Sega of America* (and maybe Europe too) NOT anyone else! Lol I know you go by what was back then, but that statement of yours could be rearranged with the Nintendo 64 with Japan ;-) why do you think the Sega Saturn lasted longer in other countries outside of America? At least it came in 2nd and that's all it matters :-P now with the PlayStation, I do agree they made smart decisions with the market and knew exactly what to do but, when it came to hardware their shit always breaks quickly, people having to flip their consoles to make their lids or games to work (like why the hell you need to do that? At least the Nintendo 64 & Sega Saturn didn't need to do that crap just to play) Why does hating on fans of the system bothers you that much? Are you jealous that there's "fanboys" that actually LIKED the console for what it is?? Do we HAVE to like Nintendo 64 & GayStation 1? Do we HAVE to like Resident Evil clones and the billions of Demo Discs that came out for the system? (Cuz it seems like that's all Sony ever makes and not any First Party games) And the fact their Arcade ports are sub-par compared to Saturn's! Just.. who cares, I'm sorry I'm not a fanboy of the PlayStation 1 (back then i kinda was) but nowadays i don't give two shitty ducks about it anymore like i used too and even if i would to go back, i would've only be playing Demo CDs since that's the only thing that was memorable to alot people and myself included. lmao!

"Gunbusters?" yes. "Gigantor?" yes. "Full Metal Panic?, Evangelion?, Gurren Lagann?" Yes, Yes, Yes!! It's all there even SD Gundams.
I'm not sure why but the impression I had of your channel from some of the videos I watched was that you would just rage on frantically about anything and everything. I'm glad I watched this video as I LOVE the Saturn, and this was an EXCELLENT video giving great descriptions and game play footage of some AWESOME Saturn imports. Unfortunately most of the best Saturn titles only were released in Japan, so you are showing some who many not have liked the Saturn perhaps some games that they can pickup and revisit as it was much better than the US market showed. You are very well-versed about retro gaming and appreciate what you put together here. Not that it matters what I think, but I just wanted to give you some props and say thanks for what you do and that I really enjoyed this video. I went ahead and subbed as well.
Let me know if there is anything you want from Japan, but just can't seem to get, or if you would like anything translated, since I'm like here in Japan pretty much doing nothing more than killing time.
Nice little collection you got there, man. I love my Saturn. I'm still collecting for it. Lots a great games that are unknown outside of Japan. The system did 2D like no other! Arcade ports are mostly flawless from what I've seen. I just can't believe how expensive the games are becoming.
I've just started collecting import Saturn games, never knew Rad Mobile had a console release. Been a while since I saw a video talking about Saturn games, good stuff!
I do love the Japanese exclusives, I got Chase HQ recently as it's the first time there was an arcade perfect port of it. I'd like to get Power Drift too, but it's insanely expensive now for some reason.
Both of the titles you listed are actually once I've expressed interest in, but sadly were out of my price range. The footage I've seen online of them look fun as hell, never got to try them in the arcade though let alone on Mame
AlphaOmegaSin Chase HQ is pretty common in arcades, especially the stand up one. But I've only ever seen Power Drift once in arcades. Great fun though as it's one of those pneumatic tilting machines. Actually, have you ever been tempted to buy an arcade machine? I went on a binge two years ago, I love them, but they just take up so much space :(
***** The arcades around here typically never have older titles and if they do it's stuff like Galaga and Pac-Man etc :\ I did buy one Arcade Machine, actually got it in the game room still but will be moving it soon into the livingroom. Got a 4 Slot Neo Geo MVS
dee4doa Indeed, stuff like Streer Fighter Alpha on the SNES and Wardner on the Genesis, it's cheaper to buy the arcade machine! Hell, you can buy a 40" arcade machine of Virtua Cop for $50, It would cost you that for one gun alone on the Saturn now.
Beast import Saturn collection alpha, I had actually played Gale racer back in the day at a sports bar and always thought the swinging Sonic the Hedgehog was neat (though I played it after the Sonic series had came out). Never knew till now that the game predated the Sonic series, so thanks for that factoid. I will have to consider importing some of these. I also have a fairly beast import collection as well (not as many as you but a few expensive gems like Raidant Silvergun and Dungeons & Dragons Collection) Keep up the good work and repping the classic Sega!
You should really pick up the first two Sakura Taisen games for your Sega Saturn collection. They're anime-esque and have strategy combat! Even if you have to use a Translation Guide to make your way through them, they're still definitely worth your time.
Awesome vid AlphaOmegaSin!!! Biohazard aka Resident Evil on the Sega Saturn. Hell yea! Important to know that its the only US console version (PC version included) with an uncensored intro movie (US PSX original release and PSX Director's Cut intros are both censored). You get to see longer shots of Bravo Team's corpses (get to see the entire disembodied hand holding the gun), see the "Cerberus" zombie dog being visibly shot (and see more of his awesome jankiness in the process), watch Joseph get mangled, as well as watch Chris Redfield smoking a cigarette. I always fire up my Saturn or PC copy when I have RE fans over that have never seen the unedited intro.
Been waiting for you to show your import collection since the release of you original saturn collection videos. With a hefty US collection like that I knew you had to have some japanese goodness lying around :P Great video
I really love the Japanese versions of the Saturn games, so much so, that I have primarily concentrated on getting only Japanese Saturn games for the last six months. Every one has been excellent, especially for a shoot em up fanatic as myself. I have some of the titles you showed, but you have a decent number of other really good quality titles that I shall have to keep an eye out for. The Capcom Generations titles are awesome, I only have 1 and 3. The games on 3 are some really cool obscure arcade games. Have been on the look out for 2 for ages, keeps on going for too much. Definitely give 3 a go.
Reminds me of the good ol days. Me and my friends had our saturns modded to play both so I use to go to a guy at gameforce that would get imports for us all the time back in the day. Many good import games. Sega saturn is a good system.
Here's a quick recommendation: DoDonPachi One of the most recognized Shoot 'Em Ups ever. Nice graphics, nice difficulty and heavy metal for a soundtrack. Totally worth getting.
Gale Racer: - No polygons were used in this game - You can actually use your windscreen wiper or turn on or turn off your headlights!. Its pretty amazing for such a old game.
You're saturn import games are good there are some other games ive heard about which you may like to get as well I will send you the names of them on Sunday one ive put the list together keep up the good work and have a nice Christmas and keep on gaming
Awesome video AOS. My Saturn collection is extremely small. Proud of my Marvel Super Heroes and Street Fighter: The movie....the game lol. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks for the video!! I just bought a couple of games on Ebay. Found a copy of Biohazard for $18 and Deep Fear for $15 shipped. Can't wait to get them here. I remember buying the X-Men Vs Street Fighter with the ram cart off the back of a magazine (EGM?) for $80 way back in the day before the internet. My friends thought I was crazy until it finally arrived in the mail and we spent hours playing that sucker.
I picked up the Saturn version of SOTN (for $99, not very cheap) and love it. There's definitely some slowdown, some loading screens between areas (the CD rooms are properly implemented, but the load times aren't that bad in my opinion), and most of the transparencies are faux checkerboard transparency, but I still really enjoy this version with the extra areas and monsters. I especially like that you can get running shoes for Alucard for the inverted castle.
Seeing as you started with an RVD reference, I was suprised that you don't have Fire Pro Wrestling 6 Men Scramble. It's the only import game I have for the Saturn, and is incredibly deep for create a wrestler mode. You should check it out.
Super Robot Wars is a mixture of various mecha series. Not just Gundam, it's also still going to this day with two of yhe SRW OG games being the only ones to see a western release. Really fun series with wonderful Sprites.
It has changed quite a bit, no waiting for patches to fix broken ass games. They actually tested the hell out of them and coded them properly before shipping
Holy crap! I remember seeing advertisements for Shadows of the Tusk and always wondered what happened to the game. Good to know that the game is in English even in its Japan-only distribution. Thanks a bunch Alpha Omega Sin!!
The thought of imports has always interested me, but with how my collecting goals are right now, I would never have the space to collect physical copies of import games.
Hey Alpha, IIRC, I'm pretty sure that version of Gale Racer (which as was pointed out earlier, came out in US arcades as Rad Mobile) came out after Sonic had appeared here in the US. I remember recognizing Sonic dangling from the mirror when I first saw RM at my local arcade. So while Gale Racer as a franchise may have existed before Sonic, I'm pretty sure this version came out after. Oh, you might also be interested in knowing (if you don't already) that CAPCOM Generations 1 has 1942 and it's sequels. Great collection of imports! I recently got a 4Mb Action Replay cart, so I'm ready to start collecting!
AlphaOmegaSin I recommend you get Afterburner for Saturn (import) because of the melody version of the music and it runs at 60 FPS. Oh and the white SEGA Saturn controller is cooler than our default black one because the buttons are colorful.
That's pretty awesome man, I haven't baught any import saturn games for the sole reason I don't have an import saturn... You mentioned the game shark being able to bypass the region code which is amazing because I didn't know that. I literally have my game shark right next to my saturn. time to get some use out of it. Thanks a ton man
Hey Alpha. That card that you pulled out of the Capcom Generations that you said you didn't know what it was. It's a postcard that most Japanese games came with that you can mail in suggestions with. I think that's how the consumers provide feedback to these companies at least in Japan since forums and the like aren't as prevalent here.
Awesome, just as I was getting interested in the Saturn. Now it's just a matter of deciding whether I want a Saturn...or a PS2. The Saturn of course has the Panzer Dragoon Games, but the PS2 has Okami and Viewtiful Joe. These are tough choices to be made...
Here's two more Japan import suggestions for you and quite everybody that didn't know............1. X-men vs. Street Fighter and 2. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter for Japanese Sega Saturn............ why? These 2 games are the ONLY HOME versions that allow you to play with full fledged 2on2 tag play JUST LIKE ARCADE YOU CANNOT do this with the PS1 versions due to its "limitations" or whatever and its only 1on1 in those games Saturn only has Japanese releases for these games so those are definitely something to consider
Gundam is side scrolling. SRC is a strategy based thing, like the old final fantasy games but with EVERY awesome Super Robot they could cram in there. Also most of these had their own series from the 60's to 98 in that game.
OOOO the uncut RE1 intro. Man I try to look away from capcom's games when I can, cause they always remind me of the franchises they have killed over the years.
I thought I wouldn't last the whole 29+ minutes of this vid, not being a huge classic games fan and all(forgive me), but Alpha's in-depth info of each game, plus his overall enthusiasm towards them had me genuinely interested. :D
Wow I don't remember ever hearing about Willy Wombat. Gonna have to check that one out. Same with Shadow of the Tusk or whatever it was.
Even though Sega is no longer a console manufacturer, aren't inclined to pitching their old consoles, and only dedicated Sega fans will get it, the Japanese Saturn mascot Segata Sanshiro should make a come back in maybe a melee fighting game or sandbox adventure. Who's with me?
thank you alpha for sharing off your SS import collection, this brings a smile to face.
Do NOT get a Saturn Gameshark unless you have to or find one for real cheap. It is known to wear out your cartridge slot overtime because of its thickness.

I agree. Bought my action replay in 2000 along with FirePro six man scramble and ajpw feat virtua and it still works great 19 years later.
30 minutes? Sweet. Time to get some beer and popcorn.
Hell yeah dude :D Hopefully you're like zomfg I gotta get some of these games, cause well they are quite amazingtasticalness
Damn you did play it.. Cool... I loved it.. YES! I've been waiting for another collection video and this one is an unexpected surprise!
Thanks Omega, rock on!
Miss these videos
Awesome Alpha! After all these years, Sega Saturn is still my favor console of ALL TIME especially for the 2D fighters! Glad to see you make another video for your Saturn collection! Elevator Action Return is one of the addictive games EVER; still play it very often especially when I am bored & just want something quick & simple but still have tons of awesome game play!

Thanks for this video, you are one of my favorite channels on TH-cam, cool wicked games and kick ass music.
I hope you keep doing lets plays and videos like this along side your news/rant videos. They are awesome!
that super robot wars game is actually a crossover of many different mecha animes, like gundam, macross, and many more
This kicks ass i've been waiting for another collection video from you alpha

With the amount of 'OMG SUPER RARE' Ebay attitude, you might have a better time buying the actual arcade machines for a cheaper option LOL! xD
dee4doa
Indeed, stuff like Streer Fighter Alpha on the SNES and Wardner on the Genesis, it's cheaper to buy the arcade machine!
Hell, you can buy a 40" arcade machine of Virtua Cop for $50, It would cost you that for one gun alone on the Saturn now.

Crusader No Remorse, Command & Conquer, Clockwork Knight, Worms, and Mass Destruction where among some of the most played Saturn games at my house.

Gundam Side Story 1, 2 and 3 are awesome on Saturn
Here's a quick recommendation: DoDonPachi
One of the most recognized Shoot 'Em Ups ever.
Nice graphics, nice difficulty and heavy metal for a soundtrack.
Totally worth getting.
i miss your collection videos plz make more. seriously make more now
I would love to see an updated Import Saturn collection video.
Great videos Alpha, I enjoy turning the speed down to .5 or slower for great laughs.
The exclusive enemy in the Saturnversion of Resident Evil is called "The Tick"! Great episode by the way!
Another excellent video, keep up the good work! Really enjoy your collection overviews and your reasons for having each game. :)
Gale Racer:
- No polygons were used in this game
- You can actually use your windscreen wiper or turn on or turn off your headlights!.
Its pretty amazing for such a old game.
you got in the hunt for 10 bucks
it's on ebay for 171 dollars right now
you got lucky as shit dude
Nice Sega Saturn collection you have there Alpha, especially the Japanese version of Resident Evil!
Awesome vids keep em up :)
I love your intros...just sayin'
Love your channel with all the rants and cursing please don't stop.
On of my favorite Sega Saturn titles is the Daisenryaku / Iron Storm series. If you're into turn-based strategy games - it will not disappoint.
I love your videos! I have two Sega Saturns, but not many games for them. I rarely ever see Saturn games out in the wild.
Thanks for the video!! I just bought a couple of games on Ebay. Found a copy of Biohazard for $18 and Deep Fear for $15 shipped. Can't wait to get them here. Dude that's a badass shirt man. One of my favorite Graphic novels.
The Street Fighter moves in Cotton help out quite a bit. Who knew shmups would have fireball motions?
Thanks for making this vid, I'm getting a Saturn for Christmas and I'm always looking for ideas on import games!
I liked right away for the RVD point. But also because Import Saturn is the shit. It's like owning your own arcade
that's a nice collection of Japanese Saturn games. The Japanese Saturn Library was why I bought a Saturn and Action Replay Cart.
dang 30 minutes that's what I'm talking about. and what is that sweet intro I love that beautiful sound
Back to the days of no day 1 DLC, oh how things have changed!
It has changed quite a bit, no waiting for patches to fix broken ass games. They actually tested the hell out of them and coded them properly before shipping
AlphaOmegaSin
It makes me wonder if programmers and developers of the Pre-DLC generation roll their eyes at what is taking place today.
My first Saturn import was Salamander Deluxe Pack Plus. It's great if your a Life Force fan!
Nice, hope you enjoy it!
Oh alpha the extra enemy in the saturn version of Biohazard is called a Tick.
Well you sir have got me into the idea of collecting SNES and PSX games. was my childhood.
So pumped to start collecting for the Saturn
Great collection you got there, man.
Just picked up an import Sega Saturn from my local mall for $60! Can't wait to get my import collection started :D
Holy crap! I remember seeing advertisements for Shadows of the Tusk and always wondered what happened to the game. Good to know that the game is in English even in its Japan-only distribution. Thanks a bunch Alpha Omega Sin!!
Sega of America was Sega's own worst enemy. I wish I still had my Saturn!
Nice lil collection there Alpha. Cool games.
Love the collection. I didn't know the Japanese version of RE had so much more to offer. I'll bare that in mind.
Nice, well rounded collection. Deep fear! Great game
Japan has a lot of awesome stuff I don't know why all that never came here.
AlphaOmegaSin I recommend you get Afterburner for Saturn (import) because of the melody version of the music and it runs at 60 FPS. Oh and the white SEGA Saturn controller is cooler than our default black one because the buttons are colorful.
I am strictly a cartridge guy, but I do have Cotton 100% on the Super Famicom and love it. I always like your videos bro.
Nice list made me got back on my game and looking up imports
That's pretty awesome man, I haven't baught any import saturn games for the sole reason I don't have an import saturn... You mentioned the game shark being able to bypass the region code which is amazing because I didn't know that. I literally have my game shark right next to my saturn. time to get some use out of it. Thanks a ton man
Loving your enthusiasm.
sega saturn is a beast! love that system. fyi the GameShark cart is known to stretch out the chips
Hey Alpha. That card that you pulled out of the Capcom Generations that you said you didn't know what it was. It's a postcard that most Japanese games came with that you can mail in suggestions with. I think that's how the consumers provide feedback to these companies at least in Japan since forums and the like aren't as prevalent here.
Love you’re videos man keep up the good work
Saturn and Dreamcast and maybe ogxbox are my all time fav systems
Awesome, just as I was getting interested in the Saturn. Now it's just a matter of deciding whether I want a Saturn...or a PS2. The Saturn of course has the Panzer Dragoon Games, but the PS2 has Okami and Viewtiful Joe. These are tough choices to be made...
I wish the Sega Saturn Lunar games would have been localized.
You can also find In the Hunt and other works of IREM badassness like Hammerin Harry, Undercover Cops and Gunforce 2 for PC in IREM Arcade Hits.
Love the background music...Outrun needs a new installment!
I love that background music!!!
Here's two more Japan import suggestions for you and quite everybody that didn't know............1. X-men vs. Street Fighter and 2. Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter for Japanese Sega Saturn............
why? These 2 games are the ONLY HOME versions that allow you to play with full fledged 2on2 tag play JUST LIKE ARCADE
YOU CANNOT do this with the PS1 versions due to its "limitations" or whatever and its only 1on1 in those games
Saturn only has Japanese releases for these games so those are definitely something to consider
I was enjoyin' the video so much, too bad it ended haha
cheers from Brazil
The very first appearance of Sonic the hedgehog is actually very interesting, damn.
Damn willy wombat has gone up in price as FUCK in 3 years lol.
Gundam is side scrolling. SRC is a strategy based thing, like the old final fantasy games but with EVERY awesome Super Robot they could cram in there. Also most of these had their own series from the 60's to 98 in that game.
YES! another collection vid! thanks so much!
I got that shirt :P
I also love having physical copies. its nice to be able to hold and look at something rather then look at a file..
Hey bro I love your videos! I just started watching!
Nice video man! Thanks for sharing. I only got Panzer Dragoon Zwei but I'm looking to expand on that.
OOOO the uncut RE1 intro. Man I try to look away from capcom's games when I can, cause they always remind me of the franchises they have killed over the years.
